1950's Polo Grounds Banner Promoting Giants Pre-Game TV
1 Attachment(s)
I got this in auction years ago. It hung in the Polo Grounds Press Box, where the pre-game show was broadcast. The lot included an antique portable microphone with chest harness that was also used in the show.

Gehrig Huskies Cereal

Here's a mounted 1937 12" x 20" (measured from the middle) insanely rare poster promoting HUSKIES CEREAL to the IGA (Independent Grocers Alliance) and featuring as HUSKIES pitchman, "The Iron Man of Baseball"... LOU GEHRIG!
Also posting an 8" x 10" vintage original TYPE 1 photo that I acquired some 16 years ago from the Christy Walsh Family (Gehrig's Agent) as Lou and a couple of fine lads are getting ready to enjoy a bowl of HUSKIES! Attachment 280098 Attachment 280099 |
Early Metal Spalding Sign

Love seeing all the great signs and advertising pieces...here's an early Spalding sign I have with my collection...
Not sure why the pic is sideways...sorry, maybe someone else knows how to edit/fix it for you all... |
That Spalding sign is absolutely fantastic!! Love it!!!!
|
Wow, Lowenbrau. Do they even still make that beer?
Love that Giants banner. I always thought they were on WOR-TV, not PIX. Mike |
also had that type Spalding sign that I sold to Bushings 20 years ago. Found it in an auto repair shop as it was covering a hole in the loft floor which I could see from the ground. Said I could have it if I filled in the space with something else

Ad Signs
Wow! These signs are unbelievable.
I especially like the recent Spalding and Gehrig. I'm sure that Giants piece will be a favorite as well. Clint... do you have that displayed somewhere? That thing looks huge! |
Mark, I don't have it up yet but am going to do it very soon. You have some amazing Oriole signs. I'll also agree that the Spalding signs are incredible.

Ad sign?
1 Attachment(s)
I'm not sure this really fits as an advertising sign, but I'll post it anyway. If it doesn't fit just scroll past it really fast...
The Earl photo was in one of the Ezrine Auto Centers in 1978. I have a couple of these with different players pictured and the photos were basically just glued to a wooded type frame with a plaque attached. Most have come off of the frame, but if I ever display I'll glue 'em back on. |

Thanks! I try to have fun with each project. Just like everyone else on this thread, I like advertising with a baseball tie-in. Unfortunately, with the old ads, it is getting harder and harder to get a picture signed (in person). |
Cubs poster
1 Attachment(s)
I always have wondered if this sign might be a reproduction. It was purchased at a show in 2009 and repo or not, I liked it and it was too cheap to pass up.
There is another one currently for sale on ebay, which looks to be in much better condition. http://www.ebay.com/itm/162532461952?rmvSB=true Any thoughts on being a reproduction are welcome. |

Eric,
Just post the Spalding sign in every picture of your collection and you'll meet the terms and conditions of the thread :D Really how can anyone get upset over awesome memorabilia. If they do they'll get over it. Post away... |

Im not sure if it's a repo or not, but I like it either way!

Seattle Rainiers
1 Attachment(s)
Here 's something out of the mainstream, Seattle Rainiers manager and hometown hero Fred Hutchinson, circa 1959, featured in a Boyd's Coffee ad.
The thing is huge, approximately 4x6 feet. "Leo" refers to legendary longtime Seattle Indians and Rainiers announcer Leo Lassen. |

That Boyd's coffee sign is huuuuuge! That's even cooler if you have the space to display it 😁 Mark, I love all of your O's stuff! Here are a few more of my displays. The Dream Team Lay's piece may not be of the vintage that is typically posted on here, but it is still one of my favorite pieces in the PC!

Derek,
Once again some great stuff. The Spalding Advisory Staff piece pictures some real talent. Bet the Bucs fans will love that Iron City item (shoot I like it and I'm not even a Pirates fan). Rawlings item; just awesome! I have a Rawlings sign I've had forever that doesn't really go with my collecting interests, but just like it for some reason. Of course I'd trade for an interesting O's item Ha! Have fun at your sisters party... |

The Wonder Bread has such great players pictured. The colors on this piece is just fantastic. And you have two of the Honest Tobacco now... just WOW! Now... where are all those ads that picture Orioles players and or related to the O's. :) |
