I’m at 512, one Cobb bat on away from being done, (my version of done)

First T206 I’ve added in a while. Please bump my MN up to 133.

B O'Brien 12-07-2024 04:33 PM

Since I’m not a set collector I never really thought about my monster number, but as I’m digging through the spread sheet I decided to put it together.

Current Monster number is 90.

Monster HOFer Number is 72.

Master HOFer Monster Number is 103.

Current Master Monster Number 127!

Thanks,
Bob

Looking at the list, I was at 306 in January 2022. Bump me up to 318 with the arrival of Jimmy Sheckard today.

I guess the 2025 goal would be adding about 20 or 30 cards.

505. I've been crushing it lately

I have 20 but am looking at buying a Plank. How much would that get me?

I'm at 518 and will probably stop there...now upgrading some beaters.

Howe’s Hunter 12-10-2024 07:09 AM

Several major changes since I last updated

New Name: Howe's Hunter (previously StuckInOmaha)
# of Cards: 417 of 522 (there is no possibility of a Demmit or O'Hara in this collection)
Updated: December 10, 2024 (last updated Sept. 29, 2012)

brianp-beme 12-10-2024 08:26 AM

Looks like the last update (and last post , AND last activity of any type) by Bob, the Monster Number caretaker, was almost 9 months ago. Hopefully all is well in Monster land...perhaps if we don't hear back from him after a month or two, someone else can man the helm? Hate to see Frank's creation wither on the vine. I would do it, but I am already overwhelmed with the responsibilities of manhandling two similar competing, and some might say, superior threads (the E90-1 Kraken and T205 EGGS). And I don't think Frank would want his legacy to tarnish under the control of such a rapscallion such as myself.

So perhaps my little missive above will get things rolling again.

I would be willing to manage the Monster Number list. Frank started the original thread around the same time I joined Net54. I've followed it (and this one) ever since.

I don't claim to be the best person for the job; however, I've got the time and enthusiasm.

brianp-beme 12-12-2024 12:40 AM

I did receive an indication from another member that Bob is okay and probably is just very busy. I believe several months more is a reasonable amount of time to hear back. I do think Eric would make a fine and dandy replacement if the situation arises, as enthusiasm is a key ingredient (as is a keen awareness of numerical order). Eric assuredly has both, and a bonus for him would be the ability, if desired, to somehow end up with the first Monster Number over 1000, a feat I'm surprised Frank didn't accomplish while the thread was under his control.

We have already had 2 members reach 1000.

But only the current Monster caretaker can get away with having a personal Monster Number over 1000, and thus be at the top of the T206 collecting heap...a potential perk of the job.

A year plus later and I am at 517. Trying to figure out if I have the milk money to get an Elberfield Washington, or if I am done. Those pesky Polar Bear variations are out of my league, so I will curl up next to my T213 Demmitt that has the StL on the jersey and be happy.

Really? You don't think people would want to see pictures of the Wagner, Plank and Doyle? Wouldn't people be suspicious if they weren't provided?

I guess I don't understand the scoring system. How do you get more than 1000 points? I thought if you had every card, that was 1000 points.

Hi rats and Al, just an example of my sense of humor in action. The way Frank set up the Monster, 1000 is the highest possible score. But the person running the thread could claim a score higher than 1000, because, dang it all to heck in a handbasket, they are the Monster King and thus entitled to have the absolute best T206 set in all the Net54 kingdom.

It all refers back to the rivalry between Frank and I as the creators of similar threads, Frank with his Monster, and my E-90-1 and T205 (superior) rip-offs. All of course in the effort to goose Frank's gander, if you get what the flock I am talking about. Hopefully Frank is reading this so he can respond in his usual accordian fashion (that's a polka to Frank's ribs)

I imagine the Keith Olbermann collection could have a Monster Number greater than 1,000. Olbermann acquired a number of T206 proofs that were not issued for general circulation.

Good point.Eric...I vote an asterisk beside the Monster Number for each un-issued T206 proof card that a collector owns.

Just started collecting T206s in June, 2024 and would like to be added to the list. Also, s/o to everyone on this forum. I reference it often and it has been incredibly insightful since my return to collecting. Looking forward to periodically updating this number in 2025. Thanks!

My monster number: 7
