Here's a fun winter morning (I think Feb of this year) in Southern Cal, water temp is probably mid to high 50's. The only good thing about the cold weather is less people in the water... <br /><br />Winters in San Diego are much better for waves than Los Angeles, but LA gets better waves in the summer... The water temp is spring-suit cool around here, and surprisingly even though it's not as cold as you mentioned in CA it still keeps the crowds pretty minimal. Although it could also be the fact that red tide has been plaguing our coast for 5 weeks or more now. Pretty rough, but I deal with it.<br /><br />Good Waves > Respiratory Problems <img src="/images/happy.gif" height=14 width=14><br /><br />Unfortunately when I think about surfing CA, Great Whites come to mind, that latest attack in Monterey (Todd Endris) was pretty gruesome, huh?! Then in HI you have your Tigers... surprisingly the county I surf in has more shark attacks annually than anywhere else in the world, but none have been fatal.

It's great to get in the water in the early AM before the sun comes up and in the evening when the sun is down. The bioluminance is brilliant and it's just so cool to see it. Also, lots of dolphins in the H20 on clean clear days. We'll see pods of 10+ within 20 yards of the lineup.

Starting up again after such a long time makes you a bit apprehensive but life is an adventure, isn't it, and I am ready for a new challenge. We did a camel ride as well and I was shocked at how much they smell if you pet them.<br /><br />I also am part of the club that has stayed at The Peninsula in Hong Kong. I liked the message that comes on the TV screen when you shut it off at night so much that I even took a photo. It averages out to setting down 1 block every 2 or 3 minutes for 20 or 30 years. Those slabs weigh thousands of tons each. They line up with true north and match star constellations. Aparently the pyramids line up exactly with Orions belt and the sphinx lines up with Leo at the same time in 10500 B.C :s Precisely what Edgar Cayce predicted too. I;ve always wanted to visit Egypt and see the pyramids and the sphinx <img src="/images/happy.gif" height=14 width=14>
