Agreed. Ruth cards continue their popularity. Great pick ups and the montage Ruth is a wonderful card.

November has been a very good month

First are the four cards that came from the recent Huggins & Scott Auction. Thanks to board member Scott who gave me the opportunity to add them to the rebuilt collection....

Then, as a Christmas gift for our son, who finishes his Masters Degree in English Lit this coming spring, a card that has a stamp of F. Scott Fitzgerald (supposedly). When studying in France for a semester several years ago, he became quite taken with Fitzgerald, and since that time, I've been trying to find a card with his stamp (supposedly) that I could justify the price on. This was on Ebay (where the scan is just a screen shot, I've already wrapped the card), with no real mention of the stamp. Came by it pretty cheap.

Picked up what I expect to be the most difficult back in my Chief Meyers T205 back run, an American Beauty back. Just need a Cycle and a Piedmont Factory 42 to complete the run.

Thanks Luke.

You did. :) Congrats on getting it - I was hoping it went to a board member, and am really glad it's going to be a meaningful gift.

I love this thread.

I have mainly collected 1960s and 70s. I only have 5 pre-war cards and none older than 1933, but this forum and especially this thread have inspired me to pick up at least one T206 and to focus more on this era.

Thanks for sharing some really tremendous cards!

It's great when we see something in our realm and we like it so much we want one. It was the way I decided on half of my first collection.

Just picked up this Lawrence J. Corcoran N172 card, shown on Indianapolis. Word on the streets is that he also has a London variation.

Im counting this as the T209 Mascot card as I dont believe one is pictured in any other card from the issue. The backgrounds of T209 are littered with fellow teammates and I think I have a very interesting theory on one ill post soon after I think on it a little more. Oh and if anyone has the name of the 1910 Fayetteville Mascot I would be most grateful.

Thanks to seablaster Hi K I found out two brothers by the name of Napier were the Mascots for the 1910 team. Until its determined which brother it is G. or E. ill just call it the T209 Mascot Napier card.

Glad to see that went to someone on the board! I was watching it, but it wasn't in my budget. Very cool item!

Is there a card in that?

Sorry Kevin, the engineer in me needs data :) I was actually hoping for a breakdown by pose and variation.

John, at 41, your Corcoran collection must rival your entire OJ Pittsburgh team set.

z28jd 11-26-2015 06:14 PM

I have about 45-50 Pittsburgh poses.

By my count I have:
32 Indianapolis
9 London

23 hands at chest
18 hands at shoulder

12 hands at chest, P, Indy
5, hands at chest, pitcher, Indy
6 hands at chest, London

8 hands at shoulder, P, Indy
7 hands at shoulder, pitcher, Indy
3 hands at shoulder, London

Thanks to those for the compliments on my E121 Montage Ruth. As always many beautiful cards and pieces in this month's thread. Will, that Paterson Cobb is freakin sharp!

Jason W. (Hi Jason), I like your T209-2 pickups - I think you should focus on players on the teams of the 2 Carolina leagues, and forget about the Virginia League players, which are the only ones I collect! :D David Bryan (Davidbvintage on eBay) gave me a good deal on these:

My first E210-Type 2, and another card for my collection of players who were on the 1924 Washington Senators team. I'd really love to find an E210-Type 2 of Sam Rice (other than the grossly overpriced example that has been in an eBay museum for a long time).

My New Year's resolution is to get a scanner, or if I am lucky Santa might deliver over Xmas. Anyhow, pickled up a Star Candy of Herb Pennock off Ebay. Never had any Stars before and apparently this one of Pennock is the only graded example, a PSA 5. Can't wait to get it, the 1st Xmas present to myself.
