Here's the Wills Johnson with the Scissors back.

That card does not in any way suck, David.
For today's selection: https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...g%20Butler.jpg A die-cut ad card from one of Benny Leonard's theatrical jobs And just to prove the die-cut idea never dies: https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...%20Dempsey.jpg https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...r-Pacquiao.jpg The Tecate is cheap but a great design |

Awesome Pete Herman business card.

Well, I won't let this thread die, so:

Still my only type of this issue. This is the same image used for Jack's T218. Which cards actually depict which Sullivan brother remains a mystery to me.
|
Well, they were twins after all. Though I am married to a twin and I can tell her and her sister apart easily.

If you ever get tired of looking at that Coburn, I’ll overpay to relieve you of the eyesore.

Just grabbed this one.

Haha, also married to a twin. You probably wouldn't guess they were twins though, if you saw them standing next to each other. |

Yeah, that's a pretty neat card. Didn't even notice the Gans back until I went back and looked at it again. |

A couple of more modern Yoshio cards, along with a vintage photo of Marciano in Japan meeting with Yoshio Shirai. |
As long as we're talking Japanese fighters:

I'm not out yet, but getting to the point where I have to keep using the same sets soon, or go to the boxes in the back of the secret stash
Here's my favorite T227 pose, the Lightweight world champ. |

Wolgast: https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...%20Wolgast.jpg One of my favorite pieces, a mounted photo by Dingman in Los Angeles. The original is so crisp that you can see every hair on his head. |

Beautiful. Rocky's little brother Frank would probably get into a bar fight with you over that. |

A nice four eyed Abe Attell. I think he is printed in 3D.

Abe's brother Monte:

Here's Abe Attell looking a little bigger and blonder than he normally was
|
Good thing they Ketchelled that one.
I can see the response of the Attells now: "Hey Abe, who's the big goy on your card?" |

And for today, Mr. Attell before he got Ketchell'd. 3 of his 4 T219's, I don't need to show the backs for y'all to know which one I don't have....

Here's my contribution for the week. I think this is the only Sullivan I own where he's looking to his right.

Abe Hollandersky, the Fighting Newsboy, who claimed to have fought over 1,000 bouts. Ripley did a cartoon of him for his Believe It Or Not series. He was given special access to peddle newspapers and magazines on Navy ships. He wrote an all but unreadable autobiography which he sold as well. |

Not a card, but rare photo of John L. Sullivan without a mustache standing in front of a bar. John L. is in the center. Apparently John could drink his opponents under the table as well as beat them in a ring. :D

Can't seem to find a Baker in the 1920's..

Quote:
Alfred Baker? U.S. Boxer, but fought entirely in Europe, according to known record. https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/13322 Journeyman, but some decent names on his resume. |

I like how SGC decided that Benny Leonard is just some nobody who doesn't merit a mention.
