The Depression of 2008

Posted By: LetsGoBucs
I've never contacted a presidential candidate or other politician for his expertise on the nuances of E98s. Nor have I called my financial guy for his insight on the quirks of T206 backs (or horizontal poses, for that matter). So I always wonder why people feel the need to post their thoughts on politics, religion, the economy, etc. on a board dedicated to vintage baseball cards.
-------------------------------------------------

Well I'll reply for myself since I'm occasionally guilty of doing so. I post my opinions probably for a few different reasons.

One is probably sometimes due to fustration. As bad as some of my opinions might sound, I think often our supposedly leaders sound even worse.

Another is due to believing that political discourse is good and healthy and actually both a right and responsibility. I've lived in countries in the world where you cannot openly speak about the government, not fun places to be IMO. And quite frankly some of the "political" web forums I've seen... what gets written there is enough to scare you back to baseball card forums

And finally I admit that I'm probably not a true die-hard vintage baseball card collector. I collect vintage cards but I also collect other things, and to me collecting is about enjoyment. So I don't view the other non-vintage topics as being bad. Hey, you can only read about the printing process of the backs of cards for so long and it starts to get less and less interesting

He'll ruin it worse than the nutless monkey running Ebay. Then again, the union kicked Bowie Kuhn's butt all over the place and he was 10x brighter than Dumya, so we could be looking at the first industry where the workers take over ownership inside of 6 months after a new CEO comes on board

Sic Gorgiamus Allos Subjectatos Nunc
