MY TWIN!;)
these are a thing of beauty.....I like 'em a little beat up also:D |
Took a chance on this "previously a PRO 8" that some of you might have seen on eBay. Not sure what's going on with the faded front spot, but maybe paired with the paper loss on the back it was in a scrapbook at some point and the glue/paste did the fading.
Anyway, I'm happy to check it off the list as a decent looking example at a reasonable price (best offer). I'm confident it will grade 'A', which is all I really hoped for anyway. http://www.t206.org/misc/cobbgreena.jpg |

Part of the Christmas present to myself, got a number of stars graded. Note the "Yankees" script on Ruth's bat, just in case there was any doubt. :)

My vote is real
2 clues, lettering on the bottom is not fake-looking like reprints, and the lot that I bought them from included others in as godawful condition. That it might be in two pieces without the tape is another story.

Thankful to pickup these two,
Which were priced according to the book!<br><a href="http://s8.photobucket.com/user/zouraspm/media/adjdl/14cjsmith_zpse7680876.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a47/zouraspm/adjdl/14cjsmith_zpse7680876.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 14cjsmith_zpse7680876.jpg"/></a><br><a href="http://s8.photobucket.com/user/zouraspm/media/adjdl/14cjdoolan_zps381fcbb9.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a47/zouraspm/adjdl/14cjdoolan_zps381fcbb9.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 14cjdoolan_zps381fcbb9.jpg"/></a>

I could eat a good meal on 5 bucks...just do not get the attraction. My personal preference is to pay more to get a presentable card that will hold some long-term value. But...all that said, enjoy your 'beater' |
Beater
I guess I wouldn't be so happy with it if I didn't have this card already in my collection. I was pretty pleased when I happened upon this card (the beater above) in the stack of t206s.<br><a href="http://s8.photobucket.com/user/zouraspm/media/elberfield.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a47/zouraspm/elberfield.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo elberfield.jpg"/></a>

As always beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I would be really excited to find that Elberfeld for $5. Finding a PSA 5 common for like $30 wouldn't really give me much of a thrill though. I'd buy both, but I would only post the Elberfeld here to show it off.

Pete....
I'm not trying to burst your bubble, but card looks to be "no good"...:o.....meaning reprint:) the beater elber

Not exactly earth-shaking but always loved this card--the color tones and overall feel. Too bad m116s are criminally under-appreciated.

Great Steve!

Would have missed it completely, as it was in a PSA 2 holder, but without an MK qualifier. Guess I've just fallen into the habit of not looking at PSA graded cards without the qualifier, trusting them to have done their job. Whoops. Thanks again, Jerry. Number 268 in the rebuilt collection. |
Nice Ruth, Brad! Awesome card...

Wait, Abner Doubleday's obituary says he didn't like outdoor sports? :D:D

Congrats Steve on the twins! I happen to be one myself!
Picked up another T207 catcher, Henry Severoid. He's my 20th T207 catcher. It's super clean. None of the marks are on the card in the brown background..just a bad scan. Patrick |

Nice Ruth Brian. Did you buy that today taking advantage of eBay bucks offer ? I just got one too and used the ebay bucks offer on top of a seller discount. It's one of my favorite Ruth cards. Just a great early shot of the Babe's face. Tough card to find outside of the few usual way overpriced ones on the bay.

December Bookends
Bookends, sort of.
The month started off with a couple of T207 posts and other than Patrick's catcher(s) there were few if any others. Figured I'd add one at the end of the month to come full circle. Some of these were December pickups, some December grading, and one as far back as August (though I'd have sworn it was November). Some Recruit-backs that are tough for the grade http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps82e3a163.jpghttp://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...psd5180afa.jpg some Recruits that can be tough in any grade ... http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps1f2ca3b4.jpghttp://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps03bc5f4f.jpg One Broadleaf, one Anonymous, and a Cycle http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps64460aa1.jpghttp://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...psa02631a6.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps52329574.jpg A pair of Napoleons (one back, one front) :o http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps50790904.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...psc7008ff6.jpg and finally one Recruit that completes the Factory 240 subset, 8 years and 5 months after I unknowingly started it.... http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps1e4e0b5f.jpg I suspect that could have been reworded to the tune of "a partridge in a pear tree", but so be it. Many end-of-the year thanks, to Pete, Scott, Ron, Bill, John, Mac, and everyone else that has helped out along the way. Hope you all have a great New Year! -- Mike |
Nice group of cards Mike!
|
Very nice group !
Mike,
Very nice group of T207s! The red on Tom Clarke's cap really pops! I'm looking forward to picking up some more T207 in 2015. I'm even restoring an ornate mahagany bookcase to house just T207s. Hope to complete the project by late spring. Happy New Year! Patrick |
