I asked a simple question of whether seller provided a tracking number, and you turned it into this because I used the word "ever" (after already asking the question several times without using that word). Who is being a fool and spouting nonsense? LOL

I am guessing this is some sort of exercise for you in saying ridiculous things and then trying to argue your way around them. You might try to focus your time instead on saying things that make sense.

I'll wait for you to quote what ridiculous thing I said (given being a douchebag on a message board to someone who asked a very simple question, that every single other person who read it understood, seems to be some sort of exercise for you).

That being said, apparently they've lowered the bar so low in Ohio, one can trip over it.

What kind of world am I living in where asking the simplest of questions is so hard for some people to grasp that they can only make ad hominem attacks on the asker? It really speaks to one's intelligence when they struggle with such simple things.

I'm pretty sure this whole act of you and your pal is nothing more than an attempt to distract from the question I asked. No one is as dumb as you to appear to be. You must be trying to protect the seller from questions.

bbcard1 04-01-2025 01:32 PM

I had a fairly disappointing purchase last year where I bought a card that I wouldn't say that the scan was exactly doctored, but the chroma was turned way up and the card didn't look anything like the scan. When I reached back out to the buyer he pretty much gas lighted me...it's obviously the same card...you should have known by the grade that there was a crease (which was not disclosed even though I asked up front)...I wouldn't expect someone from Net54 not to know what to expect. I just called it a day. What looked like a good buy turned out to be a full price retail buy, but it was a somewhat scarce and desirable card so I just figured I'd consider it done and try not to worry about it any further.

Final update - the $15 or $20 to mail, but worth probably, what, $150 for 6 raw 1948 Bowmans? Well, they were delivered today to someone in Petaluma, California. I hope they enjoy them, and experience less drama with them than me.

I think if the new owner of the cards doesn't go on a message board and post a poorly worded, poorly though out rant, he or she will definitely have "less drama."

Hmmm the plot thickens . Makes me wonder if seller/shipper mixed packages/ addresses / buyers info. All in all what a shit show this turned out to be . Im sure you are i know i would be disappointed.

P.s. I really hope those Bowmans make their way to you eventually.

2) Your wife.

Hopefully like most the recipient gives the misdelivered mail back and you still receive them.

Now I also feel sorry for Octavio. Looks like he might have mispriced/fat fingered the sale price and sold $150 worth of cards for $15. Now it is very apparent it clearly wasn't about $15.

Well that's proof positive that the seller mailed them anyway. So in any event that answers your first concern.

It looks like it's six beater commons worth about $30

Don't want to get involved in this thread, but I would like to say that I agree with cardsagain74's appraisal - 48 Bowman commons in fair condition are worth about $5 each - so Octavio did give a good deal on them, just not an insane deal.

You're delusional. Anyone can search "1948 Bowman commons" sold lots on EBAY and find a lot of recent sales between $5 and $10 each for commons in FR-GD, or about $10 each in around VG.

There's a reason Octavio priced them where he did.

All I'm saying is your username is all people know and is usually your word if your a good member/seller/buyer or not. Why would someone jeopardize that on a $15.00 sale?

It makes no sense..

Octavio?

Some serious competition, no doubt. But Chao's musings on the Virginia Tech shooting, which at one point somehow led him to be thankful for sports and at the same time to wonder what would happen if Barry Bonds had a gun, was IMO unsurpassable. Not to mention his asking, in all seriousness, how Joe Jackson avoided being spiked if he didn't wear shoes.

WTF. Sorry to hear that, I am hard pressed to think of an explanation.

That's because you don't have a full grasp of the dynamics at work here. Consider:

1) The USPS is a government agency. Therefore the profit motive isn't a factor here. It's not their money so nobody cares (or gets fired).
2) The more convoluted the journey, the more man hours the journey requires. This facilitates empire building by the postal workers' union while at the same time increasing job security for the individual employee.

So it's a win, win situation for the post office workers. The only losers are those tracking the shipment and complaining about it on discussion forums.

;)

Lesson learned - USPS is a shell of it's former self. If you must use USPS, pay the difference and insist on Priority Mail or better.

Lesson learned - Post nothing until you gain the facts. Especially in a public forum.

Lesson learned - (learned over and over and over) If it seems too good to be true, it is.

Lesson learned - There are a lot of true hobby experts on this forum, who offer good, sound advice, and who are truly helpful when things go wrong.

Lesson learned - There is another element that seems to exist only to appear all-knowing. In attempting to "one up" them, it escalates into an ill-conceived rant, giving them the satisfaction they desperately crave.

Lesson learned - NEVER post your misfortune in a public forum.

Hi timothy hope your well tracking was provided but the problem was the post office sending this package all over the country. Jim is a good person who acted to fast before seeing the facts. Its not the $15 he wanted the cards and that sucks they went in a whirlwind. In all my years here never has this happened. Sorry for delay my mom has dementia its been a tuff week , best octavio great day everyone…

Thank you for the response. I just want to clarify. Jim said in post 1 that he had not received a tracking number prior to making this thread, although he had asked. The problem in the initial post does not appear to be that the post office sent the package all over the country, but that he claimed you would not send him the tracking or photo (see below). He then indicated in post 34 that he received a photo of the package with tracking information after making this thread. Is this accurate? Or are you saying you provided the tracking number before this thread was made? Thanks.

Maybe the USPS decided that a Greyhound Travel Pass was the most economic delivery option and your package decided to get its money's worth.

Today's a special treat because you don't often get to run into one of these creatures in the wild! The locked thread is one of the most interesting in the whole internet outback, but not much is known about the life of this fascinating beast. Now I'm going to teach you all about the stages of The Locked Thread's life. Come along!

1. First the thread is born into the internet outback full of hope and optimism, but it's gotta watch out! It's a dangerous place out here.

2. The other inhabitants of the outback start circling the thread, studying its every move. Will this thread be a friend or foe. The inhabitants start picking sides.

3. Oh crickey! A battle has taken form by The Locked Thread between two other inhabitants. These can get vicious and down under we call them "the battle for the last word."

4. The Battle for the Last word becomes the paramount thing in the life of The Locked Thread. These engagements can last for days and add mutiple pages to the thread. Now it can easy for other inhabitants to get sucked into these fights but they have to careful! These creatures battling for the last word are ornery fellas and they often have letters attached to their title following their name and they'll use that sharp education to cut down any bystanders wanting to join in the fun.

5. Someone posts a card.

6. Bored with current activities, some bystanders will try to return to their daily lives. Common activities in this section of the Outback include referencing Seinfeld and name dropping obscure 1940's Jazz performers born West of the Mississippi.

7. One inhabitant seeing the chaos the new thread has brought into the land, sees an opportunity for an easy meal and posts something as close to political as possible - but without being political - hoping to out a prey that just can't help but take the bait. But be careful matey the Apex Predator of the land is watching closely and his ban hammer can take out any inhabitant of these plains with one swing!

8. Oh no! The Battle for the Last Word has taken a turn. These two furry creatures have done forgotten what they were battling for and are now fighting over something else - usually meanings or interpretations. If we're lucky we'll see one of them quote Webster's Dictionary!

9. Weary from days of strain the new thread weakens. It grew to big to fast and now no one even knows what its place in this outback is even for...

10. Circling the new thread from the beginning, the Apex Predator of the land - The Mighty Moderator - mercifully puts it out of its misery and locks it forever. But don't worry friends, the Locked Thread served its purpose and is an important part of the internet outback's ecosystem. See you fellas next week!

And I quote from the (original) 1st post.

"Tracking and a photo show delivery."

See quote 3 posts above where he said he had the " tracking number in the PHOTO all along"

Well, they did not come to me. Seller won't send me the tracking number or the photo. So I am out the money, and no cards.

I have learned this hard lesson over and over...if it seems too good to be true, it is.

Not that I want to keep beating this dead horse, but you kind of left out something important from your quote that I highlighted in red from the original post. The OP was saying he never received the tracking number but was told delivery was shown by the seller.

Unfortunately the quote doesn't show the graphic, but I laughed out loud when I saw your post.

Only to someone who can't read.

Reading is very hard, so I sure hope you get some much needed practice. If your calling involves reading, you might look for another calling.

Maybe shoveling manure is more your speed.

I think we need more eye candy at this juncture:

This thread died yesterday, before republicanass decided to put his foot in his mouth.

It's time to let it die.

An awesome member and I are going through a similar situation; my man has been on it since the get go. He put an insurance claim in about a week ago. Package has been MIA since 2/24. Do these things ever turn up out of the blue? Since the claim went in, I can’t track the package any more. Kind of sad. A 115 year old card winding up in some facility In Philadelphia

Ahhhh, no. She's English. That's Hammer Horror starlet Madeline Smith:

She went on to play Miss Caruso in the James Bond flick Live and Let Die.

That's because you can't read either.

Both tiger8mush and jayshum both put him in his place as well. It seems literate people have no trouble understanding this.

I had a package that made the trip all over the US and turned up over a month later. There is hope.

jingram058 04-05-2025 04:54 PM

Uhhh...just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water...take a look at this. Yes, Octavio's package WAS marked as "Out For Delivery". But I think whoever received it realized it wasn't for them, and now it's back in circulation again. This beats anything:

Peter_Spaeth 04-05-2025 05:02 PM

You previously reported they had been DELIVERED. Was there a scan showing an actual delivery? Out for delivery is not the same thing. That just means it was given to the carrier.

If I said delivered, I misspoke. But I think it did get delivered, and whoever received it did as I have done when someone else's mail is in my mailbox. I write "not at this address" on it, put it back in the mailbox, and the carrier takes it away.

Its not the $15 he wanted the cards and that sucks they went in a whirlwind. In all my years here never has this happened. Sorry for delay my mom has dementia its been a tuff week , best octavio great day everyone…

Anecdotal but Relevant :

So today I receive from my local Post Office - 3 different packages - all containing car parts - all addressed to someone that lives in Washington State.

Over 1 year ago - I moved here to Central Missouri.

USPS should probably introduce a basic Reading Skills test for all potential employees.

Won't be done. That would interfere with whatever DEI initiatives they have in place.
