Posted By: Joe D.
to get to know the secret handshake.

you have to join the pledge class.

pledges are considered "raw" or "ungraded".... ultimately they work their way to the sought after rank of "slabbed" - and at that point they are taught the secret handshake.

Similar to secret societies such with fearsome names like the skull and bones...
maybe our proper name is the dreaded and scary 'crease and paper-loss' ?

ah - but that could be the topic of discussion for our next meeting.
Posted By: barrysloate
Mike- if I had to do it over again I think I would have gone with the steak, too. I didn't know what a cassoulet was and in retrospect, probably not the best dish for someone with a sensitive stomach. I took a risk...live and learn!

Posted By: MikeW
Really, Barry? That looked so good. Is it possible you said something "smart" to the waiter? He seemed to have ulterior motives at times. I have a hard time trusting a waiter that grins slyly after he takes my order.

Would Anyone...(ahem)...Like to Have a NY Dinner?
Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Boy, is that a throwback phrase: "slipped me a mickey." I recall hearing that for the first time as a young kid watching Bugs Bunny; invariably Bugs would either have 'slipped someone a mickey' or, in the alternative, been 'slipped a mickey.' Wonderfully descriptive term created at the term of the last century; short for "Mickey Finn." Refers to the spiking of a drink in order to knock someone out.
