Rob hit the nail on the head. Clearly different font and “aged” fabric. Others may disagree and I’m not afraid to be wrong. I have been surprised before by what people have convinced themselves is authentic.

I have at least 60 pennants that are not appearing on your spreadsheet. I don't have time to upload/post them all here. But if you can PM me your email address, I can shoot the images over to you. Once I am able get into my bins, there may be another 60. But that's for a later day... Thanks, Mark |
I'd like to peek into Mark's bins.

Gary,
I took a look at your catalog. Nice work. My tech skills are non existent, but that must have taken a long time to put together. Like Mark, I have a number of pennants I could try to photo for you. I just don’t know the easiest way to get the photos to you. Very nice work putting that together. |

One of my favorites from my collection. Does anyone know the best way to handle these when shipping to an auction house? I am thinking about consigning some of my better ones but most are matted and framed and under glass. This one and a few generic pennants I'll keep for the game room. My dilemma, for lack of a better word, is it seems I am the only one that appreciates the pennants and the little ones feel restricted in an area they want to be able to play in. Is it a game room (a place to have fun) or Dad's baseball museum (no ball playing allowed!).

I would not ship them framed. The glass could break, and it would cost a fortune to ship. I would remove them from the frames and ship them one of two ways.... 1. Flat, within a plastic sleeve and sandwiched between rigid cardboard 2. Loosely curved around the inner perimeter of a large box with peanuts or bubble wrap in the center for support. I would not roll them too tightly, as the painted graphics can crack if bent too severely. Hope this helps and best of luck! |
I may be repeating myself, but Al Lopez wants his train back ...

There are many other examples, but don't want to risk offending any pennant sellers who might dwell here. ;) |

Edit: And I don't mind saying it because he blocked me for pointing that out (in reference to the Colts pennant) about 5 years ago. |

Here's one you don't see every day. You have to love a pennant that's offensive to multiple demographics simultaneously (allegedly). ;)

I really need insight into the relative rarity of the pennants though. If you have insight about it, please let me know. This is the rarity scale that I'm using at the moment (though I'm open to suggestions):

Thanks to a bunch of contributions in the last 24 hours, I have another version available here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MI0...ew?usp=sharing
The total number of pennants in the catalog is 994 (a few dupes were removed). 63% have the manufacturer identified. 35% of the pennants have scarcity identified. Please let me know if I've missed anything or made any errors. |

Cubs Oversized Teens Pennant # CHC8073TBC definitely needs to be "10" in scarcity (not "8"). Thanks |
I hope this link works ... I have twelve 1969 Mets pennants. There may be more. All of these are made of cloth. Top six are Trench, five are ASCO and the last (with the weird orange crown covering "Eastern Division") is that unknown NY company.
I think I may have seen a couple of knock-off types on stiff felt. If there are others on cloth, let me know ... https://photos.app.goo.gl/8PdfuzDH8f98ZTgw8 EDIT: I guess logically there must be at least one more, the last one without the crown .... |

This one arrived today. This is the less common left-handed batter pennant for the Giants, and I've never seen it unpainted. The hat and socks are usually painted bright pink, and sometimes the face and arms are painted too (skin color). This one is cloth and otherwise pristine (no fading to the cloth), which makes me think it might just be uncolored (other than his shoes).

Though I’m still sticking pretty much to baseball I do want to “complete a set” of Trench AFLs with the league trademark in nice condition. Still looking for the elusive Titans. But I’m jazzed to have picked this up, it has retained its colors and is nearly mint. Though if PSA ever started slabbing pennants it would get docked for the crooked spine .... interestingly their ASGs normally would get 25-40K fans but this game had the second lowest attendance at just under 19.

Yes...He's got one in the most appropriate color for the stinking Niners...BROWN. :D In all seriousness...This one really is beautiful and while it was hard to say good bye, it does feel good to know you're putting it where it belongs. Enjoy! |

I say it is purple, the color of kings....
Does anyone know if these are part of a series (other teams with similar designs), or a one-off for the 49ers. Interesting that the two red ones are a bit shorter. |
Love the off-color ones the best. Those purple and blue versions are off the charts cool.
Mine is the typical red with grey/silver graphics. Nice pickup! |

Haha...Looks brown to me. ;)
These Rams look like they could be part of that series. Same maker any way. Same fat spine, skinny tassels and came in unusual colors. |

Been pretty quiet for me lately on the Dodger pennant acquisition front but managed to pick this one up. Looks pretty ordinary, but I think it is somewhat unique. Interesting construction in that the lettering and spine are both flocked with the tassels sewn directly onto the fabric. Also each tassel is just one piece looped. I don't have any other flocked pennants, and I like how the flocking has kept the lettering from cracking. I spoke to Kyle about it, and he has some thoughts on who the manufacturer may have been, but I'll let him share that info if he chooses. Anyone else have or seen this one?

Pacific was eventually acquired by Collegiate Mfg. Co. (of Ames). Collegiate, you may recall, also had a brief foray into the baseball pennant market when they issued their 3-D pennant series for the Brooklyn Dodgers, NY Giants, Yankees, and Red Sox. These pennants too were flocked. I suspect Rick's pennant was a one-off and not part of a bigger series. But if a similar looking Giant pennant with flocked graphics exists, I'll betcha Rob owns it. |

Just picked up this ZERO EYE APPEAL pennant. It was cheap ($60) and I own nothing with that particular graphic. I'll stash it away and never look at it again :p . Do you guys have pennants with that same graphic? |

Look at all the colors in the Yankees version. The silk screener must have developed carpel tunnel syndrome with all of those repeated screenings. A very ambitious creation! |

FWIW Mike, I think yours is from 1945. That artwork represents the later evolution of the artwork seen on on Rob's pennant, from the previous decade. Which is similar in appearance; but different.
All three were by Trench, best I can tell. |

57 Milwaukee Braves World Series Pennant
1 Attachment(s)
I have seen this pennant in several threads and online resources. It is not listed in Mike Enger's book (2013 version). The field of the pennant is gray.
I have the same pennant but the field is red. I cannot find a description of that at all. Any info would be appreciated. |

Anyway, the gray body of that pennant was once blue. You can count on it... that pennant was never originally made in gray (guaranteed). This type of blue fabric (very prevalent among 1950s-60s Dodgers Pennants) was very prone to fading, and it's actually pretty rare to find an example that's retained all of its original blue color. Nice pennant. |

I have posted this before, but this group and artwork version was reportedly all purchased together at the 1938 World Series. I too believe it is from 1945. |

As I had to tell my wife, "No, I'm not going to start collecting OU pennants." :p
OU (aka Harvard on the Hocking [river]) is my alma mater. I noticed pennantdynasty (good guy; forget his name) had this pennant listed as "1960's" and was asking $85. I thought to myself, "Self, I wonder what other OU stuff is out there?" I got this from another seller for $28. It's stiffer felt but doesn't seem like the ultra-modern crap. The OU green is spot on. OU doesn't have much of a football history. These days, you can catch them on ESPN on Tuesdays or Wednesdays because the MAC sold their soul to the devil in order to get on TV. They are coached by Frank Solich (ex-Nebraska coach who they fired and have been sh*t ever since). OU sent Gary Trent to the NBA. His kid is now in the NBA. OU baseball produced Bob Brenly (lived down the hall from me in my freshman dorm) and Michael Jack Schmidt. What do you guys think about age? Maker? |
