Another vet and participant in The Battle Of The Bulge. Born, raised, lived and died in St Louis but spent his MLB career with the Giants

Bob had a short career as he did not get to the majors until 32. But he was an All Star in 54 and had a no hitter in 57.

By the way, note the small white area in lower left front. Not paper loss, excessive white bleed. Card can be found with it or without it

I was recently reading about his WW2 ball playing experiences...the games they played and the players...would have been something to experience as a fan. His numbers in todays world would have paid him a few nice contracts as he moved around in the MLB...lol.

Last Spring Training I went to was in 2000...it's been way too long! At one game I was sitting directly off the dugout and had Ken Caminiti walk over and pick up BOTH of the girls sitting next to me...haha...gave them a plastic hotel key card. He had quite the silver tongue. It was hiliarious and clear the two girls came specifically to meet ballplayers. They didn't stick around much for the game...true story. RIP Ken!

1954 Topps #114: Dean Stone

Darrah Dean Stone. Pitcher for the Washington Senators in 1953-1957. 29 wins and 12 saves in 8 MLB seasons. Best known for being the winning pitcher in the 1954 All-Star Game without retiring a batter. 1954 All-Star. His best season was 1954 with the Washington Senators as he posted a 12-10 record and a 3.22 ERA in 178.2 innings pitched. He finished his MLB career with the Baltimore Orioles in 1963.

What's cool with seeing several examples of the same card you get to see centering trends. My Solly isn't the sharpest, but I do appreciate the centering on this one...

Your 54s look better than my 53s! :) That to me is the beauty of the larger 50s cards...just having them is cool. I got really lucky on my initial "lot" when putting 54 together and built the set from there. If we do this with 1955 it will be a different story...first couple lots and what I had initially was rough...so I built the set consistent with that...which is fun.

I can almost picture him sitting in the Bada Bing Bar when Tony comes rolling through to the back ( if this offends someone, deal with it. I loved that show)
