#59 Mickey Mantle I purchased this when my goal was to complete a set of cards vg to vg/ex. When I decided to seek something more, the Mantle priced out beyond my budget. So, this is it.

#62 Ted Kluzsewski When I was about 11 years old, I got the 1957 Topps "Big Klu." I'd never seen a picture of a player in a sleeveless jersey, it definitely made an impression.

#65 Robin Roberts When I was 12, I got a 1957 Topps card of him and when I saw his stats on the back, I thought he was the greatest. Unfortunately, at age 30 his dominance waned, but he ended up winning 286 games. Plus, he was one of the players who worked to organize the players into a union.

Bob, this is a very nice one, even more glossy and well-focused than most of yours. Did you normally buy your cards raw and grade them yourself? You must have spent a lot of time looking through "mint" cards to find the best ones.

Yes, I know. When I scan the images this is the size that's produced. One thing that this has allowed is for me to see my cards "up close" for the first time; usually, I look at them through the plastic sheets that I have in my binder. It has been a bit of a shock that a number of the ungraded cards that I thought to be in "excellent" condition are really very good to excellent due to corner wear. With prices as expensive for cards in legitimate ex-to-ex/mint condition (not the eBay interpretations) it would cost too much to do the upgrades. Unless there is some super deal I run across, I will have to live with what I have collected. The fact that I was able to put a set together with cards that are relatively nice, plus the pleasure I receive just looking at them, I am fortunate indeed.
