He's supposed to be the better one.

I'm sure Jeannie will do whatever he wants.

For sure.

Where is Bronny? Hasn't played in weeks. So far, 2.7 minutes and 2 points, total.

Perhaps he needs a paternal "tush push".:D

I hope this young man is holding himself together psychologically. It must be somewhat strange, knowing your father is the greatest or second greatest player ever to walk on a floor, while you (at best) are a marginal bench player and with at least half the world thinking you're only there at all because they're doing your dad a favor.

I don't even think he's a marginal bench player....would he even be getting minutes on a top-25 D1 college team right now?

Honestly even he has to know that's the reason he was drafted. My guess is he's fine. He's being coddled by the team and will have very chance to improve, at least as long as his dad is on the team.

Chris Livingston was the final pick of the 2023 draft. He averaged 6 points a game at Kentucky and 1.2 points per game for the Bucks in 2023. he has appeared in 2 games this year and played 2 total minutes.

A rivalry in the making. :)

Of the 28 2nd round picks in the 2022 draft. 17 of them have played less then 500 minutes in their entire careers up to this point. Go back another year to the 2021 draft. 13 of 30 picks have played less then 500 minutes in their careers.

It's a throwaway pick for most teams.

packs 11-27-2024 03:35 PM

Totally. That’s why I’m not really buying into this idea that Bronny wasn’t worthy of being picked last. Look at who else gets picked last. This narrative of nepotism rings true because his dad is on the team but I’m not really convinced there was another player deprived of a dream or any of the other ideas related to Bronny being that much more inferior a player than who is typically picked in his place.

Peter_Spaeth 01-02-2025 07:55 PM

2 points total for Bronny to date. Here's the odd thing -- he has only played in TWO G League games. What is going on?

BobbyStrawberry 01-02-2025 08:38 PM

It looks like the team has only played two regular season games and he's averaging 15/4/4 in those two games.

Peter_Spaeth 01-02-2025 09:22 PM

Oh so season has not really started yet. I think they should just let him play in G league the rest of the season to maximize his development.

BobbyStrawberry 01-02-2025 10:14 PM

I agree, I'd be surprised if they don't do that.

jayshum 01-03-2025 06:38 AM

It looks like games started in November with something called the Tip-Off Tournament. The standings for that show each team playing 16 games. Now it looks like the regular season has started and so far, teams have only played a few games in that.

Bronny played in 7 games in the Tip Off Tournament.

Yeah,

7 games credited so far on Basketball Reference:

He did have a 30 point game on December 12th on 13-23 Shooting, so he shows flashes every once in awhile. Still needs lots of seasoning.

And now, Bryce.

Maybe the Lakers can draft him too as a freshman. WTF, it's only two roster spots, still 10 left. Go for it, Jeanie.

Just thought I'd throw this up there. Seems he's doing just fine with his G-League minutes.

Sure, this means nothing in the NBA landscape, but historically he's doing just fine for a bottom of the 2nd round pick, for those overly concerned about the "meritocracy" of the NBA.

Who are some other guys selected in the NBA draft based on 4.8 PPG, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game in college?

Examples have already been given in this thread. Plus, there’s been hundreds of fellas drafted who never played a single game of college ball.

packs 02-24-2025 02:33 PM

Hugo Besson was the final pick of the 2022 draft. He was selected 57th overall. Milwaukee and the Heat held the 58th and 59th picks that year and both teams declined to draft anyone.

Hugo Besson is 23 years old and has never appeared in an NBA or G League game. He also has the distinction of being traded three times since he was drafted.

But yeah, Bronny was a wasted pick....
