Love the oddball stuff. Three different colors.

Thanks Brian, Had to look up the reference to "Greenfield" Jimmy. I'll be over your way this weekend, have to check out the new granddaughter.

Picked up my first McLean E98. Is there somewhere I can research what other color backgrounds McLean is available in? I'd like to acquire one of each.

chris...e98's come orange, red, green and blue...normally...although other "freakish" shades may also be found...but not easily!

Very happy to have spotted this in an eBay lot. No scan of the back and no reference to the back in the title:

Jason, I was the underbidder, congrats on a tough card. I did manage to snag another T210-8 tonight. I try to buy one or two a week.

Picked up a few T206's for the first time in a long time, I really like the artwork and am picking some up here and there.
But I was extremely disappointed with the Maloney, it looks like at the bottom of the card there is some chipping, which should not have rendered such a high grade. |

Andrew's having trouble with his internet access, so I've agreed to post his latest Wagner acquisition:

Pete- glad you grabbed that E98 Mack. I believe the orange background is the toughest of the 4 Mack colors.
I grabbed a couple of cards myself tonight, two BINs of T210s I needed. |

tbob...beautiful 40s! Those are about as good as they get for that grade...congrats!

Not a card. I'd never seen them before. I'm not even sure if they're cataloged. Pretty much just a newspaper cutout. But hell, it's numbered, it's Mel Harder item that I didn't have, and it was cheap.. 1934 Boston Daily Record Baseball Scrap Book
|
Great stuff, Derek, especially the Jackie!
|
Thanks David and Phil! I've been filling quite a few holes lately. I'm up to 66.7% complete using a broader definition of HoF "rookie" cards and 49.67% (149/300) for my ideal "single-player image" rookie collection.
I still have a long way to go, but those four certainly helped! |
Well...

It has been quite a year so far, might be coming close to topping last year, which I did not think was possible. Besides the Mantle signed rookie, I just got these 6:

Happy to bring one of my first ever signed T206s back into my collection. Welcome back, Paddy!

Nice card, Jake. Weren't those previously listed as a 1909 issue?
|
This isn't a card and maybe not so valuable, but I was happy to pick it up. Page from a Providence newspaper featuring an amazing pitching duel. Not sure why the famous (infamous) Lefty Williams is called "Cy". The game was played in less than three hours! Johnson had a big hit in the 18th to contribute to the lone run. At the bottom of the page is a small article about how the White Sox are missing Joe Jackson's bat. WWI was ongoing and Jackson was working in a shipyard to avoid the draft. http://www.baseball-reference.com/bo...91805150.shtml
