Here's my first from the 1923-24 Paulins set. Low grade all the way for me on this set....

I've since picked up 16 more including the Newsy Lalonde but am waiting on delivery. I always wanted to collect this set as a kid so thought I might as well start.

Very cool, Scott. Not an easy issue. I was pleased to add one card of one of my all-time favorites at the last National I attended:

Guess I've been on a bit of a modern run lately regarding hockey cards.

Just finished scanning this one. A Mitch Marner Young Guns. Phenomenal player, imo, but because of the Auston Mathews factor, he doesn't get the love he deserves.

Agreed 100%. Such a skilled player, one of my favorites to watch. I might have to pickup that YG myself

Got this beauty yesterday in the mail. Such a tough card. This one was pretty expertly cut, but has a little surface wear towards the upper right. Really pops in a black one-touch. If I ever grade it, will definitely be with SGC for the black on yellow effect.

Another 3 pts last night but, unfortunately, in a loss.
I'm not sure why I waited so long to grab a copy but pretty happy I own one now. :)

Nice cards, Anthony.
I assume those are Topps, and if so, is it hard, locally, to pick up OPC cards?

When I was in the Northeast it was easier. I have found a local connection here that is a native of Canada so I have decent access to OPC. That said, if it's vintage hockey and it's a great deal I don't hesitate to take the Topps as well.

Last month at the card show I bought his monster box of 60s 70s early 80s Topps and OPC hockey cards. Yesterday at the card show I bought the whole box of "star" and "minor-star" cards. 185 cards Topps and OPC mixed 60s 70s early 80s we negotiated from $700 down to $375 or $2 a card. Great fun to go through these and build my OPC sets. Larry

Thanks Andy it is 11.5 x 13.25 inches ment to be a counter display. Still has original Easel back. I was really happy to add it to my collection. It came with a really nice colorized Leafs Team Picture from same year. I will try and post pic of that as well. Pre war Hockey memorabilia is interesting to collect. As as of now still affordable despite being so scarce.

I especially like the Potvin one.
Are these Topps or OPC's?
Potvin is a fairly tough card to find centered in OPC cards.

Congrats.
Are you planning on purchasing/collecting one card at a time type of thing or going for lots or maybe a whole set?
Been watching some sets recently, and although it isn't something I necessarily follow too often, I've seen some real nice sets sell on the cheap, imo. (From CDN sellers)

I'm probably going to keep it on the back burner and find cards here and there, primarily through trades, if I can. That Gretzky is the only one I have, but will look at add more as I see them.

Cheers,

Just a few recent cheap P/U's of some of Philip Tomasino's RC's. Personally, I think the kid is going to be a good one, but then again, I am likely being biased as I use to watch him quite a bit when he played for the Oshawa Generals.
He is currently playing on Nashville's farm team (a big mistake, imo) but I'm hoping he makes it back up soon.

I went to the annual show in Vancouver on Saturday and picked up some hockey items. I had hoped to find a 54-55 Topps Gordie Howe but couldn't find one at the show.

Instead, I grabbed a good selection of 70's Royal Bank Canucks photos (and a couple of 71-72 Toronto Sun photos), some 1951-52 Parkies, a stack of early 80's OPC, a 73-74 OPC WHA Gordie Howe Poster, and a few 80's OPC sticker albums, including the tough 81-82 album, empty and in pristine shape.

Pretty tough card to find centered, at least in my experience.
I watched these 2 end the other night and was quite surprised to see what the 10 went for. But then again, I believe it is the only 10 I've seen and definitely the most centered one as well.
My copy was the best I could find at the time even though it isn't perfect. Unfortunately it came with a wrinkle that the seller nor the scans disclosed.

Been on a bit of a modern kick lately purchasing up some Jason Robertson RC's. I purchased his Young Guns and his Yellow Traxx last year when I started to notice his potential, and just recently added the ones below with a few more on the way.
He is currently having a heck of a season and is currently ahead of Connor McDavid in goals and only a few points behind him for the overall lead in the NHL.
He is only 23 so I think the sky is the limit for him at this point.

LOL. Thanks, Anthony. :D
I do need to thin it out some, to be honest, so I'll definitely keep you mind when I decide to get around to it.

Robertson got another 3 points yesterday. 1 goal and 2 assists and is still leading the NHL in goals. 23 to McDavid's 21.

Just a fluke, Anthony. Like I've stated, Ty is a local boy to me and because Jason is having such a great year, I decided to grab some of his up too.

I've also grabbed some Tage Thompson cards lately as well as he is also having a great season. Another hatty last night with a helper, which currently puts him tied for 3rd overall with Jason Robertson in points.
I grabbed a Stamkos RC the other night too but it is not in hand yet.
I may have a problem? :D

Big win for Canada at the World Juniors last night. The U.S. had me worried, as they always do, but Canada came back from a 2-0 deficit to prevail with a 6-2 win.
Anyone watching this Connor Bedard kid? Unbelievable talent and only 17 yrs old. Smashing long standing records and still another game to play.
Never have I seen pre-rookies selling for the money they are currently going for, and the kid isn't even drafted yet.

A couple new additions. I got caught up in the Connor Bedard hype but rightly so, imo, so I decided to grab one of his Team Canada cards.
I have also wanted a Luc Robitaille card for a while now but could never find a nicely centered one on the cheap until just recently. Truthfully, I think this one is gradable?
