Posted By: Dave S
51 years young, had the set over 60% done in mid-late '90's when I sold it to go after Cracker Jacks and T207's...now back up to about 260 cards..

Vintage cards prices will never crash. Ups and downs undoubtedly. But as long as baseball is the National Game (which will never change!!) legends like Babe, Ty, Honus, etc. will only grow...and there will always be guys with plenty of $$ to jump on them...

Posted By: barrysloate
If you can get a reservation there because of a platinum card I will be more than a little surprised. See if you can get a 6:45 (they seat only 45 minutes after each hour). That's of course the time everybody wants.

And they don't accept credit cards except their own- it's cash only. If you show up with VISA only, two large waiters will drag you into the back and beat you up.

T206 collectors.....whats the average age of collectors?

Posted By: Dave F
Michael...
I asked the board last week about the Sweet Caporal Factory 42's specifically. From what I gathered here and on T206musuem it draws a "slight"...maybe 5-10% premium. Which if the card is worth $200..no, doesn't come to alot...maybe $10-15.

Basically I listed it being a Factory 42 in the subtitle, and then mentioned in the paragraph it may be something "back collectors" are interested in. Don't know what I did wrong.

I also am to the point of not really caring who is mad at me, or dissapointed with me or anything else. My getting mad or frustrated over a freaking computer screen really isn't worth it in the grand scheme of things or even in the facet of my own household and family.

Edited to say....is it rare or scarce? Um, no. But neither is any other T206 listed on ebay outside of a Broadleaf or Uzit, etc. I've seen more than one board member here list a Chance yellow "rare" or "scarce". Just amazes me sometimes...oh well, off to grill for the family.

Posted By: MVSNYC
dave- you took this the wrong way, i'm not pist, i could care less, really...i got excited, when i saw "Rare Factory 42, 4th Dist. NC" in the subtitle...as i need to upgrade my PSA 3 Piedmont 42...then i openind the link, and saw a Sweet Caporal...that's what was dissapointing. furthermore, when you had it listed in the B/S/T page, you merely listed it as "sweet cap fact 42"...not "rare", like you did on eBay...can you see my point?

i'm not mad at you, as you shouldn't be mad at me. we have conversed many times, and i value your input to the board...don't take it the wrong way.

p.s. i honestly wish you the best on the auction...this will actually get you some free press on the card it was all in my plan, to help you out...be well, no hard feelings.

Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
I think Luger's you can get into often times on the day of the dinner. Sort of like Broadway show tickets. That being said, with a group of 6-8 it may be tougher. How about Morton's or Sparks? Both are right near the 4 train -- whichever will take us can be the one we go to - and they're like the two best in Manhattan located near Grand Central for anyone coming in (we've still got to get Frank in from LI and Al from NJ).

Sparks is my favorite steakhouse (on the East Coast but I have never been to Luger's as their lack of acceptance for my corporate Amex/no Brooklyn clients makes it tough.
