Very cool!
|
Thanks for the stories. Very cool to have gotten commissions that way. As for the Bo story, well I'll say it again, the power of art.

Last couple of pieces:
Ty Cobb Lucky 7 PSA 3.5 (full PSA slab/flip made from cut cards also): https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...7863306b_z.jpg 1954 Topps Ted Williams #250: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...4d356d70_z.jpg |
Wow Tim...
That ‘54 Ted could be your best work ever! |
Not vintage, but iconic all the same.....the 1989 Fleer Bill Ripken FF uncensored version:
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...20ef0c8e_z.jpg |
Great work Tim! Love seeing all those cut up '89 Fleer cards being used to create this piece! Junk wax used to make a junk wax gem.
|
Tim,
I hope this doesn't screw you up too badly, as I imagine this is a commission piece, but there's a curse word on the knob of the bat... |

A couple more down. Biggio was a commission (some fun news about that one later), and Lajoie was one that I've just worked on sporadically for a couple of years until it was finally finished today.
1993 Studio Craig Biggio (entire setup will be between 6 and 7 feet tall after final framing is done): https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...998b072b_z.jpg T206 Nap Lajoie With Bat: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...252e2eb9_z.jpg |

Finished this 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan commission yesterday:
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...a2706f20_z.jpg I also have been working a few images of celebration (love the emotion!) lately. Here are the 2 pieces I finished just before that 86 Fleer Jordan: Tom Brady: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...65be383c_z.jpg 1991 NBA Finals Michael Jordan: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...fcca702f_z.jpg |
very cool Tim - the Wagner hangs over my right shoulder in my office - which is fantastic given the new amount of video conferences. It must have been mentioned 50+ times by now on business calls.
|
Just ridiculous, absolutely f_cking ridiculous. Your new nickname is Leo-card-o da Vinci.

Are you now using a different technique, particularly on the faces? I'm not seeing (I don't think) all the little faces that make up the face on some of your previous work including this Ruth.
|
Thank you all!
Quote:
Still using the same technique, but I think what you are seeing is that a couple of recent pieces were made using commons that featured larger faces (portraits). The whites of the eyes on those commons were larger than what I typically use, and it was somewhat distracting when they were put in place. I eliminated those distractions by cutting them or covering them with other pieces. Tim |
Another pair of commissions down.....
1955 Topps Ted Williams: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...50421b27_z.jpg 1989 Donruss Ken Griffey Jr: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...79566cbe_z.jpg |

Been busy since my last post! Here are some of my recent completions:
1968 Topps Johnny Bench/Ron Tompkins: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...3a48b148_z.jpg 1914/15 Cracker Jack Walter Johnson: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...4c8af8ab_z.jpg 1952 Bowman Willie Mays: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...5f9cba27_z.jpg 2013 Allen & Ginter Framed Mini Autograph Pele: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e8e8c755_z.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...b4739d15_z.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d9c281bd_z.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...a4aa9819_z.jpg |
Wow, Tim, that Pele is insane! How big is it? The individual letters cut out for the "Topps Certified Autograph" line are nuts.
. |
This does not seem possible, just incredible work! Congrats on your great skill. Love to know if any of these go to auction.
|
Extraordinary work, Tim! I am looking forward to your next piece.
|
Really enjoy seeing all of these - thanks

The goal is to never stop learning about various sets/commons I can use, to never stop tinkering, to always get better. It feels great when that effort is noticed! Thank you all again for taking the time to view my work and to all of you that have replied. -Tim |
I would think it would be an honor for a player to have a piece of one of their cards utilized on the face of an all-time great that is depicted on one of these fantastic artworks.

A few modern commissions to close out 2022. Plenty of vintage on the way to start 2023!
