Kevin,
Thanks for the tip. I'll try it!

I love this photo. I suppose it is a great example of early luxury boxes. I am curious what is Landis’ wife smelling? Emil Fuchs looks like a pompous ass. Landis looks self-righteous. Ruppert seems to be tickled with himself, and Bob Shawkey looks a wee bit mischievous. His wife at the far right is donning the same expression my wife has whenever we go to Safeco. The gentleman in the striped tie to the left of Ruppert is his good friend Colonel Fred Wattenburg. Despite dying in 1938 he remained in contact with Ruppert via the Ouija Board. In 1938 he communicated via that medium that Ruppert would join him in the afterlife soon. Ruppert a believer in the occult died almost a year to the date of that communication.

Hey Randall, nice group of pinbacks...that Antelope Park one as you might already know is a Lincoln, Nebraska pin...if you're looking to sell that 1912 Lincoln pass pinback I'd be interested.

Bob Feller's business cards from when he worked for Sheraton Hotels turn up on a fairly regular basis (although it took forever for me to get one), but I had not seen this item before now. 1.5 x 1.5 inches.

I might get the Lajoie-Wagner supplement framed with two ticket stubs I have from that 1913 Cleveland-Pittsburgh series. Though I was happy to get this, it will be the last time I ever deal with the auction house that sold it. 14 x 20 inches.

Picked this up today, not sure what it is. Looks like a silver coin purse with a little green baseball player on the front. My guess would be like the 20s but really have no idea. Anyone seen something like this? Thanks.

I grew up in the 60s and was a huge Sandy Koufax fan. Since Clayton Kershaw is the modern incarnation of Koufax, I decided to pick up this gamer.

1979 Gary Carter used bat (transition year for Rawlings, great to be able to pinpoint it to an All Star season) and a Pedro Mets' bat with light use.

Pick up this Stan The Man amature snapshot for my HOF snapshot collection. Thought this was really special since Stan is with two Dodgers fan and the fact they were the ones that gave him Stan "The Man" nickname. Love how it depicts Musial character.

Jeff Kent game used Dodgers bat- #31 of my collection I think
1995 Dave Winfield game used Indians bat
1921-30 Tom Connelly game used Yankees bat- tough bat for a Yankee collector since he only played in 1920-21. Died in 1941 at the age of 43.

Those jerseys are great, Clint. Some real hideous designs.

I might have asked you this before: Did the late '80s Wichita script (No. 24) belong to Warren Newson? I'm fairly sure that was his number in 1989. Any chance No.33 was Kevin Garner's? I know that '89 was the first year for those styles. Not sure how long they used them.

Awesome Wichita Jerseys! What a variance, from the classic '50s Pinstripes to those garish technicolor '70s styles. That's quite an evolution...

In the spirit of Wichita, I just picked up this Christmas Goodie. The more I look at it, the more I like it.... This Wahoo puts the Gibbs Connners to shame, and might even get the nod over the Stanford Pottery.

I believe it's rare... Anybody here ever seen another?

bobfreedman 12-25-2013 09:39 AM

Mark, that is awesome! I completely agree with you that it is better than the Gibbs Connors and give the Stanford Pottery pieces a run for their money. Where did you find it if you do not mind me asking? Great piece! You should ask Lou at Inside the Park Collectibles if he knows anything about it. Congrats!

Sorry Guys I've been out of town.

Rob, The 24 jersey was Newson's. The 33 I'm not sure about as the name was removed and I really hadn't researched it that much.

Mark, the only other Wichita Indian statue I've seen is the one in my collection. Not sure on when it was made and like the seller stated they were the Indians from 1950-55.
