Congrats Rob. That is a heck of a find from an antiques store. All I ever find is 1990s cards and they are overpriced!

I'm right there with you though, the misses far outweigh the hits. |
I’ll go with my 1970 Dayton Daily News example of Bart Starr! Love this set. Living in Dayton, i’m always buying these.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6d17e47e01.jpg

Thanks, i love the set as well. I live in Dayton and have been searching for these M137 cutouts from the 1979-71 Dayton Daily News for over 10 years. Very tough set, 324 ‘cards’ in base set, multiple sports, a lot of variations. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Speaking of newspaper subjects, here's one for fun, Wes

I picked up this matchbook cover describing the 1934 game between Holy Cross and Boston College for a buck and a quarter.

Glad to pick up these two. I regretted getting rid of my Namath RC so got this colorful copy.
Also I never had a Stabauch RC, so why not a miscut one https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...ictureid=28947 https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...ictureid=28948 |
Miscut Staubach looks very cool, unique. I’ve never seen one that exaggerated

1975 Wonder Bread Disney Crazy College Pennant Stickers. These are "football cards" correct? Anyway I like them!

Well, I finally figured out how to do it, I guess! But the pics are a little big. I'd like to post more than one a post and make them just a little smaller. If anyone has any quick advice on this, I'd appreciate it!

I loved watching George Blanda in the early 70's, kicking those long field goals, defying age. One of the greats. Just picked up a couple of his 1956 cards. This is one. Gonna give the other to my son for Christmas!

I don't know that it's the only way to do it but what I have done in the past is edit the information produced after you select the 'Insert Image' icon enter your URL for the image. If you look in the information produced within the [IMG] tags you will see a width and a height near the end. The width is a number with a 'w' preceding it. The height is a number with a 'h' preceding it. If you change those numbers your image size will change. I inserted the same card image in three times and changed the size so you can see it below.

Hi Jeff - Thanks for your reply. I'm still not sure how to do what it is you're suggesting. I go to the paper clip, choose a file, and "edit with photos" cropping the photo and straightening it out. But I still don't see anything about changing the size of the photo. |
I don't use the paperclip. I use the 'Insert Image' ... it's the square yellow and black icon under and to the right of the paperclip. You have to have your image hosted somewhere to do this (I use Goggle Pictures) but it has a lot more options and no limit on sizes
Not a fan of the paperclip functionality. It restricts your images to a very small size and I like higher resolution scans that are much larger than these limits. jeff |

Yeah, if I use square, black and yellow icon, it doesn't seem like I can upload from my files. If I take a picture from my phone, how can I use the icon you're talking about? Thanks again. |

First vintage football set (and basically vintage football cards period) acquired today, and it's the one I've wanted: '71
Was a huge Steelers fan growing up. Even though that was during the '80s, the lore of the '70s dynasty was a big part of my sports childhood. Bradshaw and Greene's rookie cards together is just amazing. Plus all the other stars of the era that I don't have (OJ, Unitas, Namath, etc). And I love the design. Yeah I know it doesn't have most of the rest of their '70s team, but I'm a big RC guy, so I'll sacrifice that. Franco, Lambert, Ham, and the rest are all in my '81 childhood cards :) Great deal and nice eye appeal set too. The Bradshaw is a raw ex+ and Greene PSA 6. Those two alone are worth almost what the set cost w/ today's crazy values. Looking forward to getting this one in hand |

Mentioned the '81 childhood FB cards above, and those were my first ones. When I started high school and got back into collecting at the end of the '80s, the best card I found in my old stash was a Montana rookie. I still have it and remember how cool it felt to uncover again. |

Football thread is really quiet lately. Here is a new pick-up that I was happy with. Nice looking card in a SGC 30 holder. I'm digging the oversized card and overall pop of this design. Really looks nice in hand. One of several nice football cards pick ups the past few months.

Great stuff, guys!
I'm loading up on Brady Rookies...in particular, I see great potential for his UD Graded card in the future. Limited to 1325, and good looking design. |
When did they have a blue flip.
|
I believe the blue flips were used special for these UD Graded cards, which some of them were graded in conjunction with UD and put into boxes already slabbed. This was short lived to my knowledge.

I haven't picked up anything Football related in quite awhile, but couldn't pass this one up. I started collecting the Goal Line Art cards when they first came out in 1989 until 1998 (not sure why I stopped but I suspect it didn't seem as important once they stopped numbering the sets. Anyway, got the chance to pick up a partially autograph 1999 set, so i pulled the trigger. Love these cards and they look great autographed.

In the last month, I decided to go for a more complete post-war vintage football collection (to go with the '71 set I mentioned above)
Got a mid-grade '60 set b/c I like the footballs on the front and I still needed a Jim Brown, Sam Huff, and a few others from that era. And the cost is reasonable. Then my favorite football set from a little further back: a '50 Bowman. It's low grade but presentable, and I love the backgrounds (especially the Tittle rookie). Those three sets, along with the '81, '84, '86, and '89 (score) that I still need to find some commons/minors for, are gonna make a great complement to my baseball and basketball stuff, and covers everything pigskin that I ever hoped to have :) https://i.imgur.com/WZFBMz8.png https://i.imgur.com/J4GbPue.png https://i.imgur.com/75er2uO.png https://i.imgur.com/I0lVbNk.png https://i.imgur.com/UPBqoa3.png https://i.imgur.com/7uFQUaL.png |

A small pickup, $2.17 shipped, but it finishes my 1970 set. Still looking for a Calvin Hill Name in Black variation, but the basic is complete. Love the 70's football sets
