But if you are still hoping to form a coalition of collectors into an organization that shares a common goal, this just isn't the best way to do it.

If half the country believes abortion is wrong, then you have just alienated the other half of the board. The idea is to bring people together, not split them into two groups.

And we are still friends, and even though I am a dealer I am willing to help you out. Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Jim, once again you put your foot in your mouth, offend people, and then wonder why everyone kicks you. First, you claim that the majority of America is against "unlimited access to abortion." The truth is, many pro-choice people are against late term or even mid-term abortion. But they still believe that a woman has a right to choose within a reasonable time. In addition, the great majority of America believes that at abortion should be available with, at the very least, some limits. Why didn't you say that, which is the truth?

But that's not your position, is it? You're against all abortion not just abortion at any time. Are you also against abortion when a pregnancy is caused by a rapist? Or when a pregnancy threatens a woman's life? Or when a fetus has a congenital defect? Isn't that your real position?

Regardless, if you want to claim that you are right because the majority of America agrees with your position, why not admit that a majority of America disagrees on nearly every one of your other political positions -- are you aware of the results of the November elections?

People don't want to deal with you not because of your political positions or your baseball card collection or because you want to clean up the hobby. They don't want to deal with you because you are thin-skinned, obnoxious, and offensive at nearly every turn -- and then complain when someone responds (all the while arguing that it is unfair that you are being personally singled out). I think the most hilarious example of this is when you made a homophobic slur towards Colt and then lambasted him for starting such behavior -- that you had yourself started!

I support many of your positions in the card hobby and I am a collector of high grade cards. I spend a lot of money on cards and I support much of our country's foreign policy. But I am also sensitive of how others may feel and the fact that not everyone believes everything I do. I also tend to listen to those that may disagree -- and the reason I do is because I find that I might learn something. You can't build a consensus (or win an election) without at least making believe that you care what anyone else thinks. How can someone like you expect to build any kind of consensus when you have managed to alienate on this board both the conservatives and the liberals, the deep pocketed and the thrifty, the high-end collectors and those that collect beaters? Your delusion is so great that you actually think you can despite the fact that reality is staring you in the face!

Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Jim, my last comment on this thread: you and I have already debated, all throughout the day. You are the only one on this board who is not aware of the very clear result.

Posted By: john/z28jd
I dont think people realize whats at stake here. We need over 600 more responses in the next 44 minutes if we want that free ice cream from Uncle Leon.

One of the more important issues in this thread that is going unresolved is whether or not Leon has ever been referred to as either:
A- LL Cool J
B- Bean
C- Leaping Leon Poffo OR
D- All of the above

One thing i noticed about all of our past dictators is they all had the double L in their name,eLLiot,BiLL corneLL and Leon Luckey. Gguess that means coLt mccLeLLand or jim crandeLL is next. Gentlemen if you may, please aLLow me to ask one question. How do you stand on the debate of whether the Ty Cobb back is part of the t206 set? Your answer could decide your future

Posted By: DD
In reference to LL, if there are any other comic book fans on the board, Leon should be called Superman. Back in the 60's, a recurring theme was LL in Superman comics. Lois Lane, Lana Lang, Lex Luthor, and several others.

Posted By: leon
I did my normal falling asleep on the couch for about 3 hours (sans drool this time )and just woke up ...what did I miss? I see, not much. If I thought Jeff was bringing family into this I would delete any reference. It was a very passing remark but I will let everyone know that that is my number one pet peeve. I will not let anyone bring someone's family, in any way, shape, or form, into any argument on the board. I have a 0 tolerance policy for that. As for anything else I would hope we would keep politics and abortion issues off of the board. I have my own views but they aren't really for the board. I "try" to use common sense in everything I do and think ....but I have certainly been wrong in thinking some common sense things were common sense....

Randy T.- I sort of agree with you but I still think a thread like this, if it's the exception, and not the rule, isn't that bad. I could be wrong though....

We really should wrap this up soon and get back to cards....take care all.....

edited spelling

Posted By: J Levine
...but...Jim, I really hope you don't have girls at home. I also really hope that they never ever start smoking, yell at their parents, stay out too late, get bad grades, hang with the wrong crowd, do any illegal drugs, drive drunk, get in the car with someone who is drunk, hitchhike, mistreat animals, have sex before marriage, get pregnant before marriage, get pregnant before they graduate middle school, get raped, get pregnant from said rape, have a health screening that finds them pregnant with a horrifically deformed child, have them end up infertile for any reason, get cancer, get any kind of disease like diabetes, parkinsons, ALS, MS, or any blood disorder or any other disease that might be cured by stem cell research, but most of all I really hope that they don't listen to the right wing, uninformed, biased, judgemental rantings of their father.

Joshua (can you tell I had a long day)
