Zip Z disc. I think this is the last of the MSA discs that Brock was on. I think I have all of them, except for an unknown amount of Carousel discs. You disc collectors, are there others, or perhaps different colors of backs or fronts?

Continuing on in the "Things that are round" genre from the mid to late 70's are these pins and buttons.

Only kidding David. It has been a great thread. Thanks for making the effort

I think other people will pitch in to help out if you run out. I don't have much but I will do my part.

Vess Soda produced Brocca Pop, probably from 1977 or 78, based on the fact it mentions stolen base 893 from August 29, 1977.

I remember drinking Brocca Pop. Completely forgot about it until now David. I was 11 at that time it was out. Good stuff! Always liked Vess products.

1977 RC Cola cans. Brock was not on the 78 cans, but was on the T Shirt iron on patch.

Here are 2 flats that never for some reason made it into cans. One has square corners, the other rounded. The rounded one is a proof of some sort with colors noted at the top |

1977 RC "Flat" proof with no blue color. Also, a while ago on Ebay I bought a bunch of RC cans that had the ends cut off neatly, and then they were flattened to make these "Limited Edition RC metal cards".

If you were a Little Leaguer or High School player 40 years ago, there were no instructional DVD's, or webinars, or downloads, YouTube, or I Tune stores. There was the crusty coach with his chaw of tobacco, and his battery operated cassette tape player.
Here is Lou Brock on Base Stealing. I also have Maury Wills on Base Running, Brooks Robinson on Infielding, and Don Sutton on Pitching. There may be others in the series, they show up on occasion on E Bay. Also, just thought I would add, if you are a Larry Bowa collector, you need this, as I think that is him late with the tag |

1977 Hostess - I just love the way PSA put this card in at such an "attention getting angle", it really accentuates the card.

Side note. Do you think Lou's parents were having a little fun when naming him? Louis (and) Clark?? Spelling aside, that's pretty funny.

Honey, I shrunk the cards.... Although, maybe I have the ultra rare front side mini's...... |

1977 printers scrap with a ghost of Lou Brock. It is tough to see it, but at the top the "Cardinals" can be seen and on bottom left the uniform number 20 is easy to see.

I lost my Internet Explorer browser Wednesday, so have been in computer limbo for some days. Finally figured out how to install Firefox, so here we go again with the Lou Brock thread.
4 card panel, probably shortened up Dynamite magazine panel. |
Dynamite Magazine Topps panels
For some reason, when he was editor of the SCD Standard Catalog, Bob Lemke listed a half dozen or so specific Dynamite magazine panels from the 70s in the Catalog. Since my Topps collecting parameter was anything and everything listed in that Catalog through 1994, I set out to find the listed panels. I think I have found all but one (which is from 1979)
|
I haven't heard Dynamite magazine in 35+ years. Remember getting it in 3rd and 4th grade.

Topps 1981 Thirst Break Gum
I finished a set of those, 54 I think. Baseball, basketball, football, soccer, hockey, track and field, fencing and boxing represented. To finish it I bought 2 "unopened" boxes. The figures were on the wrappers around the gum. It was a messy and tedious process to separate the wrappers from that old and turned to goo gum without tearing them...and then to clean the goo off them. I still have some unopened packs if anyone needs one:)

Al - you never answered my question about the variation on the back of the 1977 Cloth stickers.
Here is the 1979 Dynamite magazine, with the cards inside. You need this magazine if you are a Sergio Ferrer master collector. |
[QUOTE=David W;1274404]Al - you never answered my question about the variation on the back of the 1977 Cloth stickers.
Nobody asked me, but every card in the 1977 Topps Cloth Sticker Set has either one asterisk or two asterisks on the back of the card. |
