There are two in PSA/DNA's population report, but I haven't seen hide or hair of them. I've seen signed copies of his 1954 Topps, his 1952 Topps, and every one of his Bowman issues, but never a 1953 Topps.

Scott, are there known, autographed examples of all cards from the 1953 Topps set, or are there some that are not known to exist?

There are known examples of all of them, though there are four (Fox, Vern Bickford, Les Fusselman and Bill Norman) that I personally have never seen, either in a collection or up for sale.

Thanks John, it certainly has been a labor of love putting it all together. But I've enjoyed the journey. Of the 11 I need, there's the four I mentioned that I've never seen, and three others (Dick Kokos, Jim Gilliam, and Johnny Riddle) that I've only seen once. Then of the last four, three of them (Mantle, Billy Martin, and Stachel Paige) are readily available, I just haven't pulled the trigger for a few reasons, these days cost among them. The last one, Vern Stephens, I first saw at the end of 2020, and since then three of them have gotten away from me.

I would guess that an autographed Mantle or Paige would be very expensive. Around what would they go for?

I remember passing on Paiges at $1,000, and thinking that anything over $1,200 was overpriced, but they've been creeping up since the pandemic started, and the last two sales I'm aware of were between $3-4,000 about a year ago. For Mantles, they used to start around $5-6,000 before the pandemic, since then they've been all over the place. I've seen as low as $5-6,000, a few around $10,000, and as high as $19,000. On both, they don't change hands as often as they used to.

Clearly another one I need to upgrade when my set is done..:)

Finally I can post a card that doesn't need upgrading...:)

Since this thread started I have added 45 cards to my set, and have updated 4 I have posted. Loving how this is motivating me to finish this set that was on the backburner, and given me a new appreciation for the beauty as well. My goal is to not have an open card on the day it needs to be posted. Currently the next card I need is #76 (picked up Bob Feller this weekend at a local show, phew!) so I have time to keep going. Considering I still need Paige, Mays, Gilliam, and Podres...they are now on a time limit...:) I also picked up #280 Milt this weekend too, so nice to have the last card! So again, thanks all who are posting for the motivation...

Thanks Georj! I've seen that one before, and have questions about it that have kept me away. The J, for example, is detached from the rest of his name. He didn't sign like that until later in life, when he wrote each letter separately. In that one, the other letters are still connected.

Thank you John! I picked it up about year ago, after having lost out on a few other Campanellas. Even better that I was able to pick it up from a board member.
