Nice Jeff.

Wow, incredible pickups, Jeff.

Jeff, any chance I could have the name of your stock broker? Please? Gotta be the pickup of the year. Congrats. John

Great cards, Jeff! |
By my count, I'm the 20th to congratulate Jeff for his fantastic pick ups!
But Jeff, what I really want to know is, how could you refrain from picking up the Boston Garter of WaJo to go along with the BG of Cobb? :) |

I never really liked the strip cards very much, but this is one way to pick up an early Ruth at a reasonable price. Plus, the card actually has better colors than seen in the picture.
|
I refuse to post any of my modest pick-ups from this month after seeing all the eye-candy from the previous few pages. Congrats to you all!

Another "0" number 1887 Old Judge knocked off the want list:

Baseball players sure dressed funny back then.:D
|
Yes, he played for the Striped Sox. They were a low budget team who could not afford pants or jerseys, only hosiery.

Frederick Foto Babe Ruth

Just picked this up.
|
Wow....
|
Dang!
What an incredible month for pickups. Sweet Ruth! |
Ethan-If Frederick Photos were issued in 1921 why do they have Ruth in a Boston uniform? Also, any idea how these cards were distributed?
|

Nice cards all, I traded in some Genworth Financial stock for the Ruth...
|
Quote:
From what I can recall, Frederick Foto was a Northern California company and was the photographer of the Sacramento Senators. Many of the cards in the set picture PCL players, so that makes sense. |
Frederick Foto Babe Ruth
Yes, I think that Kevin has it right on this issue. The cards are very scarce. I believe only a few Ruth's have been graded by SGC and PSA. Love the pose, size of the card and the image of him with a bat in a Red Sox uniform.
|
Thanks guys! This is luckily my second one. Orlando my plan wasn't to get one per son lol, but that would be great! I traded Ethan my Frederick Foto for the PC, so it worked out well for both of us. Ethan that's a fantastic card.
Ryan, and everyone, super pickups this month. The hobby is doing well in August! |

About two months back I was able to knock off most of the Billy Nash cards and variations I needed in a fantastic deal with a very cool Net54'er. This one being my favorite of the bunch. Thank you!
|
Great pickup Jason. Obviously, that is Nash tagging Radbourn.
|
Thank you Jay. For some reason SGC wouldnt slab it that way. I had it on the submission form.
|
Wow, the 54`ers are hotter than ever, fantastic items guys ! Special kudos to Ethan and that beautiful Foto Ruth. Really enjoy seeing the Babe in a Boston uniform. GO SOX............................ !!!

Love the '10 Pirates Spring Training cabinet photo!

This is a crazy month for p/u's, nice cards for sure. Like the Cobby Brian.
This came this weekend, the slab is huge, 5/8" thick and could probably be used as a weapon. I believe this to be Wags earliest image and he is still with Louisville prior to the 16 team expansion about to take place. Super clean image and a great bio on the back. I had to build a shelf in the safe so it would fit, pretty stoked to say the least. Sorry for the huge images. |
Quote:
For what it’s worth, there are a few team cabinets and pins that have images that pre-date his M101 image (1895 Warren and 1896 Paterson teams come to mind), but who cares? Your piece kicks arse!!! That would look great in any collection!!! |

I'm broke, but happy :D These were found together at a flea market in York, PA and then graded at the National.

they're fantabulous btw!
|
No, I bought them from the guy who found them, and he paid flea market prices. He said the seller didn't realize the back was anything special. Which makes me think the two cards have probably been together for a long time. Maybe even ever since they were pulled from a pack.
