To whom and when?

Just so I know when it's safe to assume that this thread has been put to rest....

Bigb13 09-07-2015 04:06 PM

I have had a couple of people interested in the card. Someone will take it.

thescooper 09-07-2015 10:27 PM

Well I like the card but not 20K like

It's the thread that just won't die. Trapped somewhere between a real live sale and a spluttering death, this Zombie-like thread just won't "go towards the light".

Therefore it is ever damned to be... The Walking Thread

Wildfireschulte 09-11-2015 03:06 PM

I just scanned every other page in this post - only slightly more fun than doing real work at my desk. I propose that we hold a fake auction for this rare front/back Cobb.

I fake bid $2,000 (kind of like Frank Bucks)

Frank bucks - $2,005.

This is the most ridiculous thread on this website. Yet, it still lives.
I guess anyone can bump it. But it needs to die. This guy isn't moving this card, even if he has it. And I don't think he does.

He never sets a price. Last post for me. Carry on.

Oh, and God Bless.

atx840 09-11-2015 06:46 PM

He most definitely owns the card.

Luke 09-11-2015 06:54 PM

The question is, does he really think there is a single person on the board who hasn't seen this thread yet? Other than attention-seeking there's no reason to bump this thread every 3 days. Its not going to sell here. Its value has probably diminished by 50% or more as a result of this thread.

AddieJoss 09-11-2015 07:27 PM

There are plenty of people who would have purchased this card if the process was normalized and the asking price was rationale (myself included). We all see the old VCP on the card and we all know it has appreciated, but by how many multiples? It is a nice card, but it seems the owner feels this card has the power to summon the messiah.

not me

severely rounded corners are trimmed and never should be graded. Many 1's and 2's have stop sign shaped cuts and the eventual paper conformed to the cut shape . Paper does not disappear unless you alter it. Several 1's PSA and SGC are so rounded and NEVER should receive a grade. I had a guy years backs state that the cards were thrown against the wall and that how rounding became. WHoa , whatever. Leon and I agree the same and do not buy cards like that and we have had a few discussions about rounding corners. I may be wrong. Too,I do not mind creases, but severe rounding looks as such. Too many brain surgeons in the hobby. And I am sure that bicycle spokes causes severe rounding too !

Bigb13 09-11-2015 08:20 PM

Thanks Chris, I do own the card and people on this board have given their opinions on this card and what they think it should go for and I am over by 2k. Some people say 15-18 so I am not that far off. If you don't like the card please just move on so I can sell the dam thing.

chiprop 09-12-2015 09:57 AM

I think people are just giving you a hard time because we all know what the card is worth.

Bigb13 09-12-2015 10:21 AM

That's a nice card, but with mine I am in the ballpark I will listen to offers

calvindog 09-14-2015 10:25 AM

I'll offer $7500.

The implication that Frank Bucks were not real is either libelous or slander. I need to check with my virtual attorney, but I do consider this an actionable offense.

Nearly $50 in discounts were issued during the Frank Bucks promotion.

And don't try to tell me that Donald at Disneyland is a man named Frank in a duck suit and not a duck.

Of course if it were, that would be Franks Duck.:D

NB: Poetic License invoked for the deletion of the apostrophe in Franks Duck.;)

Neither libelous nor slander here. I just read this whole thread. Will a yawning drool do?

Luke 09-15-2015 12:49 PM

This thread is an interesting psychological experiment. When I first saw it, I was in awe of the card. But after seeing it posted in a dozens different threads, seeing this thread bumped every couple days for 6 months, and reading that some respected posters have doubts about the card's authenticity, I don't have any interest in at all.

I'm sure this phenomena has happened before in the hobby, but its the first time I've seen it in action, at least to this extent.

Bigb13 09-15-2015 01:00 PM

Those respected posters are wrong the card is very real. I won it in an auction about 10 years ago but just had it graded about six months ago. It was a very respectable seller who I won it from. SGC said it is very real and charged a nice amount to grade it they said because of the value. If you guys don't want it that's fine enough with the jokes.

Bocabirdman 09-15-2015 01:47 PM

No disrespect intended towards the OP but this is the BST for T206. I see no sale happening here but this thread constantly buries threads that are selling cards...with prices.:rolleyes::D

Bigb13 09-15-2015 01:59 PM

There is a price on it.

Your welcome

You can change the settings so you can see 80 posts per page. I don't remember exactly how, but Leon mentioned it a while back and I changed my settings. It's now a lot easier to navigate threads such as this one. Although Leon my have to adjust those settings again if this thread continues.

Well you said you sending it. if you end up not sending it it looks like you just trying to get more offers as a bluff if you end up not sending it....or are you in the 'just keep it' stage.. :) 50 shades of selling...

Jake, are you a potential buyer? Because if you are, you aren't going about it the right way. If you are not, then you are spouting more nonsense.

Rob, I completely get the difficulty in selling a card like this. I have a couple of items that I might eventually sell, and I have a price that I 'think' I would take for them. The problem for most people is that they can't come up with such a price, and even if they can, they are then stopped by thinking they might be able to get more. The problem is, they don't know what that 'might get' number is. Thus they spin their wheels and wait for an epiphany. In such cases, all you can do is find a good auction house and get them to agree on a reasonable reserve. You can also try to advertise the item for free all over the internet in advance - contrary to the opinions of others, I don't think that will hurt your auction price when you decide to sell it, as it's 99% likely that no one in this thread will actually be bidding on it.

Bigb13 09-21-2015 07:02 AM

Thank you Scott, in October they have a big show on Long Island NY were I like I am going to go and check the auction houses that are there and consign with one.

not sure how its nonsense..he said he is going to consign it..just like many people do on B/S/T who actually consign yet he does not........i simply pointed out that he may be bluffing about sending it to a consignment place...and he did lower the price ( from a price he said he needed or he would send to a consignment) from the beginning so apparently my point was valid and not nonsense...

not sure how i am to blame this time for the comment made and why you would single me out on this thread as to wasting peoples time...i think my 2 or 3 posts are the least of everyone's worries on this thread......plus my 50 shades of selling comment was more entertaining and not disparaging....not sure how your comment on my comments was useful or entertaining.....and yes im a potential buyer when/if he lists it for auction...cause like you said he isnt going to sell it here if everyone thinks he wants more than market price..

Runscott 09-22-2015 10:35 AM

Sorry Jake. If it were me trying to sell something I would strongly object to someone calling my thread a "bluff" - I have had a few selling threads hijacked. I didn't see any issues with what the seller was doing.

Thats your opinion.....but he did say he was consigning it months and months ago and then didnt....he had fielded offers and said needed a certain price or will send to auction...and he hasnt...so to me that sounds like a bluff.... or he can just go to the 'ill keep it stage' when doesnt want to sell at market price...i have already talked about the 'ill keep it stage' in other threads...

Peter_Spaeth 09-22-2015 10:55 AM

What happened to the rule or practice that it was bad form to comment on BST threads? PS Jake, why do you care how Robert sells his card?
