Buck created a rainbow! I knew he was a saint! Great picture! Is someone going to put a book together when this is all done signed by everyone? I had the distinction of signing the first page of the book george included with the card. Is that still going around?

Matvoo 08-22-2014 12:23 PM

Very cool guys

Mountaineer1999 08-22-2014 01:20 PM

First time I've seen this thread, you guys crack me up. I lol at Pete putting in Sweeney to pinch hit.

BicycleSpokes 09-14-2014 01:03 AM

Same here. I just subscribed! If Buck ever wants to travel his ass to Denmark, I would be honored to show him around!

ullmandds 09-14-2014 05:35 AM

Buck and I just returned from a 2 week tip to Portugal with a weekend layover in Amsterdam.

I'll be sending Buck off to Marty Bluesky...Marty pls contact me with adress info ASAP.

Pics and travel log to follow.

I had the pleasure of spending the latter half of the summer w/Buck...we went to the all star game and hung out w/Lee Behrens of Sterling auctions and Brian Dwyer of REA.

Buck and I spent the weekend in Amsterdam(en route to Portugal)...this was our 2nd trip there...and needless to say we both love Amsterdam...we visited the Rembrandt house/museum, the Van Gogh museum...shared a spacecake and shot some pool.

We spent the 1st few days in Portugal in Albufeira...which is kinda touristy beachy destination in Southern Portugal. If I were to do it again...I'd go to a quieter...less touristy place! We had a good time...we bummed around the beaches...visited the southernmostpoint in europe and ate some awesome seafood. The water so damn cold it was tough to swim...just quick dips here and there.

I regret having slabbed Buck a few years ago...he is tricky to photograph! cellphone seems to work best.

ullmandds 09-14-2014 03:52 PM

4 Attachment(s)
We then headed North to Porto, the 2nd largest city in Portugal...where we explored the city...took a 12 hour boat cruise down the river Duoro, day tripped to Braga...visited the bom jesus...and ate tons of good seafood and drank lots of Vino Verde and Port!

ullmandds 09-14-2014 04:34 PM

7 Attachment(s)
We spent the last 5 days in Lisbon...we rented an apartment in Bairro Alta(that's buck on the balcony)...so we were in the heart of the action. We spent a lot of time exploring the city...we visited st jeromes Monastary, alfama neighborhood, st george's castle, the oceanarium where buck and I saw our first mola mola ...we just happened to be in Lisbon during the Vogue's fashion night out which amounted to the biggest street party with the hottest, best dressed women I've ever seen in my life...Buck was quite impressed too!! We day tripped to Sintra...saw the castle of the moors, pena national palace, visited quinta de regulareira(my favorite), visited the westernmost point in europe(cabo da roca).

It was a great trip...I'd recommend visiting Portugal to anyone looking for a european experience a little off the beaten path featuring great weather, awesome food...friendly attractive locals...and tons of interesting things to see and do.

abothebear 01-13-2015 06:48 PM

What is Buck up to in 2015?

milkit1 01-13-2015 07:03 PM

yeah really, what on earth has happened to Buck?

sycks22 01-13-2015 07:59 PM

I miss the guy

btcarfagno 01-14-2015 04:07 AM

Am I the only one slightly pissed off that Pete was at some sort of fashion model street party in Portugal and couldn't bother to snap up some pictures for the rest of us? I mean seriously. This isn't "what happens in Portugal stays in Portugal". Get with it man. Geez.

Tom C

Leon 01-14-2015 08:52 PM

Where is Buck now (or did I miss it?) Pete was the last one with him in this thread. Is Pete hoarding Buck?

ullmandds 01-14-2015 08:58 PM

Tom c...sorry man I am trying to post pictures but they are too high res or something... They Are failing to upload. You should see the pictures from Colombia!!

I sent large ass to Marty B months and months ago

abothebear 01-31-2015 08:15 PM

So who is this Marty B? and what has he done with our Buck?

milkit1 02-01-2015 08:00 AM

Yeah why ask for the card and not do anything with it? Short of him dying there is no excuse for having it this long.

Econteachert205 02-01-2015 08:02 AM

When my photos are too hi res I make a duplicate and in saving the duplicate can lower the resolution. This is on a Mac.

ullmandds 02-01-2015 08:45 AM

im sort of a technology moron...i'll work on it...where is Buck????

He's part of the Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame, I don't recall if he has anything in the Sports Legend Museum at the Yard. Also I am headed out to the Eastern Shore next week and would be willing to take him by Ridgely when he grew up and spent his later years, too. Might even be able to get the guys at the Eastern Shore Baseball Foundation over in Salisbury to open up for a visit, before he hits the road again for his next destination.

Shoot me a PM and let's see if we can work out the details.

Marty

Is BlueSky the Marty that currently has Buck?

frankbmd 02-01-2015 10:16 AM

His sky isn't going to be "blue" for long unless we see Buck soon. Fair warning Marty. Deploy the drones. ;)

ullmandds 02-01-2015 04:15 PM

marty bluesky is all i know?

wolf441 02-01-2015 09:39 PM

Looks like he hasn't been logged into the site in almost a month (1/12/15). We may need to send in an extraction team! :D

Covert Ops. Think of the visuals. Large Ass locked in the basement of a remote compound being freed by Special Forces in the dead of night and being flown to safety on a chopper and living to tell his story.

BlueSky 02-01-2015 10:22 PM

Hey guys,

Leon just emailed me. Buck is safe and sound. Sorry, I did not report in earlier, but got laid up a while back and have not had a chance to travel with him. My heads been elsewhere. I have not been logged in for a few weeks and did not realize you guys were looking for Buck. He's got a great following. It looks like I will not be traveling soon, so if someone wants to take him out on the road drop me a line.

Regards,
Marty

The Travels of "Large Ass" Herzog (photo log)

Buck enjoyed three days at Universal. Favorite rides were the Hulk, and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. He skipped the water rides this trip.

Here's a few photos... He will be at Disney World the rest of the week. Note that he will NOT be running the #wdw46 challenge on Sunday with me and my son.

What specifically do you do with a picture of Buck ? I can't imagine he's been to CT yet. Are you supposed to take a picture of him at something the state is known for ? This does seem like a very very interesting thread and a very cool idea.

Also is someone keeping a tally on where he has been and has a list somewhere ? Kind of like Franks MONSTER list.

abothebear 04-20-2015 12:00 PM

Over the first couple of years I was grabbing pictures and adding them to a photobucket album. I was thinking about starting a blog-style website but haven't gotten around to it.

Here is the original post with the description. http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=135445

Since then it has morphed, in a good way, into something bigger, and more casual.

Buck is still with me, but will be shipped to a new home on Tuesday. We decided to make the most of our last weekend together.

Today we went to the Nationals-Phillies game today. It was 'youth baseball day' so we were able to get on the field (no players in sight though).

Where is Buck ??? Interested in taking him on a date or two !

Leon 07-10-2015 10:15 AM

Actually Buck was supposed to speak again at the Net54baseball Dinner this year at the National. It is only 3 weeks away. I would like to get him back if possible. Buck has been quite the traveler....

Leon 08-01-2015 07:21 AM

I am happy to say Large Ass Buck Herzog made the Net54baseball dinner again last night. I want to thank whomever made it happen in getting him to me. We were having a few cold ones pretty late last night and all went well with Buck. He said he wasn't feeling well so was having having soda to drink.

However, when I got up this morning Buck was MIA. I had forgotten to bring Buck back to my room. I scampered down to the ballroom and frantically looked for him. After about 10 minutes he was found. A worker had put him in one of the banquet workers offices. Buck is safe and will be looking for his next adventure soon.

It appears that Buck was wearing protection (a body condom!). There was probably nothing to worry about.

Midwest Buck

Buck took a little "no coast" vacation to Missouri to hang out with me for a couple months.
I took him over to MU to show him the columns.

http://www.collectingbrooklyn.com/net54/buck01-mu.jpg

They were doing maintenance, but we stuck our heads through the fence and snapped a pic.

Here's the Missouri Capitol building in Jefferson City.

http://www.collectingbrooklyn.com/ne...5-jeffcity.jpg

I took Buck to KC for a game.

http://www.collectingbrooklyn.com/net54/buck06-kc.jpg

http://www.collectingbrooklyn.com/net54/buck07-kc.jpg

The Royals lost, but Salvador Perez hit a homer in the 9th that was caught by this guy...

http://www.collectingbrooklyn.com/net54/buck08-kc.jpg

http://www.collectingbrooklyn.com/net54/buck09-kc.jpg

We strolled downtown KC and hit up the farmer's market.

http://www.collectingbrooklyn.com/net54/buck10-kc.jpg

Then drove by the Schlitterbahn water park to get a look at Verrückt (the world's tallest water slide),
but Buck thought it was a bad idea so we moved on.

milkit1 08-06-2015 03:03 PM

Something bitter sweet about big ass bucky and a restaurant heading towards demolition .

midmo 08-06-2015 03:07 PM

We spent a couple days in Lawrence, Kansas. We gave props to Phog Allen, but also sent bad vibes for the upcoming season. :)

http://www.collectingbrooklyn.com/net54/buck12-ks.jpg

The water level is up, better stay clear.

http://www.collectingbrooklyn.com/net54/buck13-ks.jpg

I think we're lost...

http://www.collectingbrooklyn.com/net54/buck14-ks.jpg

We made a stop in Topeka to visit the Kasas State Capitol.

If you build it...

midmo 08-06-2015 03:33 PM

We headed over to Pittsburgh. Even though Buck had been there before he was up

for the trip. He got down on the field and sat in the dugout.

http://www.collectingbrooklyn.com/net54/buck17-pit.jpg

http://www.collectingbrooklyn.com/net54/buck18-pit.jpg

We also visited the Warhol museum. We couldn't take pictures inside, but were

inspired to create "Buckhol".

http://www.collectingbrooklyn.com/ne...20-buckhol.jpg

Then off to Cinci for the Home Run Derby & All Star Game.

http://www.collectingbrooklyn.com/net54/buck21-cin.jpg

http://www.collectingbrooklyn.com/net54/buck22-cin.jpg

We sat in the bleachers for the Derby and got damn close, but didn't catch a ball. Maybe next year.

http://www.collectingbrooklyn.com/net54/buck23-cin.jpg

We ran into the Marlins Man.

http://www.collectingbrooklyn.com/net54/buck24-cin.jpg

The Hall of Fame had an exhibit in the convention center.

http://www.collectingbrooklyn.com/net54/buck25-cin.jpg

As coincidence would have it, we checked out the Hunt auction where one of Buck's personal presentation bat awards was being offered:

http://huntauctions.com/live/imagevi...=287&lot_qual=

It was out of my budget (and did not sell), but I picked up a cool 1946 Vargas team photo w/ Campanella so I left happy.

midmo 08-06-2015 05:59 PM

We hit up the Gateway Classic Cars Sports Show in O'Fallon, IL. Tons of awesome cars here, but all I took home was a Chief Meyers Standard Biscuit.

I got in town for the National a little later than expected, but just in time to hand off Buck so he could party with Leon. :)

What happened later that night, the world may never know...

The Police wrote a song about his travels through Amsterdam I believe...he seems to have had quite the impact on Sting. Made him quite repetitive.

That may be post #312. He is with my wife Dana aka Mistress B. all five foot nothing of her. Not looking her best in the photos on the 90º+ and humid day but he still enjoyed it.
