Do you guys think surges in submissions and added delays hurt or help grades?
|
Curious any updates from submitting at philley in early March?
|

I have one order back already and another that is still just "received" |
I’m at 15 days after submitting on 3/14 at the Dallas show
Hoping the 20 days mean I get cards by next Friday |
Quote:
I'd email....but I don't want to bog down their time responding to pointless emails instead of getting to the actual grading... |
How long
After entering "post grading" before you typically get grades?
|
Business day #38. I did end up emailing, and got a generic reply stating that "certain orders involve cards that require a bit more in-depth research to ensure they are accurately identified and meet the SGC Guarantee."
Granted....my orders often fall into this category. But I usually see *some* movement as items get shifted around, marked "do not grade," etc. |
I am a month in today (22 business days) from when I handed them my cards at a show on March 22. Dead in the water status
|
Today is Business Day #19 for my 18-Card Order, and it looks like it just went to Post-Grading; I'm guessing It'll ship this afternoon or tomorrow. FWIW- the estimate was 5-10 days when I sent these.
|
Business day #24, still sitting as Received. I really don't like where this is likely headed for the hobby.

This is what happens when people send one crappy card after another that shouldn't be graded. If I see one more 69 Clemente in an SGC 3 holder I'm gonna puke!

SGC isn't capable of handling PSA's runoff from now taking 65-75 business days. The holding company has clearly decided to not increase staff at either to handle demand despite huge submission numbers, so the customer will suffer, and we'll continue to see amazing craftsmanship such as this...

Even a two month turnaround time is light years ahead of PSA. Guess we should be thankful, huh?

I have an order there now and it has been in post-grading for two days and counting. I was part of the 5-10 business-day times and on Day 22 overall since received. |

(and a few of mine they chose not to grade....part of me wonders if that was because it'd take more time to do so...) |
SGC processing
SGC took a handful of cards from me at the Strongsville show, which were
back at their offices on April 11. I paid at the $15/card for 15-20 day turnaround rate. I won't mind if they are a day or two off when the time comes. It would be a bad thing if it gets to the "Will I even be alive when these cards arrive at my home?" stage- that's PSA's claim to fame. Trent King |

The time I was stuck in post-grading hell, they told me it was because a few of the cards were odd shapes and required special cuts. Fingers crossed that I'm out of post-grading tomorrow. |
I gave SGC 17 cards at the Chantilly Show on April 5th. The SGC rep mentioned that it might be well into May before I got my cards back. Especially as there were some "unusual" cards in my sub, I told the rep, "no problem," because accuracy is more important than speed to me.
|
My order is complete and shipping back to me. They must have saw my post 2 days ago haha j/k.. very pleased overall with my order, except for one shocker. My order was 30 standard cards, mostly pre war. I threw in a 1980 Topps Henderson rc and it came up as counterfeit.. why anyone would counterfeit this card or anything 1980s is beyond me. The card looked mint-ish to my eye and was hoping for a 8 or 9
Hope everyone else waiting starts to see some movement |
I had a group of 18 check in yesterday. Now I guess we'll see what happens.
|

So 30 business days, or 6 weeks. Honestly, still much faster than PSA and the grades came back better than expected, so no complaints here. Hoping they will improve their times after the special that ran, but I’m re-setting my expectations to 4-6 weeks for now. |

Cards dropped off March 23 at the White Plains show, just got into post-grading today.
|
My cards were received 3-20 graded 4-16 and sitting in post since. Not sure if the blanket is holding up the order or what🤷🏻 just 6 cards total.
James G |
3/25/25 received, 4/22/25 graded and arriving back on Monday. Hopefully they can ride this wave and get back to their bread and butter.
|
Argh. Another month goes by and still no grades. But at least it's in post-grade processing....
(submitted on 2/12) |
Stuck in post-grading processing limbo. This part seems far longer than usual (it's been at least 2 weeks in limbo). The order is now on business day #56, still waiting to see my grades...
**EDIT** It finally shipped, and grades posted. Phew! |
SGC processing times
Trying to keep up with the spirit of the original post. My cards submitted
at Strongsville are now a business week behind the "20" day part of the 15-20 day turnaround. Not great, especially given my track record with SGC turnarounds. Still not a disaster yet. Hoping to see posted grades this week. Trent King PS- my submission was <10 cards with no unusual sizes or obscure sets. |
My batch of 15 standard size cards was received by SGC on 4/12, and still just shows as "Received". As others here have expressed... very disappointing.
|
I submitted 9 standard cards at Strongsville, marked received 4/13, and they just moved to post grading 5/19.
|
I submitted six cards at the Strongsville show on Friday, 4/11. They were marked Received that day and nothing has changed 27 business days later. One odd sized card, but not oversized. This is annoying.
|
I submitted mine 4/4 at Chantilly, realistically they got them back to grade 4/9. Currently still in post processing.
SGC busier than ever? I thought they were dying and getting phased out lol. |
Walkthrough Received and turned around today (Got a number of emails, all at the same time - receipt, refund, and tracking) - was too fragile to slab, so that more than likely influenced the turnaround.
|
SGC processing times
HOF Forever- You and I are in the same boat, my submissions from the
Strongsville show were also 4/11. Just today I got a note on my SGC account that the cards were graded May 19. Neither the grades nor the photos show on the dashboard yet, though. SGC definitely exceeded their turnaround time on this one. I'd estimate I'll have the cards in hand just after Memorial Day. Not a disaster, just out of character based on previous interactions with them. Trent King |
Trent,
Looks like I spoke it into existence. My submission changed to Post-Grading yesterday. Still no pictures or grades but at least it's progress. |
Re: SGC
My Strongsville submission was mailed back to me Monday.
|
That same weekend of Strongsville, SGC was taking submissions at 3 other Trade shows... so 4 total shows that weekend alone.
Must have hit them pretty hard, but my cards finally moved to "post grading" yesterday (still no published grades). At least it's a sign of progress. |
Mine are shipping out today, so only a day in post grading. 29 business day turnaround time total.
|
I'm still in recieved mode from the Dallas show drop off
|
Submitted 4/16, received 4/23 no movement.
|
Had 5 show received since 4-22-25, today, 5-23-25 went to post-grading. Went for the 15-20 turn around time.
So what would happen if someone pays for the immediate service? it shows 1-2 day turn around time. I'm guessing there is no way that can be accurate? I'd sure hate to pay all that extra and still wait days or weeks. Anyone know the true turn around time on their "immediate" service. |

15 card order
I submitted 15 cards...mixture of T206s and golden age vintage at Strongsville on April 12th. Received them today. So about 6 weeks.
Still months quicker than PSA. I haven't looked at the grades yet since I plan on making a YouTube video showing them. Hopefully I'll get some pleasant surprises... |
SGC processing times
I'm right on with Donmuth. Submitted April 11 and in hand today, May 25.
That's a 6-week total turnaround. About 2 weeks behind the stated time, I'll take it though. One observation- once my submission got the "post grading processing" status update on their site, things went really fast. Trent King |
On April 5th, I submittd 17 cards (14 pre-War & 3 post-War) to SGC at the Chantilly Show. These are NOT run-of-the-mill cards. The SGC web site showed the cards were graded on May 13th and in "Post-Grading Processing." On June 4th, I emailed the SGC rep I have communicated with in the past and asked him to kindly find out if there is something specific that is delaying my order. On June 6th, I received an email from SGC notifying me that my order is being shipped and the FedEX tracking number. Today, Sunday June 8th, I received my cards.
I am pleased with the grades overall, as most were what I expected or better. I am even more pleased that the three W514 cards of Sam Rice with printed (I believe) ad backs - Barker Bread, Hendlers Ice Cream, and Mother's Bread/Besta Cake - that I submitted not only received numerical grades, but the advertisers are noted on the labels. I was concerned they wouldn't be, because SGC no longer will note the names of advertisers that are stamped on the card backs (e.g., Henry A. Johnson Wholesale Confectioner and Wool's Bread). However, all is not roses. In their 3rd go at correctly grading and labeling my 1955 Topps Hocus Focus card #3 of Dick Groat, SGC got it wrong again. The incorrect results thus far are: - 1st go: This card was erroneously labeled as a 1956 Hocus Focus card #1 of Groat. BTW, my sub did also include a 1956 Hocus Focus card #1 of Groat. SGC put identical labels on both the 1955 and 1956 cards! - 2nd go: The SGC label now shows the correct year and correct card number. But, the new label says "Authentic - Minimum Size Not Met." This card measures exactly the size it should, as stated in the Standard Catalog of Vintage Baseball Cards. SGC will not tell me what reference they used to determine that minimum size was not met. - 3rd go: This 1955 card #3 of Groat is graded a 2, which pleases me. However, the label again erroneously identifies this card as a 1956 Hocus Focus card #1 of Groat. Sigh! I'll give this card to SGC at the upcoming Chantilly Show for a 4th go at getting it right! |
They received about 10 cards from me on 5/27. Still in Received today, 6/17.
|
I am happy to report on my SGC submission. Cards received into their system on 6/4 and grades posted on 6/25. I think that works out to 15 business days.
|
I'm on business day #25. But my stuff is usually tricky for them to ID....
|
Mine show graded on 7/7, so it's been stuck in post-grading processing for almost 2 weeks. You would think that would be the easiest logistics to streamline and speed up......
|
Wonder if it's related to the leadership shakeup....but this order arrived at SGC exactly 2 months ago. And it's been stuck in post-grading limbo for 24 days. I emailed them...
|
I fear I'm sounding like a broken record. Are people still getting back their SGC orders?
https://i.ibb.co/60L5Bj0n/Screenshot...8-26-09-PM.png Over a month in post-grade processing. Emails not returned. Sigh. I understand that my orders might require more initial research, double-checking, etc.....but what would hold-up the order after the cards were graded? |
Yes, I received both of my July subs back, one from 7-7-25 and one from 7-14-25(received dates).
|
I dropped off two card at the National on 8/1. Still sitting at Received, although it's only been about 6 business days into the stated 15-20 day turnaround time.
|
I was part of a 200ish card sub of vintage that was logged in on 8/1 and as of 8/11 was apparently in post grading.
Do not understand how Collectors was able to stop in the flow of subs to SGC like that at the same time they depleted the company of resources but it is like they just flipped a switch. Or maybe people have just stopped submitting assuming the brand is vanishing? |
Quote:
|
I submitted, I think, a week or so before they announced the brand was probably going away. Maybe it helped my turntime? Just got a notice saying my cards had shipped. Just less than 30 calendar days from my shipping to SGC return shipping.
I wish everything was this quick. |

Last weeks numbers. I expect them to go under 100k a month in short order. Maybe this will help with turn around?

I've found it interesting that I've also been hit with numerous emails from PSA offering a discount on first grading submission. I have plenty of PSA slabs but have never subbed with them myself. I've gotten 3-4 emails from them since submitting my last SGC order and I never got those sorts of emails before. I'm not going into speculation mode here but I've got my own ideas of what's going on. |

Collectors (the company) is purposely and intentionally slowing SGC down, limiting their resources, reducing their headcount, etc. Do you really want to deal with a corrupt and monopolistic company that purposely makes your grading experience as miserable as possible?
A PSA boycott would send Collectors a much-needed message, but the collecting sheeple are way too blinded and addicted to do anything other than throwing money at them. Very sad... but thankfully (aside from Photos, Tickets and Autographs) there are still many forms of memorabilia that the sheeple don't feel the need to put in a slab. |
My first of three National orders just finished and is on it's way back, one other is in post, and the third is still just "received"
|
Submitted 5/21, received back 8/18. Phew! Finally!
Turns out part of the problem was they damaged one of my cards in the process (and reimbursed me - I'm satisfied). But while I understand that caused some delay....it shouldn't have caused such a shutdown in my order. |
I also had a card damaged in last submission and it’s pretty clear cut because it was a Reholder. They did major damage to the border of the card and fortunately I had scans before I sent it. Waiting to see what they are going to do to mitigate. Fortunately I claimed the value and it was in a sealed SGC slab so not sure they can dispute it.
Anyone have any experience with this? My first reholder damage claim. Geoff Bedine Premier Card Collectors Since 1977 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
For both the damaged cards mentioned, what type of cards?
That is concerning about the recent uptick in damaged cards. I saw two posts on FB this week about the same thing. What is going on in Boca? |
My National order is shipping back today. 13 business days including drop-off day. It did spend 5 business days in post-grading, which seems unusual.
Damaging a bunch of cards would be a diabolical way to slow submissions 😂 |
My card was a Montana Rookie. An SGC 8.5 that was near flawless but the slab was scratched badly. Looks like they cut the edge of the border or did the damage with whatever tool was used to pick up the card.
They were responsive and sent a return label and they have the card in their possession. Waiting to hear back from them. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a1a72c97d3.jpg Before Photo https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3104d67c23.jpg After Photo Geoff Bedine Premier Card Collectors Since 1977 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I'm sure SGC will make it right for you. I'm sorry you have to go through this on your card. Grading is always a risk these days.
|
Update:
SGC literally just called me. They said it was actually something inside of the slab and not on the card. They reslabbed it at same grade and are sending back. I will say that SGC is much better at communication than PSA. Geoff Bedine Premier Card Collectors Since 1977 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

On a brighter note, glad your card is okay and that SGC made it right. |
I submitted a 20 card order with SGC at the National and just got them back today. That's 23 days elapsed from drop off to arrival at my door in the UK. That's not too bad. I'm pretty pleased. Overall the grades were as expected - some were even a little better than I expected :D
|
I did a 34 card order at the National and also received today.
Geoff Bedine Premier Card Collectors Since 1977 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Has anyone else noticed a trend for SGC moving toward PSA's lengthy lag times? I sent in a few vintage cards three weeks ago, and they have yet to show "Received" for my order, although they did call about two weeks ago to upcharge me for one card.
|
I'm on day 38, but at least it's in post-grading processing....
