I bought a lot from a fellow who got them from a Lady who presumably worked at a hotel near spring training in Florida from the early 60s-mid 70s. Will post one every few days ☺️

A few recent no-hit pitcher snapshot pickups
3 Attachment(s)
Thanks to Lucas for keeping this great thread rolling.
Here are a few recent no-hit pitcher snapshots to share: "Toothpick" Sam Jones circa 1957-1958 snapper while he played on the St. Louis Cards. In 1955, former Negro Leaguer Jones, was the 1st African American to pitch a no-hitter while playing for the Cubs Pirates LHP John Candelaria (photo taken at the 1977 All Star game at Yankee Stadium) Dodgers RHP Ramon Martinez |

A break from my Hotel collection purchase.
I am ecstatic to have been able to pick this one up of Jackie Robinson. I'm pretty certain this is taken at Vero Beach spring training. Amazing image, so glad I could add one of 42 to my collection. Something else cool I noted is I believe Jackie is wearing a Wilson cap, which was only worn in 1951 and has a slightly boxier design and thicker lining. Reading about it, they weren't sure if players wore this design. Well here it is on Jackies head 😊. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...24e279cefd.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...5031049c18.jpg |
Another recently acquired snap.
The Deaf sensation, Luther "Dummy" Taylor. Back has a small note written by Taylor himself. I believe the shot to be early-mid 1920s. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1c891e44a4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2f79715fd9.jpg |
LA Dodger great Fernando Valenzuela 1984 snapper
1 Attachment(s)
I recently picked up this circa 1984 snapshot of LHP Fernando Valenzuela.
I love the image! Fernando was literally the man in the early 1980's and Fernandomania hit LA hard. A great time to be an LA Dodger fan. Although it was surprisingly later in his career, on June 29th, 1990, Fernando pitched his only career no-hitter. What was especially cool was that he hurled it in LA in front of the hometown Dodgers faithful. Ironically, ex-Dodger Dave Stewart also pitched his own no-hitter against the Toronto Blue Jays @ TOR on the same day in 1990. To the best of my knowledge, this is the only time in ML history that two no-hitters were pitched on the same day... |
Sal Maglie in Cuba with the Cienfuegos.
CORRECTION!!! THIS IS NOT SAL. This is Jean-Pierre Roy. The traveling Frenchman! 1946https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7b15241ed6.jpg |

I recently picked up this group of snapshots taken at Three Rivers. Clemente stands head bowed during the National Anthem, Manny, Milt, and Rennie on the field. The 71 Bucs getting ready, Hank Aaron and the Braves visit Three Rivers.

Joe D,
Have absolutely no clue where this is taken. But I really love the setting. Ca. 1939. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7ae011746d.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9b40cda04f.jpg |

This is possibly taken in Cooperstown at the 1st HOF game. I have a picture of Bob Feller from this game and it looks very similar. The date on the back also would cover the fact that the pic was processed sometime in July or August of 1939. This lines up with my theory. The fan that took the snapper was apparently a resident of WI that got the pic processed after he returned home. |

Thanks for sharing! |
I've been going after player owned businesses lately and have really enjoyed it.
Here is a nice shot of Stan Musial and Biggies restaurant. Shot in '57 with some gorgeous classic cars. And a great snap of The man himself. Also taken at the restaurant. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9c85ad89e4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2e0bdf20c6.jpg |

BTW, 1957 was the year that Stan the Man got his 3,000th hit, too which is nice. Stan and I shared the same birthday...Also Ken Griffey, Jr. |

Awesome!
BTW, I onetime waited on Jerry Reuss as a wine captain back in the day when he played for the Dodgers. Reuss was fun to watch as a pitcher! Will do on the Donora Smog Museum, BTW Lucas. Great pic of Ken Griffey, Jr. and Stan the Man. |

Tom Griffin and Larry Dierker.
Really good image of the two, with those iconic Jerseys and the astrodome background. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...46cf74addb.jpg |
From the land of the forgotten, this shot is glued to a backing with a few other family photos. Marked 1916, Interestingly the fellow is wearing a very similar uniform (mainly just the Jersey) to the 1903 cubs.
Good chance this was taken in Chicago, I really like the background on this one with the big fence. Makes it look like he's on a field smack dab in the middle of the city. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...431500d653.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...459de74151.jpg |
Gutted I lost out on a few snaps I really wanted this evening that went with another I have.
To ease the pain I felt like sharing a great recent pick-up from the awesome Gary S. Bill coughlin, from the 1905 Matty McIntyre scrapbook. Love the gear on the ground and players warming up as well.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f2ee1fda5c.jpg |

I worked for the Cubs in the '80s and started out as game day security and eventually moved into the front office. When I started working at the old ball park I immediately realized that the Ushers room and security office was the former Cubs clubhouse from before they moved the clubhouse to the far left field corner in the '60's. The floors were still chewed up from the players spikes and it had that "locker room" feel much like the visiting clubhouse had in the exact same spot on the first base side of Wrigley. As a member of the security team I walked that catwalk so many times which was why I immediately recognized that area. Now that the old ball park was renovated all those old offices and locker rooms are gone but it was so much fun knowing I was dressing for the ball game in the same place the great of Cubs past had done for so many summers before me. This is an awesome memory for me. |

The back actually gives a name, though it's not Ted. It's Keith Rawlinson of Baltimore. Along with an address and phone number. Maybe a friend or relative? I do agree it looks like an all star game. However Luis didn't make an all star team in '66 or '67 ('66 was the first year of the cartoon bird) so that is strange. Maybe something to do with the world series is my only idea. |
Great pickups Mike & Lucas!

Lots of awesome snappers lately!
Love the Banks & Ryan Here's a Bert snapper from I believe July 12, 1970 (Minnesota Twins vs. California Angels) at Angel Stadium Which would be just a little more than a month later from his MLB debut. Scott, did Angels do camera days with other teams on the field? https://i.imgur.com/aGU87MA.jpg |

Nice Blyleven rookie snapper! Yes, the Angels absolutely did have visiting teams participate on the field during Camera Day during the 1970's. |
