Picked up two recently...overpaid for the Felsch I think but that happens sometimes...nice looking 1916 M101-4 Felsch (blank back) and a nice looking 1920 W519 Cicotte

Nice looking Zeenut. I like how the 1915 Burns looks in comparison to the 1917, because on his 1917 card Bill's face is completely in shadows.

Lefty is a tough one, I'd love to see what you got! Hugh High seems like a stand-up guy, despite having played for the Yankees, so it's just this one and a W514 in my Pete Rose lunchbox....

Thanks Epps, that standard biscuit Lefty is a thing of beauty. My collins-mccarthy is indeed off center upwards, but it doesn’t bother me and I think great for the grade. The tango eggs Weaver/Tinker mixup is sharp too, but it’s a gross violation of the childish ‘good guys’ vs ‘bad guys’ approach I bring to my Cubs and Black Sox collecting. 🤣🤣🤣

One of my fave pick ups of "22....(as previously shown) and a boomerang from my first collection.

Done with a trade, no less.

I got mine when they first came out in I believe 1989 or 1990. They were printed on heavy parchment type paper and were numbered to 1500, and were printed from the original plates (that were supposedly destroyed after the print run).

Technically not a Black Sock, but Attell was the alleged fixer and operator arranging the game rigging and so he seems to mean to qualify for the thread.

Here's all 4 of his T219 cards, if I'm allowed to play with Attell.

Nice Attell cards. I believe 3 are actually T218, while the slightly narrower one is a T219.

Abe Attell was the "bag man" for New York gamblng gangster Arnold Rothstein. Attell supposedly gave $10,000
to several Chicago White Sox players to "throw" the 1919 World Series.

All 4 are actually T219's. There are 4 backs in T219, Honest Long Cut with black ink, Honest Long Cut with green ink, Miners Extra, and Red Cross. It is seldom noted, but the Red Cross cards are physically smaller than the other 3 versions, and crop the images even further than the other 3 backs crop the T218 pictures.

Here's the full family, all 9 possible Attell's of this image. Mecca 30, Mecca 649, Hassan 30, and Hassan 649 series 1 backs, above his C52 series 1 card. All 4 T219's on the right.

My error...I guess I was fooled by the Red Cross. It is nice to see all the versions from the two sets, and a good visual to see the cropping differences between the sets.

I pulled a sneaky on you by including the mini mini Red Cross ;). Some of the Red Cross cards don’t look nearly as good as the others because the cropping starts to interfere with the picture and not just trim fat off the background like it does for Dishonest Abe here.

3 1/2 years ago I traded a 1915 Cracker Jack Jackson SGC 4 for my dream card and I told myself I can always get another CJ Jackson… then the prices went up. And up. And up. Gulp!!! And up. Well, I had several consignments in REA’s last auction and I was able to get this one.

Nice W514 Black Sox cards Frank. I especially like how card #121 of McMullen snuck in there too. I haven't seen that before...were other aftermarket cards besides McMullen issued as well?

That #121 of McMullen was custom printed by a Net54 board member, and I bought one from him. In my binder I have the W514s in 15 pocket sheets; 1-120 fit in 8 sheets, except for those pesky players who have cards for 2 teams. There are 4 of those players... so in the 9th page goes #121 McMullen, then 3 of those extra cards for the guys with 2 cards for their 2 different teams. I lack the extra card for Bancroft, I don't have his New York Giants card. I'll eventually find one.

Normally I'd have the different versions of a player adjacent to each other... but I like how there's 1-15, then 16-30, then 31-45... It makes it easy to find a card.

Did Happy Felsch have a series associated With Brooklyn called "'The Knothole Gang' back in the 50's? As a kid growing up, I remember such a show, particularly since I was a rabid Dodgers fan.

I looked it up, and there was a gentleman by the name of Happy Felton that had a pre-game show involving the players and kids named Happy Felton's Knothole Gang.

So close, but no Felsch cigar.

Hal Chase was considered a controversial figure in the "Black Sox" scandal. This factor prevented him from being in the HOF.
Chase vehemently denied being involved.
