Thanks Eric I've always wanted one too but with the prices they ask for I had to wait for a beater with decent eye appeal. Not the greatest one in the world but I'm happy just the same.

Like the centering on this (always a key for me).

Howe’s Hunter 06-22-2015 08:08 AM

This one arrived on Friday

Number 276 in the rebuilt collection.

<a href="http://s150.photobucket.com/user/T206ster/media/276%20Chance_zpsrggr6eo8.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s81/T206ster/276%20Chance_zpsrggr6eo8.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 276 Chance_zpsrggr6eo8.jpg"/></a>

Special thanks to Bryan, Luke, Jantz, Jerry, Ben and Andy for the heads-up on this card. I always say, I'd rather get 50 emails or PMs and know about a card than have everyone think someone else has pointed it out to me, and miss the card. Thanks to all.

Ed

This is a cheapie comparatively, but love the front. Plus, tho Paper loss, the back isn't all ripped up. Will be for sale soon here on da Net:)

atx840 06-22-2015 05:42 PM

Nice Ed, love that pose.

I was very excited when this one arrived. I've always wanted a Babe Ruth card and I have always loved this pose. One of my favorites, other than his rookie, which is a little out of reach.

Congratulations, Jesse!

That's a great card. It's my favorite card, too.

Tough card to get in any condition. Nice Cobb... Congrats!

That's a really nice card (minus the pinhole). Great eye appeal!

Got one of those at the National last year. My favorite Ruth pose as well. Yours is much nicer. Congrats on a great card!

Lot of history with that photo. Love seeing the guys dressed in suits and hats. That shot is so much more than just Shoeless Joe. Nice!

peterose4hof 06-23-2015 10:43 AM

Haven't had many pickups worth sharing lately, but I did manage to grab this from Goodwin.

Can someone explain why Jackson is batting right-handed in this photo?

jp1216 06-23-2015 11:08 AM

The catcher appears left handed too. Maybe a reversed image.

Bicem 06-23-2015 11:38 AM

How did Beckett determine that to be Jackson?

pokerplyr80 06-23-2015 12:15 PM

Thanks everyone, very happy to add a Babe Ruth card. Still by far the all time greatest player, in my opinion.

Got #8 of the 14 known EPDG Pirates cards. Slow subset build in progress

baztacula 06-23-2015 12:49 PM

That is a pretty sweet card, pokerplyr80. I guess if you can’t find a Toad Ramsey, a Babe Ruth is the next best thing.

Got a few others but don't have the scans.

Finally got a Needham (raw) that I think might get a 3. Konetchy raw probably a 3.

My eye is getting better and my judgement on raw cards and potentially being graded a certain grade has improved drastically.

167 down only 69% left to tackle the monster !

Nearly finished with Bad Boys

Probably won't ever finish Overlooked (Magie error card)

1 more Horizontal to go !!! (Murphy)

Got a package from SGC today. It feels like getting new cards, even though they have just been in New Jersey for a month.

btcarfagno 06-30-2015 04:56 AM

I have been collecting movie posters for the better part of 30 years and have only ever seen 3 examples of this title lobby card for the film Play Ball With Babe Ruth.

It is an original release poster, but the funny thing is that there is some debate as to just when the film itself was actually released. The date that I have seen is 1920, but examples of the five "shorts" that comprise the movie are available on Youtube with a copyright date of 1932. Either way, posters from the film are almost non existent. Certainly far tougher than his other films Babe Come Home, Headin Home and The Pride Of The Yankees.

This will be available for sale shortly.

I love the colors on the orange background E98s. Very nice pickup Chris, I was the underbidder. I managed to snag 4 E98s in that auction but the orange McLean was one I whiffed on. With all the zillion red backgrounds and some green backgrounds in the Black Swamp Find, orange background E98s are starting to make a nice jump in value.

Super jealous of that Durham :mad::mad::mad:

Should have got his card a long time ago before I knew how scarce it was and actually had an opportunity to in my price range.

Hi Bob, I agree the Orange backgrounds are really seeing a price surge. They are the most visually appealing to me as well. I almost didn't go the last bid increment on this one, but I already had the other three colors of McLean and the completionist in me said go for it.

The auction had an amazing selection of E98s. Which 4 were you able to pick up?

I picked up an orange Chase, green McLean, orange Meyers and green Tenny (Tenney). I am in completist mode too regarding the E98s, trying to get the master set. Those 4 and the orange McLean you won were 5 I needed. Still need a couple more color variations. They are tough, but not as scarce to find as the handful of E94 color variations I need to complete that master set. The Chase, McLean and Meyers have great fronts and look like PSA 5-7s at first glance but have tiny paper loss on the backs. The Tenny is just a solid 4 and nice too.
