I have this McGraw that constantly gets stuck in my craw. That is, until, by the luck of the draw, the calendar done told me to once again post Mr. Mugsy, my finger pointing outlaw.

John McGraw

Exactly 13 - T206 backs were printed on each of the Exclusive 12 subjects in the 460-only series (of which this McGraw was printed with this group of 12).
Illustrated here is the complete run of the McGraw cards.

Needless to say, the red HINDU and UZIT are the toughest cards to find in this run. And fortunately, there are no LENOX or PIEDMONT 460 (Factory #42)
cards printed in this group. Incidentally, my McGraw (glove) with UZIT is unique. Unless some one on this forum can post a 2nd one.

I would think the Old Mill and Cycle 460 would be tougher than the Red Hindu, they certainly come up for sale less frequently.

When they are not turning over in their graves, I believe our T206 heroes are inhaling deeply to have enough breath to blow out all the extra candles.

Here is a T206 Sweet Caporal of Roy Parks Brashear, who spent two years (1902 St. Louis Cardinals, and 1903 for the Philadelphia Phillies) in the majors.

Roy was in the 1910 and 1911 Obak sets, as well as the the 1911 through 1914 Zeenut sets. They are not shown here, but for fun, below are Obak cards (1909 through 1911) of his brother Norm 'Kitty' Brashear, who was in the major leagues for one year in 1899 for Louisville in the National League.

Fun fact I just discovered...Norman's middle name was Cobb. Now that's some hard-corn baseball trivia!

Bill Burns -- 27 January

3 Attachment(s)
William T. "Bill" Burns. "Sleepy Bill". Pitcher with the Washington Senators in 1908-1909. 30 wins and 2 saves in 5 MLB seasons. His career ERA was 2.72 in 717.2 innings pitched for 5 different MLB teams, ending in 1912 with the Detroit Tigers. He twice lost no-hitters with two outs in the ninth. He was key go-between in the 1919 Black Sox Scandal.

To rehash an old issue - did we ever figure out why Bill Burns was wearing his glove on the wrong hand?

GeoPoto 01-27-2025 01:55 PM

Pre-War cards has a write up that suggests 1) the artist goofed, 2) Burns was goofing around, or 3) he was ambidextrous (fact) and was wearing a six- finger glove (they existed) which lost one finger to cropping. The uncropped version of the same image showing him wearing a six- finger glove is on Burns' T3 card, which I don't have.

Herman A. "Germany" Schaefer. Infielder for the Washington Senators in 1909-1914. 972 hits, 9 home runs, and 201 stolen bases in 15 MLB seasons. His "steal" of first base prompted rule making it illegal. Popular as a baseball "trickster" and "on-field clown", often in tandem with Charley O'Leary and, later, with Nick Altrock. Altrock eventually perfected the art with Al Schacht.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d2763d3696.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2e081892e1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f8a101779d.jpg

I have saved and pasted Pat's previous posting (known in the hobby as "pulling a particular past Pat posting") of T206 birthday boys for February.

And I decree Criger deserves to have a couple of colorful festive conical hats made of paper to celebrate the passing of his birthday.
