Not a big hockey collector, but I like this card. He looks like he is ready to go after somebody there, and that's the way he played too.

Nice card Al, love those early Bruins cards.

I am happy to have picked up this very hard to find book from 1977. It's an oversized 10 1/2" x 9 1/2" book with full page illustrations of some of the great goalie masks (like the one on the cover) worn up to 1977. First edition copies like this one are hard to find from author Michael Cutler. The best part is the $3 it cost me. :)

Gorditadogg 02-03-2022 11:25 PM

That is a great book. Whose mask is that on the cover?

Ken Dryden on the cover

Pretty good price, imo, for this Sanderson RC.
Yours definitely looks better centered than this copy, Anthony.

A few recent modern P/U's of a couple up and coming players that are fun to watch and are doing great so far.
Adam Fox won the Norris last year.
His Young Guns and an OPC Platinum Rainbow.
Jason Robertson Young Guns

Irv,

As a B’s fan I’m not big on the Rangers :D but Adam Fox is the real deal and a long term D stud. Nice cards.

I'm sure Calgary and Carolina would love to have him on their team but that's the way it goes.
We'll likely never know, but I'm wondering if what he did, by attending college another year, was all planned? Being NY boy, born and raised, I'm sure he is thrilled beyond believe to be playing for his home state?

"How did Adam Fox become a Ranger?

Fox was selected by the Calgary Flames, 66th overall, in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, but opted to go to college. ... In June 2018, Calgary traded Fox's NHL rights to the Carolina Hurricanes, who traded them to the New York Rangers in April 2019. He left college a year early, and made his NHL debut for the Rangers in 2019"

What kind of person would be a goalie back before they wore masks? I see cards like this one and it amazes me what the game must have been like.

Recently added these cards of some childhood Bruins icons. 70 Bucyk is OPC, 74 Orr AS is Topps.

Kurri17 02-27-2022 09:19 AM

That is a great Bruins haul. Amazing condition, and those OPC All-Star and Trophies are some of my favorites.

Exhibitman 03-02-2022 05:39 PM

Nice Orr haul!

I'm working on my 1975 all-star subset:

Very nice cards, Dave and Adam.
Those years, as far as vintage hockey goes, are my favorites as well as I remember buying packs and trading/flipping them back in the day.
Thankfully I still have a few from then but they don't look anything your guys cards.

Here's my first from the 1923-24 Paulins set. Low grade all the way for me on this set....

I've since picked up 16 more including the Newsy Lalonde but am waiting on delivery. I always wanted to collect this set as a kid so thought I might as well start.

I've also started working on the 55-56 Quaker Oats set - here are my first 5.

Very cool, Scott. Not an easy issue. I was pleased to add one card of one of my all-time favorites at the last National I attended:

Guess I've been on a bit of a modern run lately regarding hockey cards.

Just finished scanning this one. A Mitch Marner Young Guns. Phenomenal player, imo, but because of the Auston Mathews factor, he doesn't get the love he deserves.

Agreed 100%. Such a skilled player, one of my favorites to watch. I might have to pickup that YG myself

Got this beauty yesterday in the mail. Such a tough card. This one was pretty expertly cut, but has a little surface wear towards the upper right. Really pops in a black one-touch. If I ever grade it, will definitely be with SGC for the black on yellow effect.

Another 3 pts last night but, unfortunately, in a loss.
I'm not sure why I waited so long to grab a copy but pretty happy I own one now. :)

Nice cards, Anthony.
I assume those are Topps, and if so, is it hard, locally, to pick up OPC cards?

When I was in the Northeast it was easier. I have found a local connection here that is a native of Canada so I have decent access to OPC. That said, if it's vintage hockey and it's a great deal I don't hesitate to take the Topps as well.

Thanks, I dig it, it has Jack Walker and Cecil Browne. I don’t see a lot of hockey PCL.

I should have also pointed out Lloyd Turner, who is in the HOF as a builder.
