Always fun to salivate over your Reds goodies Mark. Awesomeness...

I picked up this jewel that used to hang in Crosley recently and it dates to 1964-65. Waite Hoyt's swan song as an announcer for the Reds and Burger Beer on the radio...

Bill Rayburn 04-24-2020 03:12 PM

Hey Mark, great stuff, thanks for sharing.

Redland Field Panorama

Great memorabilia! I've never seen that panorama before. Can I see the players at the bottom of the panorama?

Hey Chris,

Great sign! Stupid question, when did CKY give up the Reds rights to the mother flame thrower WLW?

Lots of great stuff guys!
Mark I especially like the ticket sign and the Vander Meer pennant.
What I don't understand is how you are able to keep your balance in that sideways house.

Greg

Hi Mark,
Me too! ;):D

House on it's side

I think Mark has too many Spalding trophies and that's what caused his house to roll to one side. I'd like to have his problem! LOL! :)

As a board game collector this one is tops Mark.

I rarely see this one - tho there is one for sale on eBay if anyone wants to drop a grand.

Very nice buddy.

January 1940 Reds fan newsletter

Reds fan newsletter from January 1940. And what looks like a sports record book but is really a Wendell Wilkie presidential ad.

todeen 05-19-2020 10:36 PM

I had no intention of buying anything for the next few months (or even year). I've got a few health bills rolling in. My wife told me she'd kill me if I bought anything. But this came up.

I saw it 4 or 5 years ago for the first time - a little cheaper than the BIN I just paid. I missed it then, though, and I said if I ever see it again I won't be the loser again.

It'll be one of the top items for my 1939 and 1940 Reds collection. Super excited that it looks so presentable. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7885bda78a.jpg

It is well placed! Next to my world series program, wheaties back, and Louisville slugger ad it should make quite a presentation. I could even put in the Ernie Lombardi bobblehead. Or I could find the Lombardi bronze statue that was a give away at the stadium a few years ago.

A Pete Donahue pocket watch is for sale on ebay for $6,000. I'm thinking that's a little steep of a price. What are others thoughts?

I posted this in the 1939-40 Reds thread, but thought I'd post it here as well. If you haven't seen the Lonny Frey Antique Roadshow appraisal, it's pretty cool. Enjoy.

If you have items more specific to the Circa '39 - '40 Reds, go ahead and post them on the other thread. I've seen great items on this thread, so I know they exist.

when I was a teenager I often visited Mr. Lutz at his home on Banning Road in the Groesbeck area of Cincinnati. Very nice man. He spent the entire 1922 season with the Reds as their bullpen catcher.

A couple score cards from the 1888 season. The notes on one talk about Bid McPhee trying to score in the 10th and getting thrown out. The game ended in a tie. Must have been fun to watch.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b523144af2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d49a6c431d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f40db72248.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...90d8692684.jpg

The Great Eight (And Sparky)

As a kid growing up in the 70s near the Cincinnati area, this group really made me a baseball and Reds fan for life. I spent many nights after "bedtime" sneaking a small transistor radio under my pillow so I could listen to the Reds' radio broadcasts on 700WLW. With the passing of the first member of the GRT8 (Morgan), I appreciate having this complete signed 1976 Sporting News more than ever. Thanks for the memories!

I forgot about these. Tucked away for a few decades now. Purchased the batting glove and tie from a guy called Whitey who had some attachment to Rose Bench and Carlton. My Dad loved the Tie so I gave it to him. He ended up buying several ties in various colors that he wore often. Whitey then sold my dad this as a Bench Gamer and my Dad then had Johnny sign this at a show and he gave it to me for Christmas. Found out about 20 years ago that is not a gamer but means even more to me than that Christmas years ago.
