Long time reader, first time poster.
This thread is amazing, to say the least! I've been a Mets fan since 1968 and am an active '69 Mets collector. Here are some of my favorite tickets/stubs: http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...20PC/001-5.jpg Game 5 stub from the 1969 World Series. I was at this game as a 9 year old Mets fan and even ran the bases after the last out. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps82bff2d2.jpg Game three of their sweep of the Braves in '69 that took them to the series. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...pshlajt7xi.jpghttp://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...20PC/002-1.jpg Full ticket and stub from the game where the Mets clinched the pennant in 1969. This was, at one time, the highest attended game in their history so I really don't think there are too many of the full tickets out there. The condition of the full ticket was not a consideration due to the rarity and significance in Mets history. |

Here are two neat tickets to add to one of my favorite threads:
Circa 1901-1903 NY Giants baseball ticket. Who knows, maybe Matty pitched? He did pitch in game 7 in 1901 and 1903, so there's perhaps a 66% chance that he did. ;) Scarce September 28, 1944 ticket to Johnny Vander Meer's 2nd and final win in the historic Army Navy World War II Championship played in Hawaii. Behind the dominant pitching of Virgil Trucks and Vander Meer, the Navy squad pounded the Joe D. led Army team 7 games to 2 in this series, which was the brainchild of Admiral Nimitz. Originally slated to be designed to be a 7 game series, it was extended into 9 games due to its popularity with the troops. Approximately 30 ML players competed in the 1944 Army Navy Championship Series. Eight of these players would go on to be elected to the Baseball HOF in Cooperstown: Pee Wee Reese, Joe Gordon, Joe Dimaggio, Bill Dickey, Billy Herman, Red Ruffing, Johnny Mize & Phil Rizzuto The latter ticket is a nice compliment to the ticket from Vandy's Sept. 23rd win and scorebook that I already have in my collection. |

The stub and picture are both from July 14, 1948... It was an exhibition game at Cleveland Stadium...Dodgers vs Indians... The photo is a Type 1 also so i thought it would be cool to frame them up together... Andy |

Cy Young Win 511 Ticket
I was thrilled to come across this last week! After some research, Game 68 ticket was Cy Young's last win. Only 1208 people attended the game!

Paul, big congrats not only on winning that ticket book but for being smart enough to do the research to find out that great info on Cy Young's last win.
Great job! What a cool stub. And overall piece. Congrats again. Peter |
Thanks Peter! The ticket was cool, but I do love the overall piece. The ticket book was from Mrs. Elmer Steele, wife of Pirates pitcher.

Greg- awesome early Boston stub. I have a very similar example, framed with same circa Highlanders' stub. I've done a decent amount of research, and I do believe yours (and mine) are either 1903 or 1904...same typography as the 1903 WS stubs. Very rare, and special. Congrats. I'll post mine later.

I'm not a ticket collector but I do have a particular interest in the 1912 World Series. Joe Wood beat Jeff Tesreau in the first game at the Polo Grounds. It was after this game that Smoky Joe said "I threw so hard I thought my arm would fly right off my body."

1st - what are the odds of 2 Ben's posting back to back in a thread.
So to the Ben with "the catch" stub, what I think is cool is its a Bleacher Ticket from that game, so fun to imagine the person who had this ticket their view of "the catch." |

Shoeless - Definitely fun to think about the person sitting in the bleachers witnessing the catch. |

As many of you know I collect scored programs.
In the process of procuring programs for my collection, I picked up these from HRs #1 and #660 by Willie Mays. Looks like #1 is a proof, and #660 is just a stub. Any idea on values for them? I would probably be interested in letting them go. Doug |

I had to laugh, knowing that you can buy "I was there" items on the collector's market. RIP to bragging rights obtained through the possession of ticket stubs. Of course, if you plan to, er, misbehave in such a manner, don't be stupid and claim you were at a game that took place before you were born. |

I haven't ever really kept track of when programs I buy have tickets or stubs, so I've been going thru my programs looking for them.
Here are a few I found today, attached to their respective program. Koufax No Hitter #2, May 11, 1963 Koufax No Hitter #4 (perfect game), Sept 9, 1965 Hunter Perfect game, May 8, 1968 |
Wow! Great finds. Of I were you, I'd be checking the pockets of every pair of pants I own for hundred dollar bills. :)

eBay find. Were any other World Series tickets sold together like this?
|
Hi Hank, I'm pretty sure there were a few other years around that era that had that type of ticket. I know I have seen some before. I think this is the first 1924 full one that I have seen. Wonder why game 7 wasn't on it?
PS I think I met you at the Baltimore National. I mentioned that I read your book, well I have it on Audible LOL. Randall |
Quote:
I was set up at both Baltimore nationals. For the seventh game, it says "reservation for this ticket (not same seat number) will be placed on sale between 4 and 10 p.m. the day before." It also provides for a refund if no game six. I can't remember seeing another world series strip like this one. Hank |

VINTAGE 1916 - 1917 NEW YORK GIANTS BASEBALL Ticket Stub GAME 37 (LETTER D)
2 Attachment(s)
VINTAGE 1916 NEW YORK GIANTS BASEBALL ticket stub
Ticket Stub Home GAME 37 LETTER D year is BASED on the Letter D which was credited to 1916 the reason being I have seen NY Giants Home Game tickets with Letter F hand dated with 1917 meaningless game and a Letter E which hand written scores on attributed to 1917, so I am assuming theis being a Letter D is for 1916 the President is Harry N. Hempstead Harry N. Hempstead his time as President was 1912 -1918 the add on back was seen on 1916 1917 1918 tickets I feel very strongly ticket is from 1916 in 1916 Game 37 the 37th scheduled game which co insides with the Game number printed on ticket which were printed before season began (including rain outs ) so not the 37th Game played was on July 4th Giants v Brooklyn Dodgers Game 2 of a Double header where two games were played and a ticket would have been needed for both games Game 37 was the late Game "19160704","1","Tue","BRO","NL",73,"NY1","NL",74," D","","" 36 scheduled d/h "19160704","2","Tue","BRO","NL",74,"NY1","NL",75," D","","" 37 see safe link for Box score in Game 2 Dodgers beat the Giants 6-2 see safe link for Box score http://www.baseball-reference.com/bo...91607042.shtml ticket has ceases and wrinkles but no paper loss or pin holes if any ticket collector dis agrees with my findings I would greatly appreciate any conclusive info that the Letter D is not 1916 |

I'm not a collector but I recently stumbled across a stack of my old stubs. Among them was a ticket from my first big league game.
My dad took me. Browning and Ron Robinson combined to give up two runs. Dave Parker hit a home run and my favorite player, Buddy Bell got a hit. I haven't saved much but I was really happy to see that this ticket still around. https://s23.postimg.org/5k30g97x7/image.jpg |

Your Giants ticket is certainly from the year 1916. Here are photos of a 1914 Giants ticket that features the letter "B" and is hand dated August 10, 1914 in vintage ink. It does have the Midland Beach Resort advertising on the verso. I have owned this ticket for over 25 years. I hope this helps. Happy New Year! |
not a frequent user cannot figure how to post it on the buy and sell section
also there are many tickets listed for sale in this same section so I just followed suit |
Quote:
It's very easy to do. The second section at the top left (just to the right of the icon that says net54 Homepage) is the Buy/Sell/Trade Section. Click on that and scroll down to the BST section for Memorabilia. Post your items for sale there. BTW, your blue Giants ticket in your earlier post is from 1916. Scott |

1889 International Association Detroit Ticket Book
1889 Detroit Wolverine Ticket Book (Champions of the International Association)
Obtained this book a couple months ago. One ticket in book and showing one of five loose tickets. I know of at least one more loose ticket (all belonging to this book). The book was issued to Mr. Howard and is signed by both President Mills and Manager/Secretary Leadley. It is a nice companion piece to several Robert Leadley letters I obtained from Rhys Yeakley dating to this time (the letters chronical an attempt to gain the services of Bob Allen to play for Detroit). On a side note, the tickets are much smaller than what was issued to the National League Detroit team the year prior. |
