Hank, I have no idea as to what the total pop of the 1910 Dockman All Star Base-Ball candy boxes is.

As to the total pop of individual graded cards, PSA appears to have graded only 1 card from this set: https://www.psacard.com/pop/baseball...hand-cut/33252.

SGC's pop report is more difficult to navigate than PSA's, IMHO. I am unable to find the two SGC-graded cards that Scott showed in Post #211 of this thread anywhere in SGC's pop report. And, I can only find this one graded example in SGC's pop report: https://www.gosgc.com/pop-report/res...20Gum/Baseball Edited to add that this link apparently doesn't work, even though I copied the link from the SGC pop report page I was looking at. This one card I found in the SGC pop report is George Gibson.

Many real-photo, black & white sets were issued by different companies in 1916 using the same two sets of card, commonly referred to as the M101-4 and M101-5 sets. The cards from several of these sets are very scarce/rare. The following are my type cards, and while each is a 1-of-1 per the PSA & SGC pop reports, it would not surprise me if there are raw examples of some of these in collections.

Recently picked up what I believe to be my rarest Bob Feller collectible, a c1947 PC of Bob Feller, "-now pitching for Popsicle"

Its been 10yrs since I saw the last one of these up for sale.

Boy, Feller and Rocky Marciano are the two biggest advertising whores I've ever seen. I don't think there was an endorsement deal too small for either of them.

Thanks for posting that info and for sharing your example from the set.

I haven't really paid much attention to SGC's new website since they got rid of their registry.

Sounds like they've lost data from their old pop reports as I had my whole set graded by SGC back at the 2005 national. In the old pop report, besides my set, I only ever remember them having graded maybe 2-3 other cards in total from the set.

I own some Star Player Candy cards and some Curtis Ireland Candy cards that have less than five on the pop reports. But for something different, I will post these cards.

1) A trimmed N175-2 (the rarer, larger size) Gypsy Queen card
2) Two cabinet cards of Yale Murphy. The first is from Pach Brothers when he was a senior at Yale. The second is from the Newboy series.

Looks like your Keefe and my Connor are Gypsy Queen brothers.

Cool to see another partial Gypsy Queen.

I got my Keefe in a trade with Ted Koch when he lived in Indianapolis. At that time, he had six of the nine cards in the set and all of them had the advertising cut off.

Your Conner might have been one that Mr. Koch owned.

What is the Underwood trademark for? I think they were photographers for some different card issues so could this Groh photo be one used for an actual card?

It certainly looks like they came from one source. I received mine in a group vintage lot about 12-15 years ago, and I believe that it was identified as an Old Judge card. Because of the trimming, it is approximately the same size as an Old Judge, so I thought about it as such until about 4-5 years ago a Net54 member identified it as a Gypsy Queen.

I have the same exact Heinie Groh card, minus the autograph. I believe someone speculated that these may have been made up for Groh in the 1960's to give away/autograph.

I don't know a lot, but I really like it. The back is stamped numbered 913. However, I know that these exist for other players. I saw the same deckle edge with a collage style pic for another player. And most likely I saw it from a member on this site. So I've always had the impression this was a small set, TCMA style.

This may be the rarest card I own - although I consider it more a photo - Frank Selee HOF manager. His single image is not on any card other than the rare Allegheny Card Co. set - so I am very happy to have this for my HOF collection. And FYI it's a Horner photo taken when the Cubs came to Boston in May of 1902. Great thread!

The 913 was stamped by whomever developed the film for the pictures, most old pics from the 1930's-40's have a stamped number on the back that corresponds with the negative used.

If your Gypsy Queen is about the size of an Old Judge card then it is the regular version. My Gypsy Queen is a trimmed larger version.

If that is the case then our cards didn't come from the same person. :(

Back in the early 1990's, I was in college and on the weekends, I would travel around to auctions, antique stores, flea markets, antique shows and something called The Collectors Caravan which would come to Indianapolis.

Being a poor college student, I didn't have much money to buy the good things I found so I would tell Ted Koch about them. Either he would have me buy them for him (and be reimbursed) or he would go and look at the stuff for himself.

After a really good find for him, I was wanting to trade some of my cards for one of his (trimmed) Large Gypsy Queen commons just to have something cool in my collection. As a thank you for me finding him some good things, he said instead of just a common, he would trade me the Keefe instead.

Later, after he moved to Florida, I didn't know it but he sold the other five large GQ's in a Lew Lipset auction. He also sold the "good find" which was a small stack of Curtis Ireland candy cards (including a Ty Cobb that I think Leon just sold this past Summer) and some American Caramel cards.

If I had known he was going to sell the Curtis Ireland cards, I would have tried to buy them before they went to auction...... UGH.

Ben, The CDV of Israel Putnam's grandson is really cool!!!!! Israel was a French and Indian War and Revolutionary War Veteran....Story goes is that he earned the "OLD PUT" nickname around the age of 24 when everybody in his town was having their animals terrorized by a big, bad wolf. His friends lowered him down into the den of the wolf by his feet tied to a rope, and he didn't have any fear and killed the wolf all by himself with his hands and buckshot. He "Held Put" as they say, and they nicknamed him Israel "Old Put".

Not necessarily baseball history, but American History!
