But he did provide the tracking number in the picture he took. Leon told us that the picture shows the tracking number. So all of this is so much unnecessary drama over a typical transaction that was simply delayed in the mail.

He provided that picture to Leon. No one will answer whether that was ever provided to the buyer. The fact that that question keeps being ignored is concerning. If it was ever provided, just say so. If it wasn't, just say so. All this runaround sends up red flags.

Look at post #34, counselor. James acknowledged he got the picture.

He acknowledged he got the picture after this thread was made. That's not what I am worried about. I want to know if a tracking number was ever provided before a thread had to be made. James claims to have asked for it and been denied. Seller (and Leon) both refuse to answer the question if it was provided previously.

Here is what James claims in post 34:

You remind me of my dad (*RIP) when he used to say to me -

"Son, you would argue with a sign-post and give it a 30 minute head start"

Not quite sure exactly what that meant, but I don't think it was good.

I'm not arguing anything. I asked a simple question and haven't gotten a simple answer. Did seller provide tracking before this thread was made? That's all I want to know. You would rather insult me than answer that question. Which is just as telling as all the other evasive answers you provided.

The People vs. Octavio.

jingram058 03-31-2025 10:41 AM

For everyone's clarification:

1. I have the tracking number.

2. Octavio is not at fault.

3. The cards are 1948 Bowman, 6 of them, not reprints.

4. Out of generosity, Octavio charged $15 for them, plus $5 to mail them.

5. I challenge any of you to find 6 1948 Bowman cards for $15 anywhere. Thus my interest in getting resolution.

6. Because the tracking indicates the package is now at its 18th stop, North Bay California, with intended address in Fort Myers Florida clearly written on the package, I have now submitted an inquiry with the Post Office to attempt recovery of the package with delivery to my address.

Hope this clears everything up to your satisfaction.

Peter_Spaeth 03-31-2025 10:44 AM

California? As I said before it is uncanny how once a package goes off course it continues off course. I will never understand that, at any given location it's just a matter of sorting it correctly and it should go back on track. I think James will eventually get the package since it is still in the system and someone will get it right.

Asked the same question at least once early on. Nobody wants to answer the question which only makes me want the answer more.

Based on what James shared in the first post, it seems like the answer has to be no. Or at least if it was provided, then James didn’t get it.

Obviously James has it now.

But it seems like he must have received it after his first post.

I guess we can decide what that means for each of us, although I’m more inclined to suggest that as long as the package gets to me, I’m less concerned about the details leading up to it.

"No one will answer whether that was ever provided to the buyer."

I think maybe you meant to ask a different question?

Personally I would not expect $15 of cards to be sent with tracking. My thinking is why would you pay $5 to ship $15 of cards, just put them in a PWE.

Why does it keep coming back to $15?

Why do you just seem incapable of understanding that these are 1948 Bowman cards? Not cheap reprints. Please try to find 6 48 Bowman for $15 anywhere. It's the cards, not the money! Please try to be rational.

Depends on the cards and buyer. In this case they are cards James really likes/wants so I could see paying for the tracking/better packaging.

Plus shipping is different for everyone. Personally when selling or buying if you/I want to save a few bucks and use a PWE there is usually zero guarantee on delivery. With tracking if they do not show up I expect to be refunded or give one.

Nope. I asked the exact question I intended. Thanks.

In discussing the events leading up to this thread, my question is was tracking ever provided, i.e. at initial shipping, or after buyer had to ask for it, or any point leading up to the creation of this thread. The allegations are that buyer asked for it several times and was refused. It's important to know if that is being denied, because that information will matter to many potential buyers.

Keith H. Thompson 03-31-2025 11:48 AM

I suspect

that the mailing label is somehow difficult to read. I can tell you that if it ever gets to the "dead letter" facility in Atlanta you can say good bye.

With a genuine tracking number that can be scanned, I predict success.

I once had a package that tracking indicated had a stop at the USPS facility nearest my mailing address, but it just kept going to Florida. After a very long wait of several weeks it did arrive.

This has nothing to do with the point. The point is that seller appears to have not provided the tracking number. That's not ok, regardless if the cards show up.

Au contraire counselor. Taking it reading comprehension is not your strong suit. Get those paralegals into OT!

And I quote from the 1st post.

"Tracking and a photo show delivery. Well, they did not come to me"

Apparently, the OP thought the tracking shows delivery, which it did not. This could be misconstrued, but he himself wrote the above sentence. Leading to the subsequent posts. Was it a photo of the tracking number? Who can tell. However, clearly his post says they were delivered elsewhere, followed up with not to him.

I don't believe they were delivered to anyone...yet.

The jury is out

Maybe you need to brush up on reading comprehension. Those were clearly claims seller was TELLING buyer, because buyer was quite clear in post 34 that prior to receiving the picture after making this thread, seller had not provided tracking, despite requests for it.

I love how you arrogantly attack my reading comprehension, while conveniently leaving out the part of the original post that said the seller refused to provide the tracking info or photo.

I don't think longtime members are going to do all of what you said over $15. What do you think?

This isn't a bizarre situation except for the craziness of the USPS. Otherwise, some minor miscommunications is all.
.

Ditto.
OP is all over the place. Starts with saying he’s out both the money and the cards, which he repeats more than once. Now he several times says its not about the money “who cares about the money?”, and calls people morons for thinking it has to do with money.

Says in post #19 “I do not believe he ever mailed it”, then later in #34 says “He seemed to think I was accusing him of never having mailed it, which is not the case”. Says in post #22 “How would you like getting ripped off?”.

Excuse me for thinking that the tracking number is a red herring here. If Seller had said he didn’t get a tracking number on this package or that he got one but somehow can’t find it but assuring buyer that the cards were packaged and sent, OP would still be bitching and moaning that he got ripped off on his great deal, even while acknowledging that seller is a longtime member here and that there are two sides to every story. Handled piss poorly IMO.

jingram058 03-31-2025 01:06 PM

You folks can analyze this all you want. Certain things were said by the OP BEFORE HE HAD THE FACTS. And with that, I am done with this. Hopefully the Post Office will one day deliver the $15 1948 Bowman cards.

Probably because you once again started a thread ostensibly just to complain and create drama - (you weren't willing to out the seller, and thus the initial point seemed to be for little else...) and that (the $15) was something easy to latch onto in regards to the value of the thread when it became known.

I will admit that all this subsequently became a lot more interesting. But I'm still not sure I'm any smarter today than yesterday evening when I first dove into it.

Well it could include you if you have deposed both the buyer and seller. The buyer, who is all over the place, when he started this amazing thread stated he did not have tracking. The seller posted multiple times and never stated if he had provided the buyer with tracking initially, not that the question was asked directly to him.

And I am here only for the comments and not initial post on this thread.

Almost time to post another card too.

The buyer is James Ingram.

There was a late 80's R&B song by James Ingram: "Baby, Come to Me"

Was the 80's singer a psychic? And actually singing about 6 1948 Bowman cards?

THIS is the question that needs answered...

For someone who thinks he knows reading comprehension, you sure don't understand the rules of textual interpretation. I said what I meant, and meant what I said within the context of this thread and the information we have been given. OP clearly stated he was given the photo after creating the thread. So if you interpret the question, "Did he ever provide the tracking?" As meaning after the thread was made and after OP already said he got it, then I don't know what to tell you. That's tour error, not mine.

Got it?

Nothing against anyone here, but in my 10 years + and probably 1000+ transactions on the board, its been realized Handwriting is not an average strong point of the members here - unless its truly illegible and missing things, someone will decipher it and send it in the right direction. I was seriously very happy to win them with my opening bid. I have been in a collecting lull and when I saw these I knew I needed them. The 59 Fleer set is by far my favorite set and these are awesome to have in my collection.

To stay on thread topic I could complain about the seller. First off he sent me a message with several payment options and a message saying pay when coinvent. Something just screamed red flag so I sent PP payment within minutes. Then the seller had the audacity to not only ship very quickly but also package the cards extremely well. Still not sure what type of scam they are running but with all that going on something has to be wrong. I can also add i never received a tracking number of any kind. The seller actually has a very legit reason for that but we will ignore that for obvious reasons.:D

tlhss 03-31-2025 08:09 PM

At least it wasn’t sent to Puerto Rico

You still may get your cards.

I recently purchased an item on eBay. Seller was in Iowa. I’m in Illinois. Took a month to arrive. The path it took was pretty amazing:

Iowa to South Dakota to Puerto Rico to Florida to Indiana and finally to Illinois.
