Very large piece (measures 27" X 21") circa 1890's lithograph Nelson Morris & Co. original advertisement - Pigs Playing Baseball.
There is a lot going on in the background of this image. Pigs in tree's, pigs in windows, pigs on top of buildings, pigs peeking through the outfield wall. All just to catch a glimpse of the game. Love it! https://photos.imageevent.com/threet...g%20litho1.jpg With its original matching card sharing the same image. https://photos.imageevent.com/threet...g%20litho2.jpg |

Vintage Grain Belt Beer Advertisement
I thought this was a cool item. I have never seen another. Thinking that the item would sell for more than I wanted to pay (it did), I did not bid on the item. Also, at over 4 feet long and 22 inches wide, the piece would be a major space eater. Congratulations to the buyer!

JP Patches! Awesome Dave! Now you need to find a Gertrude companion piece.

Billy Martin Ham Salesman?
1 Attachment(s)
I just received the piece below. Early 1970's advertising sign for Billy Martin's Hams. The story goes, the dealer had gotten the sign out of a bar in Detroit that had been selling the hams. Initially, I thought the sign was a fantasy piece because I did not know Billy Martin was a spokesperson for ham. More porky! Less fatty! The item came with a Billy Martin's Ham pamphlet (with two recipes) and this Ebay seller has a print ad for sale (https://www.ebay.com/itm/185836110639). So, Billy actually pitched hams. The sign is likely one of a kind, because the picture of Billy and the ham were enlarged and glued (??) to the medium the lettering is professionally done. Either way, I really like it!

Thanks! I first saw the sign/picture (??) back in April. The seller requested local pick-up only. I inquired about shipping and the seller said he would check on shipping costs. Last week, I reached out again to see if he had looked into the cost of shipping. Apparently, FEDEX has an art box. A deal was struck and I now own the piece! It is an oddball piece! |

Billy Martin sign is great, as is the Blatz. As a child of the Midwest, I always thought “Blatz” sounded like a good approximation of puking.

Here is one of the few pieces I have of advertising. Its original charcoal drawing for Kendall Oil featuring none other than Bucky Crouse. Bucky played for the White Sox from 23-30, so I can date this piece from that period. It was used for magazines, etc. and there is space where the dealer, retail outlet, etc. could simply add their information for the ad.
I placed the ruler and card there to show its size. I've had this piece for several years just stashed away in a closet. Enjoy. |

I’m not saying it would be perfect but I think you could manufacture something to improve your item’s “displayability.” I enjoy doing my own little low end “improvements.” :p https://www.net54baseball.com/showth...y+restorations |
