Post #100! A tribute to the this train wreck of a thread which actually has righted itself somewhat with talk of Seinfeld. And although I have not dealt with John/Wonka, it's good to see him back photo shopping. I think the last time he was around was in the Reggie/Reginald Marsh aka Marshall Barkman days? Or was it when he was busting the beak of that T-206 museum guy.....

Thanks Fubar :) Post #101

barrysloate 03-25-2010 06:25 PM

I actually like "The Pony Remark", but it is not as popular as some of the other classic ones.

Brian Weisner 03-25-2010 06:28 PM

Who thinks an immigrant is going to have a Pony....

Be well Brian

PS The "Bet" is good.... "George" sleeps well throughout the episode....

The title of that episode actually is The Merv Griffin Show. Season 9, episode 6.

Rob D. 03-25-2010 06:33 PM

I think The Chinese Woman is underrated.

George's mom yelling, "I was duped!" is one my favorite lines (and one quoted in the Dewolf household on almost a daily basis).

barrysloate 03-25-2010 06:36 PM

"The rines are crossed."

Okay, here's a tough Seinfeld trivia question, which I sent to Bruce Babcock:

Name three different Seinfeld episodes that mention kasha (you can just name the scene)?

Brian Weisner 03-25-2010 06:38 PM

...Hi Rob,
Donna Chang.... was an imposter....the whole thing is ridiculous....

1. The scene where George's dad is getting in bed with George at the end of the day.

2. The "cigar store Indian" episode (Jerry and Elaine discussing the various smells of the Costanza household).

Gotta think about No. 3.

brickyardkennedy 03-25-2010 06:40 PM

I think there was one with George in bed and Jerry Stiller offered him kasha?

OK, Rob beat me. : )

Brian Weisner 03-25-2010 06:44 PM

Hi Rob,
I tried.... But spellcheck wouldn't let me.... It's all Barry's fault...

Barry,

Does the rabbi offer Elaine some Kasha when she's admitting to him she's jealous of George getting married? (I know he mentions Snackwells.)

Abravefan11 03-25-2010 06:44 PM

Serenity Now is a great episode.

Kramer puts up a screen door. Anytown USA

George sells computers for his dad with Lloyd.

Elaine is a shiksa.

Jerry cries. "What is this salty discharge?"

Ladder7 03-25-2010 06:45 PM

Episode with the line, "I didn't think there were any cool guys in the neighborhood."

Kramer riding by in the cab while doing a war yell out the window. An LOL moment each time I see it.

barrysloate 03-25-2010 06:47 PM

You got two. Here they are:

1) George and Elaine decide the Costanza's house smells like kasha and dandruff (it's a potpourri).
2) Frank and George sleep in the same bed and Frank eats a bowl of kasha (he can't use the folding bed because Poppy peed on it).
3) Elaine visits Rabbi Kirschbaum and he asks her if she would like some kasha varnischkes.

Rob got the third while I was typing.

Brian Weisner 03-25-2010 06:47 PM

That's the cigar store Indian episode. Actually Kasha is mentioned twice in that one, I believe. Once by Jerry and Elaine, and again by the woman from the antiques store.

Rob D. 03-25-2010 06:52 PM

Since this thread is so off-track anyway, I'll add this:

A couple weeks ago I was up at 5 a.m. on Sunday doing work, and I turned on an old Law & Order episode on TNT. This was one from the Ben Stone days. Included among the supporting characters were the actors who played Crazy Joe Davola and Mr Kruger.

What a way to start the week.

barrysloate 03-25-2010 06:52 PM

I think she does notice the kasha smell in the house too...that's when George serves her prune juice. He can't find the keys to the liquor cabinet.

Who are the two characters in Seinfeld named Barry?

barrysloate 03-25-2010 06:55 PM

Crazy Joe Davola was a very underrated character...he was always playing it way over the top. I always loved his parody of John Wilkes Booth when he jumped onto the stage of Jerry's pilot.

And Mr. Kruger is a veteran TV actor. He's been around awhile. They didn't do a whole lot of work at Kruger Smoothing and Sanding.

Jerry's sniffing account was named Barry, right?

Duh, Barry the chimp.

barrysloate 03-25-2010 06:58 PM

Barry the sniffing accountant is correct.

And of course Barry the Chimp. According to Kramer: "he started it."

dennis 03-25-2010 06:58 PM

Alec Berg, right? (One of the writer's names in real life.)

Brian Weisner 03-25-2010 07:01 PM

Holy Crap.... I thought this thread was on the top 100 Seinfeld moments...
Am I wrong.....? Be well Brian

PS They are REAL and they are spectacular....

barrysloate 03-25-2010 07:05 PM

Alec Berg...Alec Berg...sounds like a John Huston name.

It was very common to use the names of actual people. When Jerry shares a plane with the drunk who claims he has bells palsey, and Jerry has to take care of his dog Farfel, that character's name is Gavin Polone. The real Gavin Polone was a producer on both Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm. In fact there are probably dozens of characters on the show whose last name is taken from somebody who worked behind the scenes.

"Is that kasha I smell?"
"It's a potpurri."

The episode where Kramer works at Branch and Leland, and where George dates the model is classic.
"I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to let you go."
"I don't even work here."
"That's what makes this so difficult."

barrysloate 03-25-2010 07:20 PM

Kramer: You know this is my busiest time of the year.
Jerry: It's only your third day!

Yes, the woman comes to visit George at his parents' house, thinking that it is his; she sniffs the house and says, "Mmmm..what's that smell? Kasha?"

Might be the funniest Seinfeld line ever.

barrysloate 03-25-2010 07:30 PM

Have we even mentioned:

"Moors...Moops...Moors...Moops...Moors...Moops !

Leon 03-25-2010 07:40 PM

TheBig6 03-25-2010 08:32 PM

George and the Frogger machine was funny episode.
Barry, What were the 2 guys names that Kramer got to help him move it.
Funny stuff

Ladder7 03-25-2010 08:39 PM

Snoopy and Prickly Pete?

tothrk 03-25-2010 08:42 PM

Newman

The episode where Newman & Kramer get rid of the barking dog. The cops arrive at Newman's and he says, "What took ya so long?"
Newman was a great character.
The opposite was a good episode.

Classic and right at the top of my favorite episodes.

I think one guy was Slippery Pete, that's one of the things he and Kramer argued about.
He also called the electrical outlet "holes."

danc 03-25-2010 09:33 PM

Man, look what I basically started, even though these things tend to always flow in the direction of Seinfeld chatter when the masses are disapproving in the thread topic. "Elaine, he's a male bimbo. He's a mimbo!"

I had more time to think about it, and adjusted my list as I believe the episode entitled "Reservations" (I think that's what it's called) where Jerry's car is stolen and he calls his own cell phone.

Also, thanks Steve for the vendor box question. Didn't realize they came in that form.

Robextend 03-25-2010 09:44 PM

I can't believe I missed this thread because I had to spend quality time with my g/f.

Did anyone mention the Bizzaro World episode? Kevin, Gene and Feldman!! And of course their Bizarro mailman Farkas.

How about the Jewish Singles episode? Frank relives his experience as a chef in the Korean War..."They were just boys".....hilarious

Ha and true. But what I can't figure out is if the "group" will be a) upset that this thread is completly hijacked or b) thrilled that they started yet another epic train wreck thread. Probably both

Bruce would have been a great character on Seinfeld.

Howe’s Hunter 03-25-2010 10:53 PM

I really don't fit in with this crowd...

I've only tried to watch Sienfeld twice, and both times it turne out to be the episode where Elaine is in a steam bath and falls in to a woman Jerry is dating and decides the breasts are real. Never made it to the end of the episode either time.

Only tried to watch "The Office" once, and found it nothing like "Office Space" and never tried again.
