Yeah; always thought this card looked quite a bit different than his T206 portrait.

I created a post a while ago about what Babe Ruth's are affordable. Thanks to all who provided their input. After much consideration, I decided to get the 1928 Shonen Kulubu Postcard since it is so unique and I like the image on it.

CW 02-17-2013 11:37 AM

There's no denying the coolness factor of that image. Nice pickup!

Those '14 CJ's are also lookin' good, Barry.

Exhibitman 02-18-2013 02:27 PM

That PC is fantastic, Jeff!

milkit1 02-18-2013 02:40 PM

Is hughie coaching from deep right field?

Al C.risafulli 02-18-2013 02:43 PM

Holy cow, Jeff, that's unreal. You can see blades of grass in the foreground. His hands look 3D!

Great pickup.

Graig Kreindler would have a field day with this one! Those fans in the back-ground and the signs are Graigs specialty!

Tiny paper loss on back and SGC decimated the grade. Oh well, I'm always happy to buy horizontals with nice fronts, especially when they can be purchased dirt cheap :-)

Great PC. Nice pickup.

I see Florsheim Shoes and then a train ad. Most likely Union Pacific? Says something about the California Sierras. Really neat photo. Don't see these every day.

+2!! Jason, you have come a long way in a short period of time - it seems like only yesterday that you were getting started with the Series 2 subset! If I were a set collector, I'd be going after the T210 "Monster" myself (as opposed to the over-rated T206 "Monster" :D)
Best,
Val

DixieBaseball 02-19-2013 09:03 AM

T210 Set

Val - If the T206 set is The Monster, then the T210 set is The Behemoth. No comparison in terms of scarcity as I am sure you are aware. :D

Thank You Jeremy and Val.It has been a blast learning about the players, teams, and leagues in the time I have been putting this together so far.You have both been very helpful.Val with my first taste of the Red Borders with the Titman card and a few others and Jeremy with my first Orange Border.I have also met plenty of other great collectors along the way.I look forward to many more deals and learning what I can about this set through this site and the knowledge of fellow collectors.

No. I spent much of the night helping my daughter with homework and then dealing with an issue regarding going to another church with friends...was going to write something, and came out as a sigh I guess.

By the way bigfish, really nice Kalamazoo and Gypsy Queen. OJ nice also. Quite a trio.

Resisted this card for years but the particularly strong (and of course unusual) yellow/orange split here was especially strong, and the centering sealed the deal.

Picked up this 1931 Reyes postcard of Cuyler from Lew Lipset at oldjudge.com, crazy detail in this one (similar to the Jennings PC I posted earlier). Here's a description of the postcard from Lew's site:

"1931 RPPC Reyes Post Card of Ki Ki Cuyler. From a very rare set of real photo post cards of Chicago Cubs taken at Spring Training at Catalina Island west of Los Angeles. I know of only 4 different cards, all Cubs, with no duplicates. The card shows Cuyler posing in uniform holding a ball. Is in excellent condition and the back is clean."
