Looks like McGraw died in 1985. I have seen a few of his matches but now it makes sense why I don't recall any after the mid 80's. I love when the wrestlers tell the stories but it seems even when they break kayfabe some times it is total BS. Some of the ribs I have read about over the years are just crazy. |

I always liked Ricky Steamboat. Awesome wrestler and had a great physique.
Got to meet him probably six years ago and he was really cool. This card is very tough. I have a single listed on eBay and it is intersting that it has 18 watchers. |
Man the prices of raw Wrestling All Stars have been incredibly strong of late. I honestly don't even know how to price them when I get inquiries directly from people. Very exciting to see and I sure hope it continues!
|
It is hit or miss on raw cards. Top stars are doing very well. Some cards are just a play on hoping for top condition for grading.
If there is an upswing in pricing, it is most likely because sealed/unopened sets are getting very scarce to come by. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...LH_TitleDesc=0 |

I have been getting interest from some collectors for raw cards to get signed. The guys that are still alive and doing the conventions are getting increased interest. The Jerry Lawler card has been off the charts. A PSA 6 just went for $77. A Kerry Von Erich PSA 8 went for $227.50. Big prices for these too. |

One of the primary reasons I buy multiples of cards that I already have in the same grade is to make sure I have the best eye appeal I can find. This card is beautiful. My first copy in a PSA 9 was the last time I upgraded my 1982 Wrestling All Stars Series A set and that was just over a year and a half ago. I will need to study both and see which I like better for inclusion in my #1 set but very pleased none the less with this copy.

I decided to test the market and found myself faced with a legit offer. I chose to let it go after a lot deliberation.
One of the higher priced sales ever in wrestling cards at $5,001. I am going to miss the Bruiser but he is landing in a good home. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1982-Wrestl...IAAOSwtRBbjIme |

I know of an signed Andre sale that was higher.

I just got in the mail today a fresh 1982 Wrestling All Stars Series B pack and ripped it right open.
It is standard to have some corner issues on some of the cards but overall a great pack with strong overall centering. This Ricky Steamboat has virtually no black smudge along the bottom and is extremely nice. |

I have the only PSA 9 of the Chief Jay Strongbow and this one may give it a run for its money.

This is a very strong Killer Kahn and so far only one PSA 9.
There are 16 of the 36 that went into my review stack so there are definitely a few others that will be going to PSA. |
Wow great stuff! Been looking for a reasonably priced hogan forever but almost next tom impossible!

Definitely not what I was hoping for both on grades and time. I had a bad feeling about this sub after it was taking so long that a let down was coming and it came. Oh well I guess on the bright side I didn't make two of my Pop 1's Pop 2's.

This is going to be a fun auction to follow. Very curious to see how it does. It has been a while since one of the PSA 10 Flair's has come for sale.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1982-Wrestl....c100277.m3477 |
I have been active on Twitter over the past few months and have found out some interesting information.
Famed wrestling photographer George Napolatino took a good number of the photographs used for the cards of the wrestlers who wrestled in the North East or made big appearances there. I tweeted a photo of his card to Dutch Mantel and he ended up contacting me and we discussed his card and he never was paid for it or even knew it existed for awhile. He isn't happy that he never gave consent or got any cash. He also is hip to collectors getting the cards signed and will no longer sign them at his regular fee. There is a lot of great wrestling content on Twitter so it is pretty cool to participate. |
David - that was a strong price for the Flair. At least to someone that doesn't specialize in this stuff like me.
Curious to know your thoughts on the final price of it. Quote:
|
The consignor had $2,525 in it.
Long term I think the buyer wins. |

It has been a while since I purchased a set of the 1982 A. I saw this one pop up on Sunday and initially sent a lower offer but after about a half an hour of looking at them and no response I just the hell with it and hit the BIN. The seller is from Allentown, PA where the WWF did their TV taping's at this time and it wouldn't surprise me if this set came from an original owner who got one from the mail away in the programs. I am really hopeful the seller sends them in top loaders or card savers. The centering on many are too low to grade but a handful in this lot look like they have great potential. I am very curious to see what the Andre looks like because in the pic it looks like it is NM or higher. Once I get them I will update and post some scans. |
I tracked down my mailman Mike this morning and signed for my package.
It came in a big box so I assumed they were shipped protected in top loaders or card savers. The seller mailed them in a team bag inside of a small box and thankfully they arrived in great shape. I was a little nervous about how they would be shipped and even more so when I opened the box but no problems. This is a beautiful set and they look like someone must have ordered them in 1982 and left them sitting in a safe place. I got them all in card savers and had to race out of the house and I am anxious to study them further tonight and get some scans of the better cards. A good number of these are definitely heading to PSA. |

Nice to see some All Stars being listed by an auction house. I asked on the main board and I think the price is pre buyers premium. Either way a solid showing and I am sure the buyer will really like them.

Just got these this morning. This is the nicest raw Hogan I have ever gotten. The corners are absolutely blazing on it. The Andre has tremendous surface and a little OC and the corners look better in hand then in this scan. The bottom left is definitely touched.
I was at the pool Sunday partying but always make time for a quick EBAY search and found a set listed and the Hogan was the nicest card in the lot. Sent an offer I thought would get turned down and it was accepted. These are definitely making a trip to CA! |

I check the pop report everyday and just now I went to look and saw the 10 column bump up by 1 and said to myself I bet it is a Hogan. Sure enough it was.
For PSA to award one a 10 it must be incredibly nice. It will be very interesting to see if this card surfaces. https://www.psacard.com/pop/boxing-w...s-series/54191 |
Okay so not sure what to think of this. The Hogan is not in the Pop report now. I have never once seen a 10 removed. Obviously lower grade cards have dropped off from either a cert being mailed in from a crack out or a review.
https://www.psacard.com/pop/boxing-w...s-series/54191 |
I sent an email to Steve this morning to try and find out some details and I already got an email back from Jackie and while she can't discuss specifics as it is another customers order she did confirm there is not a PSA 10 of the card.
|
It could be a card involved with the altered/trimmed card scandal, and was removed from the Pop report.

It lasted one business day. Someone asked in my CU thread why I check the population reports every day and had I not I would have never known. |
For some reason I can't get the price to come up in Watch Count but I know Greg got over 4k for this PSA 9 Mint Hogan. A new record.
It is amazing how the supply of this card in general has simply dried up. You used to be able to go to EBAY and see quite a few copies in various condition listed at one time but that isn't the case any longer. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1982-Wrestl...orig_cvip=true |

Has grading submissions slowed since the sealed sets dried up? |

We are at a point where the population totals are crawling. As to be expected at this stage of the game. I connected with a guy on Twitter recently that confirmed the production is extremely low and his parents owned the printing company. I am hoping to get some more information from him. |

I went to The Gathering in Charlotte this weekend and got a good number of cards signed. It was a great time!
My primary goal was to get Slaughter to sign the card I cracked out of a PSA 9 holder. I made sure he was super careful with it and it came out great. |
