Not to break the tension, but I love Ron Darling.

I definitely prefer listening to him over John Smoltz.

Glad to see Seattle is up 2-0 against Toronto.

Both Phillies and Brewers intentionally walked Ohtani to load the bases, only to unintentionally walk Betts to push in a run.🤢

jp1216 10-14-2025 10:59 AM

That Brewers 8-6-2 DP was incredible. Certainly something you don't see every day. No excuse for the runner on 3rd not scoring on that but the other runners were so confused. I know one ump was signaling no catch and the 3rd base coach saw it that way too.
Assuming the runner on 3rd had scored - they still likely would've turned two with the runners on 1st and 2nd not advancing.

So if there were force outs recorded at third and second, the run still wouldn't have counted.

The runner from first (Edman) had actually touched second base before retreating back to first, therefore while he could be put out because 2 runners couldn't both occupy first base, the force was no longer in play for him. There is no rule against him going back to first (except it was already occupied by the batter (Muncy). So only Smith (the runner from second) could be forced out, since he never touched third base. It then becomes a timing play regarding the runner tagging and scoring from third, and if he crossed the plate before Edman was tagged out, the run would have counted.

Weird play.

Rick

Interesting. I didn't realize Edman had touched second base then went back to first. In that case, isn't he entitled to first base so it's actually Muncy, the batter, who would have to have been tug out? Either way, the run would have scored before either was tug out on first.

I love seeing Roki Sasaki come back and do well. What a great story.

What a disappointment this NLCS has been. I picked the Dodgers to win, but I thought it would at least be competitive.

bk400 10-16-2025 08:49 PM

The ALCS is interesting. You can almost feel the Blue Jays going home up 3-2.

Yes I'm enjoying this series (despite having to hear John Smoltz)

Aquarian Sports Cards 10-16-2025 09:08 PM

I wish they'd let Kershaw start game 4. If he blows it it's no big deal, but c'mon, let him go out with a chance to get a big postseason win.

Dave Roberts, he of 0-3 Red Sox fame, would never do that. I could see him putting Kershaw in to finish the clinching game on the mound, at home, if it is a blowout. That might even be cooler for Dodgers fans.

bk400 10-17-2025 07:02 PM

Forget the Brewers. Alejandro Kirk is the victory for the Everyman. Loved watching him score from second just now.

(Five minutes later: The commentators just said that he's the slowest runner in the MLB and it was the first time he's scored from second on a single all year.)

bk400 10-17-2025 08:59 PM

Holy J-sus, Shohei.

bk400 10-17-2025 09:46 PM

This is the greatest postseason performance ever. Shohei Ohtani.

BobbyStrawberry 10-17-2025 09:58 PM

He's pretty good.

Good luck! Whatever the outcome, enjoy the memories with your son. Playoff Games with your kids are special, special Game 7s.

Are they having another $1 hot dog promotion?

In any event you'll have to sneak in your own Cracker Jack to complete the experience.

Canada vs. US in the World Seies, baby !!! Come on, Jays !!! Make it happen !!

Balticfox 10-20-2025 02:10 PM

Canada my sweet ass. The Toronto Blue Jays are nothing but a bunch of imports. They're as American as the stars and stripes with a side order of salsa. I'll embrace them as my Canadian team the day they start a Canadian majority on the field - which I understand will be a cold day in hell.

I've actually actively resented how Torontonians have embraced the Blue Jays as their team since the late 1980's. The same Torontonians who now claim to be part of the "Canada first" contingent are the very same Torontonians who embraced the NFL instead of the Argonauts years ago and bought into the "world class city" mantra which merely meant we here in Toronto harbour the conceit that we're so much more "sophisticated" than you Winnipeggers or Edmontonians. But it was really nothing but a desperate attempt to be noticed by the Yanks and the rest of the world. Well screw those pathetic Canadians (particularly the ones with bumper stickers saying "My Canada includes Florida"). I care not what anybody else thinks of me or Canada.

That being said I do prefer the Blue Jays to those West Coast Mariners. But no, it's not about Canadian nationalism. It's not about us versus them.

:)

BobbyStrawberry 10-20-2025 08:05 PM

One thing I just learned about the Jays is that Canadians (at least some of them) get to watch the playoff with the home broadcasting crew. That is so cool and I wish we had that option here in the US. John Smoltz is so terrible that I end up muting the game a lot of the time.

It's amazing. You would think after years of doing this he might want to learn sports broadcasting 101 but I guess not.

bk400 10-20-2025 09:10 PM

There's something very pedantic about Smoltz's style. I much prefer Ron Darling. Orel Hershisher is a bit of a Dodger homer, but he's good also with his analysis.

BobbyStrawberry 10-20-2025 10:08 PM

What a comeback and what a season for the Blue Jays. I really hope they can give the Dodgers a series.

Well, Springer will probably pass on the dark arts that he learned with the Astros, so the Jays got that going for them.

I'll be rooting for the Dodgers.

jb217676 10-21-2025 06:50 AM

Great game we were at last night! Happy Seattle lost, even better it was Springer that drove the final nail! After the way the horrible Seattle fans booed Springer after he got hit in the knee, he deserved revenge!

That must have been an AWESOME game to attend last night. Springer, even though he's a cheater, is the most dangerous player in the playoffs. That man is clutch.

If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'

bk400 10-21-2025 07:18 AM

My predictions for the WS:

1) Ohtani will do very well on the mound. But he will NOT come through in clutch moments at the plate.

2) Mookie Betts will be the WS MVP

3) Vlad is going to be silenced by Dodgers pitching. His final line will look something like 2 for 28 with 8 strikeouts.

4) Springer will win at least one game with a clutch at bat, but Roki will strike him out in the last inning for the WS win.

CollectingAmericasPastime 10-21-2025 08:18 AM

Not sure if I want the Toronto Guardians to win to stick it to the Dodgers/MLB offices, or if I want to fast track the correction in baseball by having the Dodgers repeat.

bk400 10-21-2025 08:29 AM

I don't understand why people hate the teams that spend money, like the Dodgers. All the owners can afford to pay up for a competitive team. Every single one of them. Some see their team as a reflection of the city and pay up to win (and get the prestige that comes with winning), while others manage the team as if it were a convenience store chain. Why are we rewarding the convenience store chain owners like Arte Moreno and Bob Nutting, as opposed to guys like Mark Walter and Stevie Cohen?

For me, I'd love to see the Dodgers wipe the floor with the Jays so that small market teams stop bitching and moaning and starting spending money to compete.

ClementeFanOh 10-21-2025 08:52 AM

Well, we have a Series. Pulling for Toronto, which means LA will win:). Trent King

+1000. If I hear any more about how "we need a salary cap in baseball" my head is going to explode. Spend some money or sell the team to someone who will.

jb217676 10-21-2025 11:03 AM

Do you all think any of the small market US teams would ever move to Canada? I was thinking Pittsburgh to Montreal; Seattle to Vancouver; Tampa to Toronto.

Toronto is like New York, we could support two teams easily. Seattle, it's mostly Canadians going to the games anyways. Montreal Pirates just sounds cool.

All of these teams would spend big bucks to compete with the Jays!

I don't agree with your logic. The Blue Jays are owned by Rogers Communications, a Canadian company, and where do you think they get their money from? From Canadians! This is our team! The whole country is going to be watching the World Series now.

Shohei, we're coming for you !!

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (born in Montreal) is just as Canadian as Wayne Gretzky (maybe more these days!)

Haha!! Also, Auston Matthews is an American and he's the greatest goal scorer in Leafs history!

Beercan collector 10-21-2025 02:39 PM

If Toronto used only Canadian players, not only would they get crushed they probably couldn’t even field a team . There’s Vladimir and ... being a cardinal fan I remember Tyler O’Neill was Canadian and .. that’s about it.
Maybe bring Larry Walker and Joey Votto out of retirement

Beercan collector 10-21-2025 02:40 PM

Ooooh Freddie Freeman’s parents are Canadian - well there’s that, Toronto can get beat by somebody that’s kind of Canadian

BioCRN 10-21-2025 03:11 PM

Jameson Taillon would slot into the rotation...Mike Soroka, maybe...

They would have Owen Caissie in the prospect pipeline.

The Cubs have had and have an odd amount of Canadians on their team...redheads, too.

Also, Josh Naylor did his Canadian duty helping TOR turn an awkward double play for them last night.

Beercan collector 10-21-2025 04:10 PM

Wonderful Taillon and Naylor are good additions.,
So far we got a pitcher and two first baseman.
Plus a couple partial players .. not bad
Edit: And can bring Votto back to help at first base
