I haven't been to as many BPs as I should. They are a good chance for home run balls. Foul balls are a little tougher because of the cages used around home plate. Ive had several very close calls, but not one that Ive had my hands on.

Game 7 of the 2004 NLCS....first time the Cardinals go back to the World Series since 1987. Edmonds unbelievable diving catch in CF and then Scott Rolen taking the Rocket deep to give the Cards the late lead. Spent the last 2 innings in the concourse too nervous to watch it live!

Tied would be the last game of the 1998 season, Cardinals-Expos, a certain roided-up first basemen goes deep twice to get to 70. It's all tainted now but man that place went bonkers!

WillBBC 12-16-2014 01:45 PM

Jim Abbott's no-hitter. I hope I see another one live at some point.

Strasburg's debut (I know it's not really historic at this point) was an incredible night. Nationals Park had a pulse for the first time in its life.

2001 World Series, Game 5 Yankees v. Diamondbacks. Brocious hits a home run in bottom of the ninth to tie game. It was delirium.

I posted previously that I had attended Derek Jeter's 3,000th hit game. Well, this year my wife treated my son-in-law and me (I still haven't summoned up the courage to ask her how much she spent for the tickets) to Jeter's last Yankee Stadium game. Another magical ending!

Karl Mattson 12-16-2014 09:44 PM

I attended the 1987 and 1991 seventh game WS victories for the Twins, Winfield's 3000th hit game, and the Metrodome home opener in 1982. Also made a good one-handed foul ball catch at the Dome that got me on the jumbo screen for a few seconds in 1984.

As a 14-year old in 1971, I desperately wanted to see Harmon Killebrew's 500th home run in person, but my family could only afford to go to one game, and we missed it by a week or so.

2013 Pirates wildcard win, place was rocking!

I saw the only Tampa Bay Rays World Series game win. That's the best I've got.

stlcardsfan 02-20-2015 09:53 AM

Saw Mike Schmidt hit 4 HRs in game at Wrigley Field. Phillies won 18-16 or something crazy.

Saw Bob Forsch pitch no hitter from bleachers at Busch Stadium in 1978 or thereabouts.

Ernie Banks 500th home run.

Roy Halladay's no hitter in October 2010 playoffs. Wife and I were seven rows behind home plate. It was awesome.

Physedteacher25 02-20-2015 02:01 PM

Black Jack (Jack McDowell) flipping off the NY Yankee fans while walking off the mound to boos after a bad outing. I was sitting right behind the 3rd base dugout with my Dad, I remember that one clear as day. I've been to a lot of postseason and WS games, but that one was the gem in my opinion.

Fred 02-20-2015 02:52 PM

Not counting WS games or AS games....

Trivia quesiton - the only pair of brothers to toss a shutout together?

I saw that game at Wrigley Field, a long time ago...

toppcat 02-20-2015 05:34 PM

I don't remember the date but I was at Shea the day in 1976 Tom Seaver reached 200K's for the 9th straight season. Still the record I believe. I also saw Dwight Gooden's first HR but that was a much bigger deal at the time than it is now.

drmondobueno 02-20-2015 06:08 PM

My dad reminded me a few years ago

That we were at the 6th game of Don Drysdale's 58+ shutout streak. Shut out the Pirates on June 4 1968. I remember the game because I hated the Dodgers, still do, and tend to forget losses. You can tell I was impressed. Stinkn Dodgers:D

Bliggity 02-20-2015 06:22 PM

David Cone's perfect game, 7/18/99, Yankee Stadium, on "Yogi Berra day." We had a late-afternoon flight home to NC. There was a 45-minute rain delay in the middle innings, and we either had to leave in the 7th or miss our flight.

We missed the flight.

Dan, that was the correct move!

I was at the game when Craig Biggio got his 3,000th hit.

After the game they passed out a nice poster with a place to mount your ticket. A few months later Biggio was signing autographs at Minute Maid Park, so I took my poster up there and got in line.

I stood in line for 30-45 minutes, and just when I was about five people from the front of the line, my son, who was about 1-1/2 at the time, took a dump in his diaper and it was NASTY! I mean terrible...everybody was moving away from us. But I had already paid, drove to the ball park, and stood in line. So I walk up to Biggio to get my poster signed and he says "Oh my God. What is that! Get it away from me!" Then he saw my boy and realized what it was. He signed my poster, but he did it with his face turned the opposite direction as if he were trying to find some good air (there wasn't any), so the auto looks a little sloppy. I still framed it. It gives me a little chuckle every time I walk past it.

My boy's 8 now. He plays baseball and knows who Craig Biggio is. When he gets a little older (and has some friends over) I'm going to tell him the story of the time he crapped on a HOFer.

chris6net 02-23-2015 11:39 PM

I went to the same schools as Biggio from grade school on but he was a year behind me and even though we played on the same teams I heard from some of his very close friends in HS that when the Astros played the Mets he was very friendly early in his career but after he got established he wanted no part of his past. I always wonder how much this is true.

Koufax No Hitter June 1964 Connie Mack Stadium

Hated every minute of it.My Phils were in the throes of the pennant race.Full house ,mid week evening game.Dying in my seat behind home plate as Koufax is mowing them down.It took me 50 years to realize that I had been watching an artist at work.

1984 World Series game 2. Watched a summer teammate of mine (Ft. Wayne) Doug Bair pitch in relief. Talked to him before the game.
Orel Hersheiser setting the record for consecutive scoreless innings.
2 all-star games in Milwaukee
Last game County Stadium, first game Miller Park
Babe Ruth's called shot and Don Larsen' perfect game. :) (Doesn't everyone claim they were there for those?)

It would've been funnier if you had been waiting in line to get George Brett's autograph! ;)

Game 6 at Fenway 2013....

Got tickets for face value the day before the game from a Fenway "insider" friend. Very good friend I might add! Took my son and it was magical.
My son went home with a winning pitcher signed John Lackey baseball so the cards were aligned....I mean the Sox were aligned! :)

We walked 2 miles back to our hotel thru the party in the streets and got to the hotel around 1:30am. Incredible night! The next morning, we walked back to Fenway and walked around it and you could tell there was a party there the night before! Great memories!

Joshchisox08 04-13-2015 11:47 AM

I'd probably say all of the minor league games I used to go for the Twins affiliate team New Britain Rock Cats or as they're now known Hartford Yard Goats.

I never knew why but I always loved Torii Hunter and he wasn't even a good hitter for New Britain. I met him got his autograph. I saw a lot of ML players play:

Torii Hunter
Doug Mientkiewicz
Jaque Jones
Eric Milton
Alexis Rios - New Haven Ravens
Josh Beckett
Joe Mauer
David Ortiz
Jeff Bagwell - New Britain Red Sox
Lew Ford

and probably a whole lot more I've missed. But it was fun being a little kid and then seeing them go up to the majors after you just saw them play in person.

I've been to Camden and saw Frank Thomas go 2-4 with a HR when he was on Oakland.
Saw Yankees get destroyed by the Red Sox in the old Yankee Staidum
Saw Cubs vs Nationals at RFK
Red Sox vs Rockies the year they played each other in the WS.
Phillies at their new park
etc.

RichardSimon 04-13-2015 11:54 AM

I was at Jim Bunning's perfect game against the Mets.
I was at the very last Giants-Dodgers game played in NYC.
I was also at the game where Willis Reed walked out of the tunnel in 1970, game 7 of the NBA finals.
I have the stubs from the baseball games but somehow have misplaced the Knicks stub.

1) Nolan Ryan's 300th Win

2) 2008 Brewers Wild Card Clincher - after the game they showed the Mets/Marlins game on the scoreboard and everyone just sat there waiting.

3) First Game at Miller Park

4) The end of Paul Molitor's 39 game hit streak -first time I saw home fans boo a win.

Back in December I posted that my son-in-law and I had been at Derek Jeter's last Yankee Stadium game. For my recent birthday I got the awesome present below including my ticket autographed by Jeter!

I remember that!

Poor Rick Manning. The guy was generally bad in Milwaukee. He replaced a fan favorite in "Stormin' Gorman". So not many fans like him. And he finally does something good (knock in a GWRBI) and the fans boo him because Molitor was on-deck with a 39 game hit streak on the line. And that's his last season in baseball. Classic.
