With regards to how important the registry is/isn't, here's a bit of a snapshot:

Bringing up this post one last time (I created it in April). We are two weeks from the National. Anything from SGC about onsite grading? Or really, anything about what they are doing at the National?

On-site grading for SGC at the Natty

SGC on site grading
Well, great day in the morning! SGC is grading on site. Gosh, where will all
the angst and hand-wringing go to now? For those of you who can't wait 2 weeks for cards to get graded, you can now forfeit a decent part of a show day and pay "x" multiplier prices. More power to you...so long as the group I shipped to SGC yesterday for that monstrous 2 week "wait" for grades, isn't delayed:) Trent King |
Good for them. About time IMO. They should be busy if they price the grading reasonably.

Great News good Call Mr Foreman

But they don't know the pricing yet...
I mean...how hard can they honestly make this? And I don't even use SGC |

And I am still waiting on the social media update. |
It's like a detective story. You have to follow the clues !
|
Limited Effort. Probably saves money not having a media team....I don't know, they're a content company, they like it the way things are, fast turn around times. It's all at their pace. Many vintage guys don't care what they do online or at shows, just mail them the cards. Let's just be thankful we got something from them, that's a start.

They will be busy at this price level. Really smart move. Hope they bring enough help to deliver the promise.
|
Very Smart Move they're gonna kill it at this price level!! Great Job Mr. Foreman
|
Will anyone at the National be utilizing this service?

So no updates here? Some of you were really upset SGC was not showing up. They did and...
Please tell me we are better than the crying baby who wants his/her bottle. I mean we are "grown ups" even if we don't all act that way...all the time. |
I am 100 percent certain that the lines were huge and the grading was amazing. :) But yeah as you point out it's kind of odd nobody even followed up to talk about it after all that drama.
|
I think I referenced the long lines in one of my previous National posts. They were busy at times that I passed by during the times I passed by, but I got lucky and stopped by Friday just before show closing time, and was able to talk to some very helpful folks that walked me through the process on some items that required encapsulation in large holders. I took advantage of the National specials as well and was glad they offered their services at the show (but I did not drop off anything there for pickup by end of show).
|
I used both the re-holder and raw grading take home service. I submitted my re-holders Wednesday at near the beginning of the show and received a text that they were available before the show closed Wednesday night. I had left already so I picked them up when I arrived Thursday morning. On Friday night I made my sub on their website while at my hotel (they had a special rate up that you could chose for NSCC drop off) showed up on Saturday and dropped my cards off.
I found their entire operation efficient and pleasant. They had plenty of people on-site willing to answer questions and walk folks through subs if they chose to do them on the computers there. I had a great experience with SGC at National. I dropped off three cards. Two were raw ($15 special) and one was getting re-holdered. The case had become loose and was allowing the label to shift. Because of the card, I didn't really want to leave National without it, so I was going to get them to re-holder that day. I was expecting to pay a decent amount. Brian at SGC took a look at my card/case and said that they would re-holder for free same day because it should not have occurred. I was happy and got my card back a few hours later with no expense.
Thanks Chad |

Be that as it may, what if Leon Luckey or someone who knows how to set up something like this, was to create a Net54 Collector's Showcase, whereby members could showcase their collection, parsed by graded cards, which would include ALL TPG, raw cards, and memorabilia. Each member would have his own separate "showcase" to spotlight or show off their cards, or whatever. I suppose any item that is for sale could have a notation to that effect, with "asking price" or "taking offers". Each member decides how he / she wishes to organize their collection. Just an idea, with many bits to be sorted out. I imagine something like this would fulfill a desire for a collector to show off their collection, whilst receiving recognition (i.e. comments, like PSA's set registry does), as well as offers if the collector wishes to part with that particular item. Feasible? Crazy? Too much work to set up? Should Net54 get a piece of the action? As I said, it's just an idea worth mulling over.:) Cheers, my fellow collecting warriors. --- Brian Powell |

I had an excellent experience with SGC at the show. I dropped off 2 items, 1 to get a new flip (pictured below) and the other to get a new slab because it was moving inside. I bought both items at the show.
The one that was moving in the slab is oversized and odd shaped so it needs a custom holder to be done at their mother ship and then shipped to me - this one is completely free of charge. The Wagner was done in 1 day. The young woman from SGC helping me was excellent. Solid props to SGC! |
That label is friggin' awesome, Aaron. I did not know that SGC grades them.
|
for anyone worried about a post-National lag on SGC's side, my most recent order was received on July 18, and today it popped to "post grading processing", so right at 10/11 business days. looks like they are still on track.

I had the Cobb and Wagner put in new holders. Both were done in 3 hours. The da Vincis were graded fresh from my collection. Overall I was very pleased with their service Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
