Wow! Dan and Joshue, Way to bring the thread back to life with those amazing Cobbs!!! Thanks Derek as I was glad to see my bid held up during extended time. I think it fell under the radar.

I picked this one up recently. 1908 Dietsche Cobb with "Cobb" name in shadow. I have never seen another like this. If you have one please post. Thanks

Jeff: that's my point, all the ones I have seen have his name "Cobb" outside the shadow, like the one you shown . Do you have one "in the shadow " ?
|
Mike, that's one "shady" Cobb PC

Awesome letters Jeff.
The transcription is a nice touch. |
What is the postmark on the Seamless Steel Tubes PC ? On the postcard it states that he is 21 years old, he would be 21 on Dec 18,1907. Thanks
|
October 1907. All known Seamless Cobb's that have been postmarked are from October 07 I believe. Seamless Steel Tube Co must have just decided he was close enough to 21 at time of production.

Here's one for the Cobb collector who has everything.
It will be in my auction that starts next week, shameless plug :) |
[QUOTE=tiger8mush;1777687]Beautiful cards! But, it may be time for one of these ... :)
I know, I know. I actually have a nice scanner - it took me 3 years to buy one, another 6 months for my kid to install and hook it up, and it wil probably be another year before I start using it. I do not embrace technology at all. Kevin, that fielding Cobb totally kicks ass. I hope I own one of those someday- total treasure. |

Jeff P - Those items need to be in Cooperstown. Great letter and Tubes auto'd PC. Jeff L - Well played on that RPPC from Christies and a great action shot of Cobb. Jason - Super impressive eye candy and even more amazing, they are all centered!!! Kevin - Thanks for posting the Dietsches all together, as we all all visual creatures of collecting. Since this thread has turned into a badass Cobb thread, Ill add this one of the Hubel Hotel known as Cobbzilla. |

How did I overlook this thread for so many years...
Here are my Cobbs. I focus on eye appeal over grade. And I’m coveting a Wolverine Portrait and/or a Novelty Cutlery. Sorry I’m a crappy photographer. I’ve also got a M116 Blue background, 2 1914 Polo Grounds, a Brunner’s Bread, a Rogers Peet, and a 1922 W575-2 that I can’t seem to upload. |

Memory Lane
Don’t have the card yet, but I won the Uzit bat off shoulder Cobb in the Memory Lane auction this past weekend. Not exactly the T206 I’ve been wanting, but hey it’s a Cobb! Was bidding on the ‘14 Cracker Jack insanely aggressive or what? Hopefully it was a Net54 family member who won it. I tapped out at a little over $10k on that one.

A couple of collages I made up to see how many issues could be identified by a fellow collector. Not all are postcards. Many of the items shown have a pop less than 10.

I agree, that montage is way cool. I was able to identify most but a few gave me trouble.
Everybody needs a beater Cobby in there collection. http://www.net54baseball.com/picture...ictureid=24530http://www.net54baseball.com/picture...ictureid=24531 |

Finally broke down for the greenie. Great centering, no creases, excellent eye appeal, corners a tad soft but consistent with the grade. Perhaps not purple-sticker worthy, but a solid meat-and-potatoes VG-EX, fairly priced. I'm happy.

Me too Pete. It was kind of spur of the moment, as I generally don't search ebay. But yesterday I happened to type in "T206 green Cobb" and the rest is history.
|
Congrats Barry. Thats a great looking Cobb, and I agree you got it for solid price. I especially like that its an SC 150, 25 -- a little more difficult than the fact 30 or 350, 30.
|
Thanks Ryan. A poor sister to your beauty, but I still like it a lot.:)

Thanks Michael. That one was on my bucket list.

Here's another Cobb beater;
1910 Cuban Punch to commerorate The Tigers playing exhibition games on the Island. Don't know if it's true that Bruce Petway threw Cobb out trying to steal infuriating the Georgia Peach |
Jesus craig, that's amazing. Never seen it before. Do tpg's grade that (looks like an sgc holder)? If so, what's the pop on that? Can I see the back?

Thanks Mike as the decal as around 95 percent complete. Craig, thats an awesome Punch Cobb card which to answer Orly's pop question.... it must be around 3. As most know, back in 1910, Cobb was late arriving for the two week series in Cuba. He played in only half the games, so anything from this series is super rare. Here is a RPPC from the same series. There was another RPPC that sold in the Christies auction making two different ones Ive see. |
