This whole thread has been mass insanity. There are a ton of things I know nothing about, including whether certain Cracker Jack cards are real. But I do know that it's best to trust an expert, as long as that person has no ulterior motive. Yet here, people seem to think it's better to trust their own uninformed eyes and other random posters, based on volume alone.

I'm not trying to congratulate the guy who won, especially because I think a little graciousness is important. But I do wonder how many people will continue to insist that the opinions of 20 people who know little are better than the opinion of one person who knows a lot.

Was it Jerry Vale who sang "You don't know me." ? Calling me a 'clown' is not an insult. As I said, enjoy your authentic Cracker Jack baseball card, young man.

Very interesting perspective.

Just for the public record, today I mailed a check for $130 to Toe Moss Man.

I don’t recall at this point if I offered an opinion on the authenticity of the card, but I must say job well done! You got yourself a free Merkel!

For some folks on here that would be akin to getting a boner over nothing.

Still no acknowledgement, as promised by him, that he received my check, which included the grading cost, sent 3 weeks ago. Gracious to the end.

BRoberts 07-12-2025 03:00 PM

So sorry this is happening to you.

And comments like this translate to being saltier than a peanut.

Dang it, once again, I prefer my peanuts unsalted! And my comment wasn't directed at you...I was just playing around with Merkle's Boner.

Brian (I know I shouldn't, but I just can't stop)

We all get it. One guy was right, one guy was wrong (and paid up). Let's end this already.

And so the saga does finally end. Where did the Merkle finally end up? A few weeks ago, Bobby listed it for sale, I contacted him, he accepted my offer, and now Fred is in the dugout with some of his Giant compadres…..in my collection. It was a long and windy, winding road from when I asked the question “ Is this 1915 CJ Merkle authentic? “ back on May 6. Thank you Bobby for accepting my offer, it may be an insignificant, horribly trimmed card, with very little monetary value, but to me, because of this saga , it is one of the highlights of my collection.

I’m glad it got to where it was intended to go.

RCMcKenzie 07-20-2025 10:45 PM

I don't know what's more heart-warming this or Jeff's Manson ball.
