I realize this is at least partially tongue in cheek but, to the contrary, the winner of the auction is automatically a “winner”. That is, unless he has a specific intention to flip it and he predicts future market value incorrectly. Generally speaking, if a person places a max bid of $X, he personally values the item more than he values having $X. If he wins, he profits. And depending on the second highest bid, he may profit a lot. The difference almost kinda like cash back! Of course I’m not defining profit strictly in terms of cash. I profit every time I go to the store and exchange dollars for goods. Capitalism is awesome!

Pickups

Mark mentioned some pennants that were trade away in the past and here is the 46 tigers.

I have also added some pickups in the last year. All St. Louis, and the tough one is the terriers from the federal league.

Awesome stuff Jordan...

That '46 Cardinals World Series pennant is incredible. Never seen another, let alone in that glistening condition. White felt pennants of that vintage are impossible to find that clean. What a beauty!

Another repro

Here's another repro in case anyone was bidding. This is a Mitchell and Ness that is an exact copy of the original.

Good catch. And you've gotta love that little chip of tell-tale paper under the stitching on the reverse.

Would love to see images of some of these from our collections, especially ones from teams that don't show up very often.

This is not mine, but on my wish list. I believe it is the Cubs version in this photo.

Interesting that the reigning NL/AL champs (Braves/Indians) pennants are different from all the rest. The Braves and Indians feature their respective team mascots, while all the others feature the same stadium scene.

Great photo, Jason!

Just noticed a second Braves Pennant with the typical stadium scene, but here are links to the Braves/Indians "Champs" pennants...
