Matt,
I was going to put in a bid on that last night, but between my 10 mo. old running a high fever and trying to finish up a project for work, I missed it before the normal bidding time ended. Sweet card, and a pretty nice price at that. Congrats on the pickup! |
some really nice stuff. I wish my wallet was as big as some of yours. Keep the good stuff coming.

Sorry to hear your kid had a fever-- those are rough nights. Yeah, a rare deal at Heritage. I think it might've been outshined by some of their more primo offerings. I put it up against the 3s and 4s on VCP before bidding and only one 4 had it beat. The centering really struck me from first sight. Usually has pretty rugged tilt and OC. |
Thanks Jason for the low grade Hindu to complete my first C.H.O.P. set.

One of the finest old judge images I have ever seen, on an iconic card like the Ward in Street Cothes Portrait. Thanks to Chris, Pete and all the guys at Heritage for bringing cards like this to market.

This is as close as I get to cards these days :) Picked up this great scrapbook with over 200 woodcuts of which ~20 are baseball portraits from the NY Clipper (1883 and after). It contains many sports including cycling, wrestling etc. as well as a bunch of actors. Definitely one of the most unique items that I have come across.

Very nice, George, congrats.

Nice Ruth!

1918 Salt Lake City Bees
1 Attachment(s)
I don't recall if I previously posted this print from an original glass plate negative I acquired of the 1918 Salt Lake City Bees. Former Portland Beavers manager Walter McCredie is wearing his Portland jersey. The African American at the lower left, the Bees trainer, is former heavyweight boxer Peter Jackson. Sweet E95s Luke. They look amazing (and very bright!) together.
A couple pickups of mine- The Matty came a couple weeks back and the E220 Johnson was from Just Collect's listings tonight. I got a little trigger happy in the last seconds on the WaJo with eBay's one click bidding and went quite a bit higher than I'd intended:D, but am happy to pick it up. |

I took German in college so had to get a Sanella card. And I think the blue on the M116's is stunning.

Got this in the mail yesterday from a fellow board member. Thanks Brad! My framer dug up a copy of a photo likely used for the b18, and turned it around in a day (he could tell how excited I was to display it!)

Sorry, no scanner yet, guys, but picked up a near perfectly centered 1936 R312 Mize in ungraded VG just a couple of days ago. Highly underrated slugger, who would likely have had 450-480 career homers had he not lost 3 full years to WWII, .312 lifetime average, and a career OPS+ of 156, right there with Willie Mays!
Best regards always, Larry |

Thanks to a board member for the addition of the Harry Sutor 1911 Zeenut to my collection. Now looking for the D311 Pacific Coast Biscuit #64 Harry Sutor (and when I am a little richer, the T5 Pinkerton, the T4 Obak Premium, and the Western Playground Association). Also added a decent Addie Joss E90-1. Am I happy? You bet!

Crackerjack crazy. Love that set. Well last night I jumped in and snagged this 38 Goudey for my set off of Sterling. I missed out on a few 34's on ebay but went a bit higher than I was looking to spend.

Don't add too many Gibsons to my collection these days, so I'm thrilled to get this W501 from the BST (thanks again Brian):
<img border="0" width="400" src="http://www.collectorfocus.com/images/show/georgegibson/baseball-cards/18120/1922-w501" /> Also picked up the ever elusive Sovereign 460 Gibson back as I stretch to keep my T206 back run going: <img border="0" width="400" src="http://www.collectorfocus.com/images/show/georgegibson/baseball-cards/18121/1983-capital-reprint" /> Cheers, Richard. |

Not quite Tinker to Evers to Chance...
The latest addition to my steadily growing T202 collection.
The Philadelphia Athletics infield, featuring Hall of Famers Frank "Home Run" Baker and Eddie Collins, as well as Harry Davis and Jack Barry. This is the core of the group that would come to be known as the $100,000 infield starting in 1911, when a younger Stuffy McIinnis replaced Harry Davis at first base. It's my belief that McInnis should have gotten more Hall of Fame consideration than he received. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img845/1770/4yxy.png http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img835/807/4wha.png I got a great price on this, as the little "47" stamp on the middle panel's back lowered the overall score. The card itself is quite beautiful though. |

Thank you, Marty.
I know that the grade is technically correct, but I feel that this is a fine example of how a mark can actually enhance a card's overall appeal. It adds character to it. It's a subtle reminder that this card is a part of history. Quote:
