Love seeing the updates. Has any player sent the card back unsigned?
|
Unsigned
Hi,
I have had a few returned unsigned. Normally they come back asking for anything from $1 (Sid Bream) to $20 (Bill Buckner). Rick Reuschel just returned one unsigned with no apparent reason. My success rate is around 80% out of the roughly 100 I have sent out. That includes a few wildcards that I have sent out to like Ricky Wright, Mark Mcgwire, and Roger Clemens who I don't expect a response from. It's a bit of a pain in the butt because I have to send an SASE from Canada so I need to buy USA stamps all the time. Not normally a big deal but the exchange rate sucks and I am at the whim of both USPS and Canada Post!!! My biggest concern is that approximately 20% of the signers do not put the cards back in the top loader or cardsaver when they ship them back so they are sometimes prone to damage. Andy |
Awesome, glad your success rate is so high! Seems silly that Bream would send a card back for $1, but one never knows.
|
Clemens signs through his foundation for $20 or $25 per card. Can't recall the exact amount but he's dependable and fairly fast about returning the items.
|
Arriving today was Manny Trillo, who took roughly about 11 or 12 months.

I got Steve Crawford and Spike Owen Thursday.

Two Frank Viola's today!!
|
I'm pretty sure that's Frank Eufemia on the Twins card, not Viola, even though he still signed it.
|
Twins leaders
Agreed,
I just wanted a Twins signature on the team cards and I was sending to Frank Viola anyways. I had to donate to get the auto so I threw in two cards and luckily he signed both!! Andy |

A Big Thank You to 7nohitter
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to share with you and give a big shout out to one of the finest members on the board for his generosity in helping me complete an autographed 1987 Topps autographed set. He has been following my posts and messaged me regarding a higher value card I still needed for my set and said he would send it to me as he no longer required it. 7nohitter, Mr. Miller, THANK YOU for assisting a fellow board member and for your generosity. Cheers, Andy Sargent Trenton, ON, Canada |
No problem, Andy. Like I said, glad the card went to someone who would enjoy it-that's what this hobby is about!

New in the mail today!
|
Things have slowed down, mainly because I've gotten much of the easier ones TTM, but today Kent Tekulve arrived.

August has not been kind to me at all. I had three successes today, the first of any kind since the 5th.
One of them was a 1987. Bud Black signed for me c/o the Angels. 308/792 |
I really enjoy this thread, especially now that it has pictures.
Good luck with your quest, Doug |

Hello,
I put together TTM about 75% of the set going on about 10 years ago..... But unfortunately I was in my 20's and ended up putting it up on eBay for the dough.... Anyway is there anyone out there who has some doubles they want to part with? I got the itch... and want a jump start LMK via IM if you have available. - James |

James,
Here are the doubles I currently have. PM me if interested. Cheers Andy |
Does anybody collect other sets? Just curious. I do Pacific Legends, 1962 and 1965 Topps as well as 1991 Leaf.

I have worked on a 1969 topps, 1976 topps and a 2015 heritage minors but gave up and sold them. I am currently working on the 1974 topps set and traded and am down to 180ish cards left. I am thinking about starting the 1986 topps set as I have nearly 150 of those without really trying yet. If anyone wants to help with my 74 set, I can send you the needs list and I have many 86's to trade with.

1990 Leaf
1990 Leaf is a beautiful set. Is that the set that Kelly Gruber refuses to sign his card for ???
Andy |
I've read Gruber doesn't do 1990 Leaf.
I have more than 100 combined of the 1988/1989 Pacific Legends cards. I currently have 98 signed cards from the 1965 set. 1962 is around 60 or 70 signed cards. Give or take, I have about 60 signed 1991 Leaf. To a lesser extent I'm also doing the 1972 Topps set. I have roughly 45 of those signed. So I have multiple projects I'm doing. Some sets I'm taking more seriously than others. |
After a couple months, George Frazier came in today.

Is anyone doing a mail order for the upcoming Hofstra show in a couple weeks? NyShows.org is your source. It can help the 1987 project or any other set you're doing from that era.
|
I did a mail order signing with Oil Can Boyd. It came back today.

Chris Welsh came in c/o the Reds.

Give or take, I had about a year wait.
Doug Sisk came in today. 317/792 |

I figure that Gruber, Bonds, Albert Belle, and Mel Hall will probably be the ones that keep me from ever finishing the set. |
I did a mail order for a show. Two of my three envelopes came back. For some reason the other didn't come back today.
It was the Phillies show in Pennsylvania. I added Danny Jackson on my smaller 1991 Leaf project and also got Steve Jeltz on his 1987 Topps. 318/792 |
Milt Thompson came in today.
