Hey Mark,
Photos using Canon SLR: ISO set at 100 Camera mode: aperature priority (i use F10 for depth) Full bat: - Use tripod set at proper height. - set camera to aperature priority (I use F10) - set flash meter to +1 - set lighting meter to +2 - I shoot raw images and then develop them using Canon's software Barrel and handle photos: - lower tripod to proper height - aperature priority - flash meter at 0 (middle) - lighting meter at +1 Knob and barrel end - F10 provides depth - Tripod same height as handle/barrel pics - flash meter: +2 - lighting meter: +1 After developing the images, compile them in microsoft paint, which comes free with all windows computers. This seems like a lot of work but a full bat can be done in 30-45 minutes Let me know if some 'splaining is needed Oh and i use a white background that i got on ebay for 12.00 shipped. . |

Yes as you can tell I became obsessed with bat photos. Took a long break from bats and just started back. Re-learning is much quicker. Might be OCD i guess:D

Just a reminder....still looking for a Billy Klaus gamer for the family. The family is also on the boards but not sure how often they check this thread. If you have one I will certainly put you in contact with them.

Brendan!!! I wondered who ended up with that Milan bat...glad someone on here was the winner. I was probably the jackwagon inadvertently bidding it up...
I enjoy collecting all things Milan and had never seen a bat before...it was really a great pickup! Congrats. |
Very cool Clyde Brendan!

I agree - great use on the Herndon. Love the Bergman bat. As a kid he hit me a ball duribg batting practice at Fenway Park in the 80s. (Of course used it during little league game.) So much psychological value to these things!
Not to hijack This Thread - but does anyone have a story of using memorabilia when they were a kid? |

1986-89 P89 Don Reynolds, which was post-career by a large margin. Shows lots of use, so can somebody explain why it exists. Was independent ball around back then? Thanks

Here is another bat that I picked up last month. To most collectors, he is a famous pinch hitter. To my mind, he is part of the Pirates great outfield of the late 1960's:

Ruth Bat
I have a Hanna Batrite Ruth bat that is the same as this one https://www.mearsonlineauctions.com/...lot101844.aspx with the exception of the number 55 following Ruth’s name, mine is 56. Does anyone have any information regarding these numbers? Thanks Larry

Nice Jeter. I agree that those are tough to get at an affordable price. When I had my 1998 Yankees gamers, I used a Shawn Jeter gamer as place spot for Jeter when I displayed them. Couldn't go wrong with the $10 price tag either.

Bresnahan model bat

Ron! you must have a tremendous collection. Thanks for posting those bats.
Here is a recent pick up: a Roger Bresnahan Spalding model. Of course, there doesn't seem to be anything that puts this particular bat in old Roger's hands. Does anyone happen to recognize the pattern of the scoring on the barrel? |
Mail day!

Didn't some guys mark their hits? And others scored the barrel for better contact? I think I have a Reach Frisch with some vertical lines carved in, but not quite like that. |

Joey Votto MiLB bat. No mark on the knob. TPX on the reverse of the barrel. Anyone know how to research MiLB bats? He has used black bats for years.
I traded for the bat. It had been on ebay, but I got it thru a Facebook group. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...84f091537a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2e6360a07f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d29c0858a1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...05a5b81237.jpg Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk |
My guess would be very wrong.
What is the length/weight? Do you know if he ever used that model? |

Bobby Veach
1 Attachment(s)
Picked this up today. Looks like it dates to 1925, his last year in the majors, and is potentially a gamer. It's 34.5" long and weighs 36.5 oz. I haven't been able to find another example of one of his bats in my brief online search. Any opinions? Thoughts?
|
Nice looking bat. I don't know anything about comparable Veach bats, but I would think that any Tiger collector would love to have one. The label could be from '25, or maybe the late 20's, but that wouldn't rule out the possibility that Veach used it. He played in 560 games for Toledo between 1927 and 1929.
