One to go Butch. Take two aspirin and call me in the morning

Butch7999 01-19-2019 11:36 PM

No offense intended, Mister Trebek. The answer/clue to elicit "Virgil Trucks" was certainly among the least awful so far.

"Polynesian testaments"...
"Who is Astyanax Douglas?"

While we wrack our tiny brains trying to come up with an actual question-as-answer for that one,
here's one from the "Might never have appeared on a card" category for $100.:

A: Prohibition against terriers

My apologies for your torture Butch.

Your question for Polynesian testaments is incorrect.

I have no idea who or what astyanax is.

The correct question invokes a bit of poetic license

Who is Maori “Maury” Wills?

I hope you don’t slam me for using a homophone.:D

Question: Mrs. Flintstone flower.

Answer: Wilmer Flores

There is a women’s basketball team in northern New England nicknamed the Terriers. They have (had) a player named Johnson, so I concur with Peter.

Ban Johnson

I believe there is a line of dogs called Johnson bulldogs, so why not terriers?

Peter_Spaeth 01-20-2019 03:18 PM

One less than IBM relocated recently.

Butch7999 01-21-2019 01:23 AM

Quite an excruciating stretch, but judges will reluctantly accept "who is Ban Johnson."
The question we were looking for was "who is Scotty Barr." (A's, 1908-09)

Astyanax Douglass (sorry, omitted an s before) cup-o'-coffeed for Reds in 1921 and 1925
and is our favorite pre-war name.

No one has yet buzzed in on "understand burnt remains."

frankbmd 01-21-2019 06:05 AM

"understand burnt remains"

If understanding implies wealth, who is Richie Ashburn?

Partial credit because Camp Skinner is probably as good as the real answer, but your answer is "dead" wrong. The correct answer is a member of more than one Halls of Fame. Camp Skinner is not.
