I agree we both win and I agree yours is really cool and I do like the Size. This thread is amazing and I am a Jackson enthusiast and never really knew how much non card items there are for him and seeing the Black Socks Characters and other items here is really really interesting |

Been a little slow after a fast start to the year for me but did land a GREAT photo of Roy Wilkinson from 1919 (9-27-19)
RMY Auctions is great and I missed out on a great McMullin in the same auction as I forgot about the closing and didnt get in home in time to bid again on it or drive up the price for the lucky winner |
and funny you thought you knew alot and you see this thread and realize there is so much more to learn
and So much more to enjoy |

Finally picked up an Eddie Collins. This wouldn't have been my first choice, but the price and the fact that it fits my needs for matting made it a no brainer. Gonna start looking at matting and framing next month. I'll post when complete.

A couple nice framed pieces that I enjoy....

Here's a piece that is a little bit off the beaten path from most of my Black Sox collection.
Its a piece of sheet music picturing the vaudeville act, the 4 Cook Sisters. Helen Cook, of the group, would go on to become Buck Weaver's wife. |
Jason you are right it is very much off the beaten path.
But that is a great tie in to this thread. Love it |
End of the year pickups

Ending the year with a bang! Sorry not a great photo of these
-1920 Holsum Bread Lefty Williams (I think his toughest card) -Joe Jenkins Conlon Photo -Swede Risberg signed 3x5, one of the best examples I have seen (an upgrade for me) and the prize piece of my collection... -Win Noyes signed notebook page - one game pitcher for the 1919 White Sox |
McClellan and McGuire Signatures

Big thank you to Steve Smith for dealing and allowing me to cross off two HUGE names from my want list!
Hervey McClellan on a flat is near impossible due to a very early death in 1924 Tom McGuire a one game pitcher for the 1919 White Sox is also very hard to find The addition of these two gives me 22 of the 31 players who appeared in a game for the 1919 White Sox -I landed a Win Noyes signature in January...these three ultra rare signatures are the prizes of my collection now! Thank you Steve! |
Great additions Thomas.

Was able to pick this up last night in the Heritage auction...my first ever ticket stub. This one from the 1910 season with Joe Jackson going 2-4 (against his former team) and Eddie Plank picking up the Win for the Athletics:

1919 Black Sox
Enjoy seeing any Black Sox items as well as 1919 Series related pieces. Picked up this interesting Sheet Music featuring the Sox series rivals, Cinncy Reds.

Picked up a few photos last night on RMY. They had a nice selection of Black Sox. I lost two and won three that I was bidding on. A couple of Conlon photos (Risberg and McMullen) and one Paul Thompson (Cicotte), so I was happy to add them to go with a Buck Weaver I already owned.

Here is a magazine that I've had for a long time - Top Notch Magazine dated September 20, 1914. The interview by J.A Fitzgerald covers pretty basic stuff.

Not a pickup for me (way too rich for my blood), but this ticket stub for the deciding game 8 of the 1919 World Series just ended on Heritage:
https://sports.ha.com/itm/baseball-c...kedLots-101116 $108k! It shows as the reserve being $90k and it shows highest bid of $90k (w/o BP), but it doesn't show as sold. |
Wow!

Neat ticket but more in the 50K range I'd say. One just sold this month (yes, lesser condition than the Heritage one, but still) at Hunt for 25K. |

Here's a few of my Black Sox items.

I just picked up a type one photo of Chick Gandil from 1910 (a Paul Thompson).

Bill James
Anecdotally, Maharg states he was roommates with James and Burns at the time of the fix. James has got to be the 9th man out, right?

1896 Kid Gleason Box Score With NY Giants
Outside the box but still interesting shows Gleason playing second base infield position.--during that time he would have never dreamed the implications of his future roll in Baseball--Giants beat the Browns 8-3
